The customer service is absolutely TERRIBLE. I went in on Black Friday, 11/28. As I walked in I was handed a "Black Friday Deal" pamphlet. On the top it stated that you can get a free robe or "luxury" throw blanket with ANY $70 fragrance purchase. (as seen below) So I was like well this is awesome, I was planning on buying perfume anyways and I could score a free robe for my mother in law! Christmas shopping made easy, right! WRONG. After waiting in the very long line I got up front to the registers, they had many of the robes back there stacked up. When my total hit $90 after buying 3 bottles of Sol De Janeiro, I mentioned the pamphlet I was given. They rudely told me that Sol De Janeiro isn't "luxurious" enough. Like, excuse me 14 ounces for $90 (while being 25% off) isn't good enough?! The ad clearly stated no exclusions. So I just brushed it off because I'm not going to stand here and argue with them while there is a big line of people waiting. Then they asked me if I had a Ulta phone number with them and I said no, they asked me if i'd like to sign up and I said no. Then the other cashier next to her rudely said, "Well even if you were eligible for the gift, you wouldn't be able to get it since you aren't signed up with us. Like okay bitch, nobody was talking to you. Plus, if I was eligible I would've signed up with them! Moral of the story, I will never spend another penny at that crappy store. read more

For my birthday, I wanted Joico shampoo and conditioner. That is exactly what my son bought me or what he thought he bought me. He did give me the shampoo, but instead of the conditioner he got me another product that was also Joico. Unfortunately, I did not want it and so I took it back to Ulta or I tried to take it back. First of all they wanted my debit card and when they found out, it wasn't on it then they got really rude. The person who gave it to you has to come back and exchange it for you, but he's out of town. It makes no difference. So what should I do? Wait four months and then have him exchange the product? Oh no that is past our return policy. I can't approve that. Ma'am, I'm giving you this bottle. I just want the exact same bottle, but I want the conditioner. She would not allow it. She would not call a store manager. But this taught me a very good lesson shop Amazon. Easy returns numerous product products and I don't have to deal with snarky attitude from a sales clerk. read more

I am a HUGE makeup lover/enthusiast. I've been a frequent shopper at Ulta Beauty for about three years now, but my time shopping here has come to an end. When I enter other similar stores, I'm usually greeted properly and with a smile. When I go to this Ulta, getting an employee to say hello or help me is like pulling teeth. As a loyal customer, I feel like I should be treated better. Today I visited the store. I walked past two associates who were chatting at the door without hearing a hello or even a smile. After i greeted them, I went about my business. When I got to the checkout line, there were three employees behind the counter, but only one was ringing. The other two employees were chatting and staring at me. After about a couple of seconds, they walked off. I ended up putting my items down refusing to purchase anything from an establishment where I did not feel appreciated or valued. I have gone to this Ulta multiple times to attempt and get my eyebrows waxed either by the brow bar or the salon. I have called and booked an appointment as well as just a "walk in". The one time I called and booked an appointment and an hour before my appointment they called and told me they couldn't take my appointment anymore. Then a couple times when I have just walked in I was never helped or acknowledged as I walked in the door. I get everyone has off days but the staff here, on multiple occasions have been rude, dismissive, and disrespectful. They acted like my presence in the store was an inconvenience. I will never go to this Columbia store again. In the St. Louis stores the staff is so kind and welcoming everyday. So so so disappointed. read more

Me and my friends went into Ulta. I was in there to buy things, with my own money. I normally love this store but I was extremely disappointed and appalled. I will never go in there again. They racially profiled us and had all the employees following us. If it was anyone else it would have been different. I had 5 items in my hand. We were poc's and when we called corporate they hung up on us. I wish i took pictures, when there was employees blocking us in. I understand hours are different with COVID, but I called right around 6pm and asked if the store was open to which they said yes. I made sure to call before driving 20 minutes. Of course, I drove all the way there and they closed at 6. You need to update your hours on the website and on the phone ESPECIALLY now. I went there for wedding makeup and hair for myself and my bridesmaids and I was very disappointed. He spent time working on my eyes with this elaborate sunset look he wanted and then in the end I just walked out with black eyeshadow. My eyes are small so it looked like I was going on 3 days without sleep. Plus I wanted my hair curled and in the end he curled 2 pieces and that's it - my hair was flat by the ceremony and didn't look styled at all. Very disappointed he only spent 2 hours on me and then ran to another appointment. I was much happier with the girl that did all my bridesmaids hair - they looked lovely. Salon customer. Seen the stylist twice. She's fine. Here's the downside: Salon customers pay through the retail line. Retail line all the way to the back of the store? Too bad, you have to wait along with all the product buyers who can, if they're in a hurry, put their things down and come back another time, but you cannot because you've had your service and have to pay for it. You can get an equivalent stylist, same price at other professional salons and not have to stand in line for 20+ minutes to pay after being in the salon for an hour or more already. read more

I have had nothing but bad experiences at this location. I have never once had an employee show customer service to me. Yes, I know I am not a die hard makeup guru, and their customer service shows that. They usually acknowledge when I walk in and then they are done with me. I have always had issues with them having things in stock. Also, frequently they run sales that with so much of a purchase from a certain brand, you get something free. I have never gotten that item free because they are "out." Its funny that they are always out, even on the first day of that deal. I will never return to this location. I would rather drive out of town and spend money somewhere else. read more

I am so pleased with this location. The employees are genuinely polite and are willing to help you. It's a popular location so be prepared to see empty shelves but they are very quick to restock. One of the managers (I don't remember her name) spent nearly 45 minutes with me answering questions and helped me find products suitable for my oily skin. read more

Ok. Mixed review here. The two stars really doesn't reflect on this store in particular but on Ulta's customer service as a whole. First let me say, WHAT A FREAKING DISASTER!!! Went to return a Smashbox foundation and a Smashbox concealer due to a bad reaction with my skin, anyone that knows makeup knows these items clearly aren't cheap. The employees in the Columbia store were EXTREMELY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, don't get me wrong!! I remember in particular a very kind and helpful associate named Carmelita, and let me say, I still appreciate her assistance that day very much so! Anyway, I made the return transaction with cashier, Brittany, and even asked twice to be sure my return was processed and she reassured me it had been refunded to my debit card. Well come to find out two weeks later, it have never been processed. Believe me, I fully understand that mistakes happen, I have done my fair share of customer service jobs! So after speaking with the manager, Jasmine, she was very helpful and was sure to apologize on their behalf. Jasmine told me all I needed to do was to bring my card into the store to have the refund issued. Only problem is, I live in a very small town 2 hours away. I told Jasmine this and she didn't have any solution for me, that is also fine, she did her job and helped as far as she could. So after another two weeks of not being able to fit in a 4 hour roundtrip drive (which would cost just as much in gas as my refund would be) I decided to call corporate customer service in search of an alternate solution. I first spoke with a very rude unobliging representative who blatantly told me they could do nothing for me and basically I was screwed. I was honestly so taken aback by her attitude that I forgot to catch her name, unfortunately. I decided to call back and give it another shot and luckily got Eric, who was absolutely delightful and eager to help! He quickly got things moving for me, or at least I thought... 7 days later I have not received the phone call that I was supposed to get "within 24-48 hours". I am now stuck here, a month later, out about $78, trying to contact ANYONE in customer service and getting absolutely nowhere. I am %100 done with Ulta at this point, which is unfortunate because I just switched from doing my hauls at Sephora to Ulta because of their wide variety of brands and products, but I guess it's back to Sephora for me!! As a freshly licensed Makeup Artist, I am really in my peak of purchasing beauty products and I have given Ulta plenty of business since switching to them, so it is truly disappointing to see the way they treat their frequent customers, but good to know I suppose!! I went to get my eyebrows done and explained to the woman, Shelby, that I wanted her to just clean them up a little, to take very little off, and that I would rather she leaned towards taking too little, rather than too much. She said she totally understood, but I don't know if she actually didn't get it, or just didn't care, but I would hate to see what she would do to someone if they told her to just take the normal amount or just do what she wanted. I am extremely unhappy with the job she did on my brows, and I am appalled by her lack of respect for my wishes. read more

I love this place. I buy all my cosmetics there. Everyone is super helpful and friendly. Recently I had my hair cut and styled by Jenni. I have long curly hair and have had so much trouble finding someone who truly knows how to cut my kind of hair. JennI is a trained Devachan stylist, which is specific training on how to properly cut curly hair. She was amazing! She gave me all sorts of tips. She was meticulous in cutting my hair. It's never looked better. I will never go anywhere else! read more
