It's an enjoyable day to share with family. We noticed a few day camp trippers there. There's plenty of rides, for all ages and for those in search for adventure, and Midway games of skill (?). There is an assortment of demonstrations during the day fireworks in the evening and live music, also in the evening. Bring cash. I happen to come here many years back when I was younger, and have to say, a lot has changed for sure in terms of vendors, and also the disappearance of many of them. There are many reasons for it, but you can decide on that. Getting in was not so bad, but it did take a long time to get in and was a hassle. The lines were very long considering it was the first day when we visited. There was a lot of food and drink vendors to choose from, and some of them had a lot of cool and unique stuff. There are enough rides for a lot to enjoy, with it being gentle and intense. Games also is a plus for youngsters. There are also many events that go on in the fair for everyone's entertainment, such as concerts, pig races, to name a few. For animal lovers, there are plenty of animals to look at. A lot to provide, but the money will burn through, especially at the high prices. Can be annoying in ways, but make sure to bring enough. Bring on the fun! read more

This is always a great event although I don't make it every year, when I do come, I enjoy it. This time I can't my with family, the had the opportunity to enjoy the delicious feast. I love the competition, the atmosphere, the people, vendors and last but not the least... THE RIBS.. Next year if I'm alive I'll bring friends. Come early so you can have two settings if you choose and enjoy the classes and relaxation. read more

Been going for about 5 years now. Price is going up every year. Now price is $17.00. For a family of five it can get expensive with Tickets, Food, and Games. Rides are ok. Food is fair food. Nothing great. Animal section is a great addition. read more

I'm shocked nobody has reviewed this popular fair site! I've been to this fair every year for the past several years & I have to say it's average at best. I made the mistake of going opening night this year for the sale price of $40 per car load. Lines were insane with wait times of about half hour on average. Past years I have just paid the per person fee and it's been a better experience but overall you pay a hefty price for the visit. The rides/attractions seem to be in a fairly small area, as I thought there were more vendors/games than there were actual rides. They also have a farming section with farm animals. Previous years we've had the kids milk goats but this year they only had cows but no milking was permitted. read more

This is the first time visiting the Ulster County Fair and the in first time in probably 20 years going to a 'county' fair. My 18 month old had the time of her life today/night. Between the food, rides, animals, live music and hourly events happening this fair is one awesome place! Highlights: (I already listed them but I'll do it again!!) - food - love the funnel cake and lemonade - rides - it was my daughter's first time on a ride alone and absolutely LOVED the firetruck ride. - all the livestock was awesome. We found the little feed barn section with goats and next to it were kangaroos. I LOVED them! - live entertainment - Easton Corbin was there... Love him - bathrooms - hey have real bathrooms here! Not portapotties!!! Negatives: - we ate cheese steak from a vendor who was in the second row near the 4H stuff... The cheese steak was thick meat and just okay. I regret not getting sausage and peppers. - though we loved all the animals, they all stunk pretty bad. I know they are naturally smelly but to have that many in 1 confined area was quite unbearable. - the milkshake line was a 30 minute wait at 9 pm... And I was told that's the shortest it's been all day. - the merry go round broke down just when hubby was gonna take LO on it :( - they didn't have too many kiddy rides. Other than these few gripes we really enjoyed ourself. As we were leaving they were shooting off fireworks near the parking lot. Looked like a nice display. . . Had a TON of fun! I love that you buy a wristband and get everything else for free. Most fairs make you buy tickets for rides!!! I looooove the animals SO much I could spend all day with the horses and bunnies!! The rides were clean and felt safe, overall the area itself is kept very neat and tidy. it's just okay. i think it's overpriced if you don't want to ride the rides. they should def add an option for those that don't want to ride because it gets pricey if you're taking your kids and they're the only ones riding. big plus for all the 4h stuff. my kids love all the animals. it's not a bad night out all in all read more

It's disgusting here. Filthy, gross and too expensive now. The price went up since last year. Not worth it. Go to the Duchess County Fair instead. Much, much nicer experience and more fun for the kids. read more

The sign outside says "We honor our vets." But guess what? Don't expect a military discount. When I called to inquire, a supervisor named Patty said, "You're not special. Just because you're a veteran doesn't mean you get a discount. She was rude and defensive and hung up on me! No "honor" at the fair! My family and friends will not return. read more

Best county Fair around. Only costs $15.00 and that price includes EVERYTHING. Rides, parking, entertainment is all included. The environment is very friendly and clean. The farm animals are healthy and cute. I look forward to going to this fair every summer. I highly suggest going to this fair! read more

I grew up attending this local fair twenty, thirty years ago and I think it is even better now. For my first time back with my own teen and tweens and their grandmother, we had a beautiful, cool weather and $40 carload admission (first night.) Lines were light at opening time (4:00pm) and fortunately, we enjoyed a bunch and got them out of our system right off the bat. We ate an utterly fabulous dinner from the Jamaican Food stand; chicken curry, oxtail stew and sorrel punch (plus mac & cheese for the kids.) So good I wish I had asked for a business card. Then we headed to the farm side to see the animal exhibits and traveling zoo- so charming! The fairgrounds were immaculate and well organized. We considered hitting the rides again at 8:00, but lines were wrapped around the park. The crowd was heavy and a bit tough looking by then, so we hit the road. Go early to enjoy this sweet little fair with the family. read more
