From the very first appointment, it was clear she was extremely knowledgeable, compassionate, thorough, and a wonderfully genuine person. The biggest thing my husband and I noticed off the bat was how she took the time to listen and provide creative and effective solutions to whatever particular symptom I was having. I felt empowered each trimester with the tools and education we were provided with during our appointments. We never felt rushed and always felt that we were in the best care possible. She gained our trust very quickly and being first-time parents, meant the world to us! Towards the end of my pregnancy, my blood pressure began to climb into the gestational hypertension range and it became clear that we would need to induce early. This was at the peak of the Omicron wave and despite the hospital being SUPER busy and understaffed, Dr. Barnes made sure we got in as quickly as possible. We created a plan together and felt like we were walking into my induction and delivery as a team. As fate would have it, I ended up developing pre-eclampsia. We felt so relieved that we had made the choice to deliver early. Her guidance made our situation a best-case scenario. In the hospital and during my postpartum recovery, she was consistently checking in, communicating with us, and providing me with the best possible solutions. She had our back every step of the way. My husband and I are SO grateful we found Dr. Barnes! We cannot rave about her enough and are pretty sure many of our friends will be heading her way in the coming years haha If you're looking for a doctor who is deeply passionate about her work and goes above and beyond for her patients, look no further. Unfortunately, I have had some frustrating experiences with the front office. There have been times when I waited around 15 minutes or more without anyone coming out to answer the phone. I also experienced an appointment being changed without anyone asking me first. I was simply told that the appointment had been changed, even though the original appointment had been scheduled for over three weeks. When you are already dealing with a sensitive situation, this can be very stressful. I also had an opportunity to speak with Nancy regarding what happened. I explained the timeline of events and went through what happened and when. After I finished explaining everything, there was an extended pause, and the only response I received was, "Yes, April can call you." I left the conversation feeling like my concerns had not really been heard or addressed. I do want to recognize April for trying to be helpful and assist with the situation. I appreciate that she has made an effort to help. My biggest concern is the communication and how the situation was handled. I had an appointment scheduled, and weeks later I was still having to scramble to establish care and figure out what was happening. I feel that a simple misunderstanding could have been handled with better communication and understanding from the beginning. I am sharing this because I think patients should be aware of my experience. People are often coming to a medical office during stressful and vulnerable times, and clear communication, patience, and understanding can make a big difference. I hope the office takes this feedback seriously and works toward improving the patient experience.

Was taken right in, had a thorough intake process, then met Jennifer, who spent 45 minutes talking to me about all of my concerns, leaving no stone unturned. A plethora of blood work, mammograms, and all the things I needed have been ordered and are happening. On a separate note, if you are looking for posh offices this is not it, they are clean and serviceable which is all I care about. Lisa Chang is the worst of the worst doctors I have ever had. On the first day I was in hospital for scheduled induction, she had 24-hour duty, went home to sleep and didnt return till i was into 37 hours on Pitocin. She scolded me not to cry before entering the operation room, not worthy of crying?! while my life and my baby's life were in her hands. Only for a couple hundred dollars more, she wants a surgery instead of natural birth. For an insurance covered procedure, she lied to me its cosmetic, I paid her cash and extra. Later, both Blue Shield and Optum confirmed she never billed. After I asked my money back, she claimed through insurance. Don't even think twice, go find another doctor.

I recently became pregnant with my fourth child and by week 8 I was feeling off - I completely went from feeling good and happy to all of a sudden feeling grief/loss. I immediately messaged Dr. Mitri and he assisted me with a list of doctors that would help guide me through my depression. Unfortunately, my gut feeling was correct. On my 12 week ultrasound my baby was not developing well. He had a lot of abnormalities. Dr. Mitri gave me guidance on my pregnancy and referred me to a specialist. Sadly, at my 16 week ultrasound following my cvs negative results we noticed the baby did not have a heartbeat. Dr. Mitri was so compassionate and assisted me in coordinating with the hospital to getting me induced and delivering the baby. I arrived on time and wasn't greeted or even acknowledged by the receptionist. In fact, she looked annoyed that I even bothered to come. I sat for about 35 minutes beyond my appointment time and finally decided to interact with the receptionist to ask if perhaps I was skipped or maybe even missed my call to come to the back? Needless to say, that conversation felt a bit unkind. A few minutes later, I was called in to see Dr. Robinson, her assistant was pleasant and eased the tension that I was feeling bc let's be honest, I wasn't thrilled to be there by that point. The doctor wasn't overly nice but wasn't mean either. It's hard enough to find a woman of color doctor in Los Angeles, but I'm not sure if I want a lack of warmth in a GYN. Perhaps she's kinder to a different kind of patient. She made a few recommendations and told me I could get dressed and left, never to be seen or heard from again. I wasn't even offered the option to use the restroom before we got started or after for that matter. It was a very uncomfortable experience. Somehow I managed to find a bathroom while I waited another 20 mins to be called to see the phlebotomist. Honorable mention: the nurse who took my blood was AMAZING. She was really nice to me, and it sucks that of all the people that you come into contact with at this office, only two made me feel welcomed. Best blood test I've ever had-- I didn't feel a thing and I wish I could take her to every appointment when blood needs to be drawn. After two weeks, I finally received my test results. Only one had a note from the practice explaining what those results meant. Thankfully, we live in an age of AI so chatGPT explained what my AMH results meant. All in all, I doubt I'll ever go back to this practice. Paying $300 to be treated as if my presence is a disruption isn't worth it to me. I left this office with nothing gained except negative emotions. Maybe it's not a space for young and employed women of color. Maybe it was simply too late in the day to find the strength to smile at a patient. Sadly, I will never know.

She then proceeded to try to talk me out of getting an IUD, saying that because I've never had children, I don't know what pain is. She was incredibly insensitive, and I couldn't believe I was talking to a medical professional. Additionally, she didn't offer or recommend any other birth control options. Instead, she was incredibly rude throughout the appointment.
