I really wanted to like this place given the 4.6 rating and 2,000+ reviews, but our experience was extremely disappointing. When we walked in, the restaurant felt run-down and it was freezing inside. It was so cold that my entire family kept our winter jackets on the whole meal ,I even had to keep my hood up. We noticed other diners were also wearing their coats, which says a lot. I repeatedly had to ask for hot tea just to stay warm. Service was also lacking. The waiter was inattentive, and despite the restaurant not being busy, no one came by to check on us or ask how the food was. As for the food: * The soup dumplings had almost no soup inside, and the dough was thick and heavy. * The egg and tomato soup was completely bland and had almost no flavor. One thing that may explain the high number of reviews: there's a QR code on the wall offering free bubble tea in exchange for leaving a review. That definitely makes the rating feel inflated. Honestly, if this restaurant were located in Flushing, it probably wouldn't last long given the level of competition and food quality standards there. This place is always bumping. It's clear to see why. Love that it appears family run, with incredibly polite and talented young adults running the front end -- this was actually one of the first places we tried to take our infant as new parents and they were so accommodating. Their vegetarian general Tso's and garlic eggplant are my absolute faves. My wife loves their desserts. I have been here numerous times when I'm craving authentic Chinese food not American chine takeout. This place is authentic as it comes and there are many menu is also in Chinese if you can read that which I can't. It's nice that they have pictures on the menus to show you how it looks like. The place is decorated nicely with an old school Chinese decor. The service is great and they have a robot that brings out your food and drinks. My favorite dish is the beef flat noodles. It most Chinese takeouts they call it chow fun but it's takes so much better here. The noodles aren't stuck together and the noodles are coated with flavor from the wok. Give this place a try if you're sick of American Chinese takeout and want authentic Chinese food. It's in the Stony Brook where there is a lot of Asian restaurants to cater to the Stony Brook University students but this is my go to. I just wished they had their liquor license but it's not going to stop me from coming here. read more

Food (4/5): Overall delicious and solid food however there were some issues. To start off the soup dumplings and scallion pancakes were quite solid. The shumai however not only took a long time to come out but the meat came out raw. Fortunately one of our friends caught it and they recooked it but could've been a health hazard. Service (2/5): The first few dishes of the crab soup dumplings, buns, two servings of scallion pancakes came fast and we're good. However, after that they seemed to have forgotten our other orders and brought out the check. We reminded them that we still didn't get the 2 pork soup dumplings and shumai. It took a while for the pork shumai to come out (15+ min after we told them) and it came out raw. They fortunately took it back and remade it but oddly didn't seem apologetic about serving us raw, hazardous meat. The pork soup dumplings they forgot also took a while. This spot is an okay place for Sichuan food and dim sum. The flavors in the sauces are rather plain though. The fish in Sichuan had a very heavy starch-based sauce with pretty little flavor and lots of oil. The shanghai greens were good and standard. Simple flavors but intended to be so. The egg fried rice was literally egg in rice with a soy sauce base. I was expecting some vegetables and more fragrance but it was really bland. The shrimp and pork shumai were juicy but a bit too briney and the filling was not well mixed. The soup dumplings (which came on the house) were flavorful though. I would come again but change my order to items I think they would make well. I'll peruse other reviews for inspiration! Costs are a bit higher than usual but generally fair. read more

Food was really great and super quick service. I had a group of 3 and we split two entree, 3 dumplings, and 1 scallion pancakes. You get a free soup dumpling if you spend over $50 in the restaurant. The chicken curry dumplings were my favorite and I loved the shrimp thin noodles. read more

Yes a blue collared Typical Chinese restaurant. I love the food there however my date did not, she would not go there again. Service is more what you expect with this category of eating. Red tiger offers some great tasting dumplings! Stopped by here for the first time and the serive was great! We had our food ordered and brought to us within minutes! The ambiance was basically like sitting down in a cozy restaurant ordering your steamy hot fresh buns and dumplings during a storm. Today we ordered the spicy king Pao chicken dumplings. Superb burst flavors of minced chicken with that chilly oil and soy sauce, definitely compliments the taste. Then we made our way with the curry chicken dumplings which had a Smokey flavor to it. Reallllly good! But the star of the show would probably have to be the dragon and phoenix. It definitely has this fishy, smell to it but I still looked it a lot and the dumplings were extremely soft and soaked up all that chilly and soy sauce very well! Did not need to use too much soy sauce but it's highly recommended. Definitely give Red Tiger a 2 thumbs up! Everything was great. read more

I was looking for authentic soup noodles and I found them. They are all hand made to order and gave a large variety. Sadly I was not impressed by the flavor, it was a bit bland for me, having had some great dumplings in. Flushing and at another establishment on Old Country Road. It's also a very small place, packed with people picking up. It would be worth it if the food was better. Packed by native families is a good sign, usually. read more

I totally dig this place. I have visited fairly regularly after I found out about it a few years back. They have a fantastic selection of steamed dumplings which burst on your mouth........and if you don't take caution, the roof of your mouth will be one big blister for a week. But seriously, they offer a nice variety of food that caters to both an Asian and American palate. Plenty of Asian folks frequent this place so you know you're getting more than your average Americanized Chinese food. All their buns are great as are their noidles. They also make some great soup bowls. Is it as good as many of the spots in Flushing? Well, in my opinion, it's damn close.........and you don't have to deal with the headache of finding street parking in Queens......so that's a BIG win. You gotta give this place a try! read more

I ordered from them a couple of days ago, and the food was horrid: shrimp shumai smelled of nasty shrimp; chicken mai fun with hardly any chicken or vegetables; sesame balls had tiny dots of red beans. Well, the food was packed well enough; didn't spill... The food is full of flavor except for the sunflower buns which lack filling and are sort of bland af... not terrible but I wouldn't bother ordering them again. The Singapore noodles (in my opinion) could use a bit of a peanut/plum sauce thing goin on; dry and overloaded on noodles but lacking toppings... tasty. The chicken and broccoli is fresh af and delicious but I got two pieces that were impossibly chewy and too hard to eat. The cumin lamb is packed with cumin... maybe it's beef and they just trick us with hot pepper and cumin; I dnno but it's good- I combined parts of each dish over the noodles and I could eat for three days. So while I got enough to fill me up for sure, I'd still like a free rice or something when I'm spending over $55 on food... nope, gotta order that a la cart as they say. My belly doesn't feel great and I haven't even really dug into the dish... I dnno The food is tasty but not perfect and the price tags doesn't entice me to go back (I will go back because there's a couple dumplings on the menu I want to be disappointed by) read more

Just talking about the food. Sugar must be their favorite seasoning, used tons of it on everything. I haven't been here in a while, the quality was going down so we only come by if we happen to be right there. The food used to be great, then become just passable, now, must avoid. The pan fried noodle dish was completely inedible. The soup dumplings are worst then store bought frozen from american markets. None of the variety of dumplings and dimsum are anything close to freshly made. About $100 in food and drinks for 2, and everything was bad. It's a shame this review needed to be made.
