I gave them a quick tour to see where everything was and they knew exactly what to do. Every step of the way they were showing us the importance of the cleaning and how much it'll benefit our house. They provided before and after pictures along with everything their filter caught from the cleaning. It was clear our house needed it and may have never been done since it was first built. They were incredibly friendly, kind and willing to answer my questions. I appreciate the amazing work they did and the care they put into communicating the progress of their work. Overall the cost was the same that was quoted from the initial call - a little over $700. But it was well worth it, knowing our house is operating more efficiently and safely.

Better Air Northwest sent out an estimator (Eric) for free. He was really nice, helpful, and figured out how to solve our issue for a reasonable price! We received the estimate per email a couple days later and unlike other companies, no pressure was put on us to approve the job right away - instead we were given as long as we needed to discuss and ponder. As soon as we approved the estimate, we were contacted so we could get on the schedule. Somehow Edgar and Juan asked and also answered all the questions at the very beginning and we were able to do other things while they did these 2 jobs like the true professionals they are. They started by taping everything in the room with the closet, and it kept everything so clean! (Although they did clean up after - and left the place tidier than it started haha - not even kidding they cleaned our doormat I forgot to clean prior to their arrival!) The attached pictures were provided by them and show the beautiful job they did! But I've seen other little touches that proof they are all about getting the job done right. While Dane was wonderful in replacing our water heater's anode rod, it was quite bothersome that we…read morehad to pay $250 to have it replaced on a part covered under warranty. The water heater was installed 2 1/2 years ago by Rivival Heating and the anode rod needed to be replaced because "Portland water is so hard and full of minerals". The original quote for labor alone (not covered under warranty) was $340 but we got the manager to bring it down to $250. Still, the water heater is only 2 1/2 years old and that was an expense we did not anticipate when we bought the water heater. The prior one was not broken but when we had Rivival replace our furnace, they strongly suggested replacing the water heater at the same time. The old one never produced brown water but after just two years, the new one did. Maybe the water heater wasn't as good as the previous one? Not sure... Forgot to add, my home warranty service said they could not reimburse me because this is a "warranty issue". And to be truthful, the furnace job was great! Just wish the water heater repair didn't cost me anything. Next year, when it is out of warranty, I'll be able to file for reimbursement from my home warranty provider.

The return job was completed somewhat satisfactorily. When they returned to complete the job, the owner kept making statements about me updating the review to 5 stars in exchange for coming back and completing the original job. Read the 4 star review on here, as it was the same with that person as it was with us. Just like everyone elses negative reviews the Groupon is a bait and switch. They came to our house told us everything was very dirty and that everything will need to be brushed no vacuumd so our Groupon was worthless. $450 for a half done job(see pictures of AFTER the original work was done). We requested a detailed invoice of the service and when we didn't receive it I called to find out what the delay was. The person I spoke to just kept reiterating the same thing over and over. How dirty everything was and how they cleaned it and I was to prove to him where it was still dirty. Mind you he was looking at this very same review while on the phone. The last red flag that is they only take venmo AND it goes to a private individual under the name Marlene Gomez Perez. Please do not use this company.

From start to finish, they were professional, honest, respectful, knowledgeable, and very fairly priced. We had two projects for Alcon. First, we had a rat get into our crawl space, so we needed the vapor barrier and insulation replaced. Second, we wanted additional insulation in our attic because what we had was the minimum amount and had become worn down. During the inspection, Vincente also noticed that we had no insulation on an attic firewall, which both companies we received bids from agreed should have insulation. Alcon did an excellent job protecting our home during the work. They put plastic protection over all of our carpets and walls and did a great job cleaning up at the end of each day. The entire project took two days, and you would hardly have known they had been working in the house. One of the biggest reasons we chose Alcon was their pricing and honesty. We received bids from two companies. The other company was an approved Energy Trust of Oregon contractor and offered a $2,000 incentive for adding attic insulation. Even with that incentive, their price was still slightly higher than Alcon's. Without the incentive, their bid was more than $2,000 higher than Alcon's. I had always understood the incentive to be something intended to benefit the homeowner, rather than something that gets absorbed into the contractor's pricing. Alcon's straightforward and fair pricing really stood out to us, and we are so glad we went with them. Communication was excellent throughout the entire process. They were on time, easy to work with, clear in their communication, and very respectful of our home. The quality of the work has already made a noticeable difference. We immediately noticed that the temperature upstairs is much more consistent. Before the insulation work, we could walk up the stairs and feel the heat in the summer or the cold in the winter. Now, the temperature feels the same all the way up. We expect this improvement in insulation will also help us save energy. Vincente went above and beyond in several ways because of how knowledgeable and attentive he is. He noticed that a sump pump installed by our home's manufacturer was positioned incorrectly and offered to fix it for us at no charge. He also discovered a slow roof leak that we were able to have another company promptly repair. (Alcon does not repair shingles, but Vincente was thoughtful enough to point out the problem.) He also repaired a couple of our vent covers at no additional cost. Those extra things really say a lot about the kind of company Alcon is. They weren't just focused on completing the job and leaving. They genuinely cared about doing quality work and helping us take care of our home. When JB insulation removed the insulation under our home they never mentioned to us they knocked…read moredown and crushed our laundry ductwork. We discovered this later. When JB insulation replaced the vapor barrier under our house they did a poor job and left joists uncovered and ground exposed. When asked to come and correct their work to code, they poorly laid a second layer of vapor barrier and still did not properly cover the joists. So now we have to remove the doubled up areas to prevent mold from growing between the layers of plastic.
