I would suggest not to believe the sign saying 189 steps.... it is definitely more! Take drinking water because you'll need that for sure. We went back in August and the heat was definitely there. The parking lot was pretty packed but throughout the trails people were pretty evenly spaced out. Not so much at the base of the falls themselves but there was still plenty of room to move around freely.

Parking: most people park at the Laurel-House Road parking area, because it is the closest. Or you can park at Mountain Top Historical Society, the old train station, which an extra mile. Starting from the old railroad station is nice, you can still see some old tracks on the ground. Walk to the overlook is fairly easy, once you get to the start point of Lower falls junction, it is where you need to be prepared. I recommend hiking shoe, especially in colder months where the ground is wet and iced. When you reach to the stone steps, they can get slippery. I am surprised no one fell in late March. Half of the steps were cover in ice and people were wearing regular sneakers. Once you reach the base of the two tier falls, the view is tremendous. If water levels are high, you can feel the energy of the water. There is a lot of spray from the falls when you get close. There is short trail to the middle tier pool. It was iced up during winter, spikes will definitely be useful. The end was amazing too. So close to the lead of the waterfall. You can keep going and follow Escarpment trail and follow the edge of the valley. There is monument for fireman Frank Layman who died during firefighting in 1900, at his monument, you can see route 23A bend around mountain. And if you keep going, there are a couple viewpoint to overlook the valley. Nice break points to enjoy the view and rest your legs.

The water in the guest rooms and kitchen smells like sulfur/farts/rotten eggs. I mean, it's extreme. Very, very extreme. All of the rooms have Jacuzzi's, and I just can't imagine submerging myself in one of those tubs with the smell of the water. Peeee-yew! 2. The venue is beautiful, but it's really up to the renters to make it what they want it. It takes a *lot* of work to set things up (benches for the ceremony, room for the reception, etc.), so you have to be prepared to put some sweat into the space. That being said, it was totally worth it to work hard. My cousin's wedding ended up being the most beautiful wedding I've been to in my life. It was also great to be able to rent out all of the guest rooms for the wedding party so we were all together. There's a giant/modern kitchen so you can cook or keep things cold in the fridge. All of the other living spaces are so totally kitschy. There are artifacts and knickknacks and weird things all over the place. I can't even begin to describe some of the things you'll find in the guest spaces...that's really part of the fun of staying here! Anyway, the landscaping is beautiful. And there are fainting goats! And a pig named Victoria! And chickens! And bunnies running everywhere. And you can have firewood delivered so you can make a bonfire and cook s'mores. Really I can't say enough about what a nice space this is. Hopefully one day everyone can rent out the rooms again and we can celebrate one of their anniversaries!

The cabin was about a 2.5hr drive from Brooklyn, NY. Pulling up to the house, the entrance was beautiful and with the snow settled in, everything was breathtaking. The Stone Cottage was sooooo amazingly cozy! Walking in, all you want to do is cozy up on the couch. The entire cabin was so peaceful. It was 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and you can tell that it was recently renovated. We weren't able to enjoy the outside as much because of the snow but Luna, my dog, had a lot of fun jumping around in the snow on the gated deck! We walked to the area with the bridge and the pond which was lovely to look at. There are absolutely no complaints- I just can't wait to be back during the warmer months to enjoy the outdoors with Luna more!

I hired Linda a year before my wedding. It's my first wedding, i have no clue what i'm doing, and…read morei'm a mom, work full time, and go to school full time. So needless to say, i put a lot of trust into her to help coordinate and facilitate. I had my initial appointment with her, which went well. She told me she was going to do all these things, and help with all these things. After that very first appointment, i started to immediately notice that she didn't follow through with the things she was saying. I had to stay on top of her asking if she did this or that, and the answer was always no with some excuse. Then she started canceling appointments. About 3 months in, i wrote Linda an e-mail expressing my concerns. I felt that my wedding wasn't a priority for her and if she was to busy with other clients to please let me know. She swore up and down she would get better about keeping appointments and giving my wedding the attention it deserves. Well, that was a lie too because she continued to cancel appointments. In the 6 months that i hired her and was paying her monthly, she did not keep 1 single appointment with me (besides the initial one to rope me in), and did not do a single thing to help plan my wedding. She never contacted vendors, never visited the venue, wasn't having monthly meetings with me, she literally did nothing. So finally 6 months in, i gave her one more chance, and i said if she cancelled this venue appointment i was firing her. Low and behold, 4 days before the reservation to visit the venue (for the 5th time) she cancelled. So i told her i was cancelling our contract for all of the above reasons. Linda quickly became very rude and acting very better then. She had excuses after excuses after excuses. She refused to give me so much as a penny back, she told me i just didn't understand billable hours and that i wasn't entitled to get any of that money back. I payed her $900 over 6 months. She did however offer me $250 to not write a bad review, which i declined because i would rather warn the next bride and keep her from wasting her money and adding a lot of stress.
