Trevor Zoo at Millbrook School is the best bargain in Dutchess County. At only $7 adult admission, you get to see several very cool animals at this cozy zoo. Our visit was on a winter day, so we weren't expecting it to be the best day to view the animals. It was not at all bad. A lot of the animals were out, bearing the elements. This ishidden gem. The zoo is located in the school grounds. Students at the school do help out volunteering. It's a good place to explore with your family and kids. Was staying at a lake house in Copake and needed a cloudy day activity for kids. This was perfect. The zoo was inexpensive and far exceeded our expectations. We slowly meandered through, and I know that other reviews said that you could do it in 30 minutes, we took closer to 90. Would highly recommend the Trevor Zoo. read more

Great small zoo especially for the younger kids. We took our 2-5 year old grandchildren. Animals seemed well cared and cages were clean and well kept. We were able to see many different animals up close and even saw many of the animals at feeding time. Disappointed that we couldn't see the red pandas except via webcam as they were sleeping (my grandson's favorite animal which we hyped.) Grandchildren loved all the animals including more familiar ones like baby turkeys, rabbit, turtles, owls to more exotic ones like poison frogs, boa constrictor, binturong, wallabies and lemurs. Small enough with well laid paths so that the older ones excitedly walked freely with the 2 year old in his stroller. My favorite animal was the river otter which we watched for a while. Don't expect to see elephants or giraffes, but more than enough variety for our family's morning adventure. read more

I can't believe I forgot to write this review! What a great little zoo with wonderful staff! My husband and I came here during a visit to see our Aunt and we decided on the zoo as a way to spend the day. We went earlier in the year when it was still cold, but this was a fantastic day of strolling and there was practically no one there so we got to enjoy the quiet. The zoo itself is very well kept and small, but the perfect size to walk around and enjoy the scenery and variety of animals. I love that it is a campus where students come and help and learn and it is a requirement to do so. I wish I had that opportunity! This zoo is so organized and it was lovely to see specialized animals like red pandas, arctic foxes, and lemurs. We even got a chance to see a new baby lemur that had been recently born! What a great place to visit and was a perfect activity during covid and wonderful for any type of weather. I am looking forward to going back when it's warmer! read more

This is a wonderful little zoo on a beautiful campus. The staff is really friendly and knowledgeable. I love the concept and the execution. It won't take too long to experience the zoo, but it's absolutely worth the visit. They do have few times during the day where you can see them feed the animals, etc. There's also a small lawn where you could probably bring a lunch if you'd like. Make it a day and find a cute place nearby to have lunch if you don't want to bring one. You can also find a farm market and pick up some fresh goodies. read more

This place is a gem! Such a cool zoo. It's a little bit hard to find, but very much worth the trip. It's part of a boarding high school and includes the kids in the operations. I had the feeling right away that the animals were very well taken care of here. Thoughtful and informative placards accompanied every exhibit. They have a river otter exhibit, llamas, lots of cool birds making a home in their pond, owls, eagles, and a great indoor reptile/insect room. The whole experience is very relaxing and stimulating. It's a zoo that was created by a man who had a deep passion for animal care. He built up the site gradually over the years and you can see his passion in every detail. It's a win win win, because the students clearly benefit so much from caring for the animals. read more

The zoo is very small and the $7 entry fee is probably the right amount to pay if you have small kids (under 8) who are easily amazed by exotic animals. Older kids and adults will probably be disappointed, as we were. We saw at least two animals pacing back and forth, a sign of stress in a caged environment. The stench in the indoor exhibits was atrocious and memorable; memorable as in it took several washings to get the smell off our clothes. Plan other activities to fill your day because seeing the entire zoo will take about a half hour. read more

Went on Mothers Day Tree limbs fell onto my car in the Trevor Zoo parking lot. Staff took photos. About 3 days later I followed up and spoke to CFO. He told me he had nothing in place for this type of situation. And he could not help me. I have photos as well and nothing was posted about tree limbs falling in their parking lot. I would have thought he would have at least given me the chance to present 3 repair options. So what your saying Mr CFO is that you have no regard for anyone or their vehicle while parked in your lot on your grounds. I will never return. Maybe I need to be animal for them to care. read more

SUCH a cute zoo, perfect for toddlers who only have so much of an attention span!! We were in and out in just over an hour and the admission price can't be beat. We went on a cooler early fall day and saw most of the animals out and about. The grounds are beautiful, too. read more

How mazing is it to have a local zoo where the animals are cared for, in part, by students at the private school on which the zoo is located. Some unique animals too. CONS: that reptile room smells to high heaven! read more

Very interesting zoo with a helpful staff who provide lots of information. We were surprised at the size of the zoo and wide variety of animals from all different continents. We enjoyed the red wolves, pandas and lemurs. Each cage is very accessible and there are feeding throughout the day. There's a small picnic are next to the entrance. The entrance fee is very modest and the zoo is on the campus of the Millbrook School. There appears to be a very large staff and many staff buildings. We also noticed a lot of young volunteers helping the staff with the animals. It's a great place to spend a few hours observing animals from every continent. read more

The animals are very well cared for and their habitats appear attentively and compassionately designed. There's an unusual array of animals and the interactions between the animals is exciting. Our family was most intrigued by the lemurs, monkeys, and emus. The gift shop offers irresistible items and a few snacks and drinks. The grounds are nice and there's a lot of shade. Super cute little zoo. I took my 3 kids here and they really liked it. We spent about 2 hours here, working our way through at a leisurely pace. You can probably get through the entire zoo in 30 minutes if you're rushing. The marmosets were my favorite. They are so cute and tiny. They were really active while we were there, climbing all over their enclosure. The emus were cool too. They came right up to the fence to check everything out. This is a great place for little kids since it's so small but still fun to see different animals. They have a little sitting area in the middle of the zoo so we sat and let the kids run around. If you're looking for a great place to spend a couple hours then Trevor Zoo is the perfect place! I took my three young kids there today and we had a wonderful time. The zoo is beautiful, meticulously maintained, and has more than 180 animals from all different regions of the world (Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Americas). I loved that the entire zoo was shaded by a canopy of trees (especially since today was a warm one!); the exhibits were all well-labeled and readily accessible by visitors of all ages; and that my twin boys could easily see all the animals from their stroller. This zoo makes it so easy to have a relaxing and safe time. We easily made our reservation window online and bought tickets on the site. We never felt at risk by being too close to people.
