Once we paid them, they rarely showed up. They took almost two months to do a one week job.

My problem was solved but I should have asked about pricing policies before scheduling service. I…read moredid not, and no info was offered. My problem was lack of heat (in winter) due to furnace tripping the breaker. A heating tech was sent. He replaced a heat sequencer. About 30 minutes after the tech left, the breaker tripped again. A few hours later Jestings sent an electrician who determined the breaker was "burned" and needed replacement. The electrician did not have a breaker with him and said he would put in a temporary one and return with the correct breaker. He came the next day and replaced the breaker. I was charged $90 in labor for each of the three calls, totalling $270 just for the labor. Materials and taxes brought the bill to $358. I questioned why I was being charged twice for the breaker replacement as these might routinely be carried on the truck, especially when the call concerns a potentially bad breaker. (I was told their electricians don't carry anything on the truck.) If they had asked, I could easily have opened the electrical box and communicated the number over the phone. Or texted a picture. It seems to me this third visit was a manufactured and unnecessary one. I was very disappointed in their policy but my fault for not asking, I guess. Service was provided within 6 hours. Office staff member was responsive and courteous over the phone. This was somewhat of an emergency so I am grateful that Jestings came to my aid and managed to fix the problem.

I got quotes and presentations from 4 different vendors and the pitch and price was exactly the same - hour long presentation and a $30k cost. However, what each vendor tells you is that IF you qualify a $10k rebate is available and your net cost is $20k. Essentially the rebate is a scam - it just gives contractors the ability to inflate the prices and use the rebate to make the system sound cheaper than it really is. I finally met with McIver and he was able to simplify the entire process. He is not a Mass Save contractor. So he does not work the rebate, just offers a strait-up cost to install the system. When he gave me his quote, I quickly figured out that Dan McIver was an honest man and that the whole Mass Rebate program was a scam. His quote with the similar equipment and the same number of mini-splits was $13,500. I hired him for the job and they started within a week. One of my biggest concerns was esthetics - I was worried about too many refrigeration lines running around the outside of the house. Our house is a rental property in Cape Cod that had a lot of charm to it and we did not want to ruin the integrity of it. Dan came up with a brilliant solution and was able to run most of the lines through the basement to minimize the lines on the outside of the house - we were so pleased with this solution. His team did a fantastic job building out the system - they were clean and finished the project on the timeline he quoted. The work was high quality!! Net is that Dan took a very complicated buying process and made it simple and affordable. He is highly recommended for the quality of his work, pricing and his honest and straightforward approach!

Dan is great. Extremely knowledgeable and quick to diagnose and fix my issues. Saving his number…read morefor future jobs.

We decided to install central AC in our home, which has oil/forced hot water heating. Based on the…read moreconstraints of our house, we ended up with a combo ducted and ductless system. The advantage of the ductless (mini-splits) is that they are independently controlled and have a heat pump. Also, at this time National Grid is offering rebates for heat pumps. In the end, I was happy with the design of the system provided by Ocean State Air. I am extremely happy with the quality of the work, and the professionalism of the technicians. I felt that the response time of my contact at Ocean State Air was reasonable. Ocean State Air is also approved by National Grid/RISE for AC/Heat Pump installation. That means an approved company must do the install in order to qualify for rebates. Ocean State Air quickly provided me with all the paperwork needed by RISE to get the rebate. Because this company was slammed with work, I did have to wait my turn, where I started getting quotes in March and the work was complete the end of July. Again, they were slammed with work, so this shows how popular they are. Installing central AC in a pre-existing home is not cheap. Other quotes were comparable. Right now, I have no regrets, and look forward to using the heat pumps.

Bobby came to check the problem. he spent a couple of hours going thru entire system & found the problem!! fixed the issue & helped me program that thermostat . excellent experience and will now talk to them next spring about mini splits.
