I had my very first haircut at Jo Davi Salon in Trumbull yesterday. My stylist Jessica L. knew exactly how to cut my very full head of hair. My hair can be somewhat mopish when not kept up with a really good cut. Additionally, she gave me styling tips along the way and finished with the perfect ponytail and showed me how to do it!!! Absolutely love this place. I've been going for two years now, and every experience I've had has exceeded my expectations. All of the women are so friendly and helpful, especially their front desk team. My stylist, Carrie, has been a god-send and my hair has never been healthier and looked better! She is professional and courteous, and never pushes me to come back too soon or for services I don't really need. I've been beyond impressed with how seriously they've taken the COVID protocols, and feel very safe getting my hair done. The place is sparkling clean and perfectly distanced. Super friendly reception staff is always my first tell for the likelihood of a great experience overall, and am never disappointed at Jo Davi! I've been going for several years now, and am always very happy with the service. I've recently started having my hair cut & colored by Carrie, she truly listens and takes the time to decipher what I'm trying to ask for! Then comes through 100%!! Plus, we alway have fun chatting while she's working. My teen daughter put of having her hair cut for years, after one bad cut after another (elsewhere!!) but now sees Allie at Jo Dave, and she leaves loving her cuts, and with that kick of extra confidence!! Carrie at Jo Davi was recommended to me after asking a friend where she had her hair done (because it looked great). I was in desperate need of a haircut and style and decided to get balayage for the first time. I am SO happy with the results, both cut and color. I would have given a zero star if I could. The manager Mary yelled at me when I asked her what the stylist did and what kinds of services I received. She threw a temper tantrum to a customer which is absurd. I spent $188 also gave $30 tip to Melissa so I deserve an explanation. Especially the new assistant Liz did the complete opposite of what I wanted and totally ruined my hair. I deserve an explanation but Mary the mature lady had no patience and tell me to leave. I didn't book Liz and I was happy to get a refund. Now my tone is not rich anymore and I will spend more money to fix it not to mention the more detrimental damage to my hair to do it so frequently. The worst service I ever received and nobody ever yelled at me but this place when I spent $200 to be yelled at. She is unfit for her job. Or maybe it made me question since I'm not white she has a discriminatory attitude towards me? The entire time I was calm but very disappointed I told her I needed an explanation as Liz didn't pay attention to hear what I wanted or she has just no experience? But I never even got a chance to say any of these she just told me to leave. I told Liz to tone the bottom part of my hair but not sure why she made my roots become black and when asked her, she said she just took out the Rich tone. But that's not what I wanted I want to keep the Rich tone but the bottom orange color need to be toned. read more

I had my worst hair nightmare at this salon. I visited Jo Davi a few times and was fairly pleased with my usual stylist. She was unavailable (on vacation) one day, so I was assigned a different "Master Colorist" (who I will not name). I have dark, naturally curly hair, and was optimistic when I was told my new stylist also had curly hair. Well, I requested caramel highlights and offered a photo. At the end of the very long process, my highlights ended up red (and unbalanced), looking nothing like the photo I offered. The salon was kind enough to offer a correction at no cost. When I returned, the same Master Colorist assured me that she had consulted with my usual stylist and now understood that she needed to lift more color from my hair to avoid the red undertones. Well...she ended up bleaching my delicate hair until it looked whitish-green!!! I was horrified! She added a rinse or something to remove the white-green hue, but I was left with very unnatural blonde highlights instead of caramel. That wasn't even the worst part. Because she continually used her hands to run the color through the highlighted sections while they processed, the highlighted portions of my hair were permanently straightened. My highlighted hair was completely fried!! Rather than caramel highlights, I left the salon with partly straightened, fried, blonde highlights that looked awful! (My curl pattern was a disaster.) I called the salon to complain, and they offered me a full refund. However, the refund did not cover the extensive cost of correcting the hair color and minimizing the damage. It certainly did not make up for the years it is taking for my damaged, broken hair to grow out! When I visited another salon to correct the damage, they were horrified and could not image what product was applied to my hair to damage it that way. They were frankly appalled that a stylist at Jo Davi was responsible. Please be very careful which stylist you choose at Jo Davi. The title of "Master" apparently means very little. read more

Lisa Rose "gets me"...more importantly, she gets my hair. I am very particular about my shade of blonde and highlights and she nailed it the first time I visited her. Been returning happily ever since. My trims grow out gracefully. The salon is upscale and relaxing. I'm here to stay! read more
