I just picked up my son's Nintendo switch. i had initially taken it to someone in Westchester who related that they couldnt figure out the issue and recommended going to a "uBreakiFix". The comical part is that he still had the switch open and i watched him screw it back together with every screw. When i brought it to UBREAKIFIX they were not able to fix the issue, which is fine- but they gave me the switch back with 9 screws missing. The employee said " it was like that. must have been whoever tried to fix it before". Which i knew was a lie because I WATCHED HIM PUT IT TOGETHER! looks like they canabalized my switch for parts tbh. the guy just shrugged his shoulders and didn't care. A bag of mixed feelings. There's something about handing over your entire life to a complete stranger to potentially fix or make worse that is extremely nerve-wracking. I will say the one who helped me had a smooth voice like Rami Malek, which really helped the transition. They identified the problem, my insurance gave me the coverage for a new laptop, and they gave me my old laptop back, took a while though since it was at some factory. After the whole ordeal, they flooded my email with Yelp review requests, so much so that they started going to my spam email. They were really bummed when I picked up my old crappy laptop instead of letting them fix it. I called HP customer service and the tech told me the price of on line diagnostic was $59 ( not sure or $49). I bought this computer for only $500 thus it is not worth to fix if it was a big problem. I called uBreakIFix at Norwalk branch, Jonathan answered the phone with a kind friendly voice. He told me that the diagnostic would be free. I met Dave at the front who was very nice as well. After diagnostic - motherboard shot. Dave gave me back the computer without charging me the money. After return home, I decided to call the store. Adam picked up the phone, he was very nice as well. I told Adam that I wanted to give the store my old computer which still has great body and asked them to kindly give me back the hard drive. Everyone is excellent here. Gaslighters about the computer and keep lying about where the computer is. They will tell us it's complete, then it's not in the store, etc. Been driving back and forth to the store to only get gaslight by every employee. They have had It over a week. Honestly, I only give it one star, would give zero if it let me. I took my computer there to be fixed. They told me it was $250 for a new mother board. They also offered a used computer for the same $250. Needless to say, I went with the used. They said it came with a free data transfer from my old computer. Once I got the new (used) one, the SD card slot did not work. I had to take it back for diagnosis. Now here we are at about 3 weeks from my initial drop off of my old computer. It took them about another three weeks to find out that they could not repair the SD card slot, so they got me another computer. When i got it home, I found out it did not have any of my data on it. Had to take it back again. After another two weeks, and a song and dance routine about how the technician had COVID, the manager proceeded to tell me that all my data was "lost." He also specifically added that " and we are not liable, just so you know...because this can be a big deal sometimes." He probably mentioned how they are not liable about three times. Mind you, I was not angry, nor visible upset. Even though I was. Since I had the old hard drive from my initial repair. they offered to transfer that data onto this new computer. The new computer was not compatible with my printer, so after about two moths of bringing things in, and taking them home, I requested a refund. They told me my refund was going to be $650! Thinking there was an error, I checked my bank statement. They charged me $728.61 for the computer I was told was $250! A used DELL desktop, that must have been at least 10 years old $728!!!!!!!! When I asked to speak to the manager about the rest of the refund, he would not call me back. Once I got their corporate involved, the manager REFUSED to issue the additional refund. He claimed it was for the cost of the data transfer. THE DATA THAT THEY DELETED!!! Now their corporate office is opening a case into this. The kids that work there are very nice, but the management is grimy. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, TOTAL GARBAGE. I guess we will see what happens. read more

I would say you are better of finding an alternative location or service provider than this operation. They are very limited in what they can and will do (the don't for example, fix Microsoft Surface laptops; "too difficult"). They also are not goal orientated in their execution. The counter service is slow and of the 3 visits I have made - twice their payment processing system was down and they asked customers for cash. Blah. Save yourself and your time. DO NOT GO HERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HAVE YOUR ELECTRONICS DESTROYED. I cracked my iPhone 11 Pro Max screen, not a bad crack at all, but enough that it was sharp & wanted it repaired. I called ahead of time to get a price quote, time estimate & find out if I could make an appointment. After being told it would cost $500 to repair the screen & only an hour, I drove it down there within 10 mins of the call..... The girl checking out charged me almost 160 less than I was quoted, when I asked, we then realized she was charging for a screen that was not compatible for my phone. After resolving this, she told me it would take 3-4hrs for repair. I told her that I was told it would take 1-2hrs & if it was going to be that long I needed the phone back & would bring it in the next day when I had more time. She then told me it would be done within an hour.... I come back 90 mins later & am then told they can calibrate my screen because my phone needs to be updated, so I begin the update & am then told it could take over an hour for them to do anything with it. I explain to the tech that's a problem & they suggest to me that I have them yet again remove my screen & put an "after market" screen on it as it would require for it to be calibrated. I very reluctantly agreed solely because I had no more time & I was told it would take under 10 mins for them to swap screens. Then they destroyed my phone. The first screen apparently was "defective," then they applied another & my phone wouldn't power on at all. The tech said they likely caused something to short circuit which was on them, but they couldn't fix it that day or potentially at all. They would "have to talk to their specialists (who conveniently were not there) & the earliest that could happen would be Friday (mindful this is a Wednesday) & even then, they wouldn't have an idea how long it would take to fix. I requested to speak to a manger, but then was told they never have managers in store, only reachable over phone, which once again, they weren't able to get ahold of one. So now a perfectly working, less than 2 year old phone, is now completely destroyed over me having a screen repair. I have no option but to replace the phone. I had to go to my phone company & replace the phone. I was told by them specifically, my broken phone would've been a $800-$1000 phone to trade in towards my replacement phone (even with a shattered screen) had they not short circuited the phone out & with the phone completely short circuited everything not re-backed to my cloud is now lost since the phone can't be connected to anything. So do yourself a favor, find somewhere else with competent people to fix your electronics unless you want to make my mistake & have a phone with one small cosmetic error become completely dead. This place should be renamed UBreakWeDestroy. I cannot emphasize enough, do not come here, absolutely TERRIBLE place, terrible staff & terrible products. They should not be in business & don't even deserve a one star rating. read more

I am really impressed with how they are operating their business during the Covid outbreak. We booked our appointment over the phone where they took down all the necessary information. Called when we were in front of the store, they set a box out for me and stepped back inside while I put the phone in the box. I was able to get my battery replaced for my Galaxy S8+ phone. I scheduled an appointment and dropped it off in the bin provided outside. They called and text about 5 hours later to my wife's phone to say that it was done. When l drove over to pick it up, they don't answer the door to knocking. I had to sit there for ( luckily only ) 15 minutes until an employee was leaving the store for me to get their attention so l could get my phone. Okay, so my computer had malware and stopped working because a hard drive was full in the middle of the COVID pandemic. I sent my laptop in asking for a data transfer to my other hard drive and to remove the malware. Unfortunately a game that I had been working on for 6 years stopped working after the data transfer and I could not locate the old save files on the secondary hard drive. I was so upset. I really wished i specified what exactly i wanted to be put on the secondary drive but they were so busy i didn't want to bother them anymore and didn't foresee files becoming lost or hidden. I sent the computer back and despite my craziness, Steven the manager worked really well with me and communicated with me throughout the entire process and was able to retrieve the save file data and even tested out my game to make sure it worked. Because they were able to rectify it in a timely manner and were so patient with me even though they are extremely busy right now, I will go back if needed. WARNING: Back up important files on an external drive or save a back up refresh on your computer before requesting a data transfer. Certain games may need to be reinstalled rather than transferred! read more

Brought my laptop for repair as there was no power, no light. After a week and a diagnosis of needing a new battery, I picked up the repair and brought it home, plugged it in, still no power, no light. Called back and they told me to come in for replacement battery; again after pick up a week later, no power, no lights. After a very frustrated call to the store, they assured if I brought it back they would correctly diagnose the issue. A week later a call from tech said it was the motherboard. I reluctantly agreed to replacement and after paying for repair at pick up brought it home and you guessed it, still no power on, laptop still dead. I immediately called to demand a refund, they requested I return to the store to process this. After arriving I confirmed with them the laptop was dead, they refused my refund my repair costs unless they kept my laptop to remove the motherboard. I will not let them near my laptop at this point as I do not trust anything about this store or their employees at this point. Stay far away from this place if you want to save your money, time and sanity! read more

Horrible service and I would question any positive review for something more the replacing a phone glass or battery. The reason I gave a star is you cannot post without one star? Consider anything else first from what I learned about the franchise and overall ownership. Read the one star reviews first and beware. My laptop spent two weeks here and was eventually returned with all my data lost and the machine not working correctly any longer. I asked to speak with the franchise owners Chris Laraia or Steve Gardner who own several stores in CT and was told by Kylen O'Sullivan their manager that they do not speak with any customers directly. She told me she only has authority to "try again" when a service fails and her job is to defer any request to speak with the owners and reference them to "corporate" office. The company is also owned by Asurion the insurance policy they try and sell everyone. I spoke with the corporate offices and Asurion and clearly the strategy for everyone is collect premiums. State regulators and insurance regulators ought to look into this company and the franchise owners. The contract which I cancelled since all this occurred within initial 30 days when you receive is 14 pages of disclaimers and possibly version 135. If they lost my data or damaged my hardware the Asurion folks told me even if correct they would not cover as all claims are only valid once the policy is active for 30 days and past cancelation. They sell the policy first and if they screw up the job they are not responsible? Crazy! The parent floated a 2.1 billion dollar debt note this summer which is "high risk" or in wall street slang junk grade investment to not improve the company but pay the owners a dividend the debt basically being paid back by the insurance premiums they will collect? CT insurance regulators, BBB look into this please. Two weeks with UBIF and 3 times I was called to store to pick up laptop and each time it was not ready? Twice I picked up the machine and immediately when I got it home it was not working properly and no data on the drive or the thumb drive? Both times when this occurred they claimed to have properly restored the data and viewed and in both cases nothing? During one return with the technician at my side I asked them to show me the data and he could not and stated he had no idea what they did? This was a simple replacement of a bad driver and I did not do at home as I was without a boot disk and unfortunately trusted UBIF with years of pictures which i had not backed up. After two weeks they returned the machine and told me it must have been a bad drive and not their fault because we saw a blue screen? Seriously that was the answer and again no owner was willing to speak with me and their manager confirmed they knew the situation and were instructed to return the PC with that explanation and I should contact corporate as the next step was sending the disk to data expert and certainly not something they could do? Of course not they did not backup the data, check the data , or quite frankly do anything they promised correctly. Corporate of course pointed out again that they were not responsible for the data or the damaged PC and I could not file a claim since the policy was only two weeks old but I could cancel it. What a joke. In the end the worst thing in my opinion was the atrocious service and the unwillingness of either Chris Laraia or Steve Gardner to speak with or meet with me. The staff was well trained and polite and I actually felt bad for all of them as when I asked to speak with the owners they knew the answer and they in my opinion knew I was wronged and the result was too bad. Again the state regulators for insurance and anyone that can review these practices need to really take a look at this business in CT and elsewhere. If I was Samsung, Google, Apple or anyone considering authorizing these folks to service my customers I would think again. I would never buy a phone or any device if this was my avenue for support. read more
