I understand that this restaurant has only been open for about a week and a half, and I completely understand that new restaurants need time to work out the kinks. I also work in the food industry, so I try to be understanding when things don't go perfectly. Unfortunately, this experience went beyond just "opening week" issues.
For starters, our soda was forgotten twice. We also ordered ramen along with the rest of our food. After we had received our other dishes and started eating, I asked the server about the ramen. He said he would check on it. We continued eating, and by the time we were almost finished, I asked again. I was then told that it was still being worked on.
At that point, I asked for boxes for our other food and asked them to pack the ramen to go. We also ordered additional food to take home, and unbelievably, that food came out before the ramen we had originally ordered. The manager brought out the additional food, and I explained my frustration. He told me that this is a "ready-fire" restaurant. I explained that I understand how that works because I work in the food industry, but since we ordered everything together, the ramen should have been fired with the rest of our order.
What really surprised me was the lack of an apology or any attempt to make the situation right. I assumed, at the very least, that the ramen would be removed from the bill given how long we waited for it. However, it was still charged. As a manager myself, that is something I would have handled differently, so I was very taken aback by the response.
There was also an issue with the restroom. My son needed to use the bathroom, and I was told that the restaurant's restrooms were for employees only and that we would have to leave the restaurant and go into the mall to use one. I found that very odd, especially since I later found out that this wasn't actually the case--the restaurant's restrooms were apparently shut down due to plumbing issues. If that was the situation, it would have been much better to simply explain that to us rather than give us incorrect information.
I really wanted to give this place the benefit of the doubt because they are brand new, and I understand that opening a restaurant comes with challenges. But good customer service, communication, and simply acknowledging a customer's frustration should still be priorities from day one.
Hopefully they take this feedback seriously and improve as they get settled in, because unfortunately, our first experience was a very disappointing one. read more
