After my MacBook bricked and would not turn back on, I first tried bringing it to UBreakIFix. After weeks of delays and false promises, UBreakIFix told me that the logic board was damaged and as a result, I would need to pay for a replacement logic board, screen, and keyboard. In addition, my data would be unrecoverable. So, after doing my own research into logic board repairs for my specific model, I learned that it was possible to fix my MacBook and recover my data. So, after searching for local specialists, I found ThinqMac. My first conversation with one of their employees immediately made me feel that I was in good hands. The gentleman corroborated a lot of the information I had found out through my own research. The technicians ran some tests on my computer and eventually sent it out to a company that specializes in logic board repair. In the end, after being told by UBreakIFix and Apple that my data was unrecoverable and my computer would never turn on again, the folks at ThinqMac proved them wrong. This establishment was a super great find for me. It is really difficult to find a non-authorized apple shop that will provide a customer with un-restricted support that puts apple to shame. I am a power user and skilled technologist. Usually I fix my own gear as a quicker more cost effective way to extend the lifespan and usability of past tech purchases. This involves using 3rd party and aftermarket parts. However, sometimes staying up to date on how-to's on more delicate maintenance ops like the horrible butterfly keyboard problems on MacBooks, can get dicey (even with YouTube). These guys get it done. I worked with John over there. He is exceptional and went the extra mile. This place is the real deal and back up their own warranty. Applecare, even if you have the money to pay upfront (which is significant) doesn't cover much of what is needed from general use. Apple would rather sell you a new laptop with a crappy trade in price then take the effort to get creative when needed. They will not unless you get some sympathetic agent that knows how to work around the system. Recommend you check them out! read more

Although impossible to find, which is more the Street numbers than it is the store, these guys were great. Covid makes everything awkward so handing off my computer through an unlocked, opened, relocked door was impersonal, but necessary. They were very informative upfront on potential costs, and in the end charged me like $60 when I was ready to buy a new MacBook Pro. I like the $60 price better. I had the misfortune of spilling some wine on my Macbook Air. Despite immediate corrective action, the battery would no longer charge nor would it run off the power cord. I called Apple and they quoted me $700 minimum without even looking at it. At that price, I was resigned to just buying a new one, despite this one only being a year old. But first, I reached out to thinq mac to see what they could do. Despite the COVID-19 situation and the store itself being closed, they offered to take a look at it if I could drop it off out front. A day later, their technician Jon called me to say that it looked like only the power ports were shorted out. He ordered the new power ports, installed them, and it worked like new. Total cost of repair was under $100. It was refreshing to have such a great service experience and an honest repair job. thinq mac could easily have tried charging me hundreds of dollars for this repair. I highly recommend thinq mac. I have a 2015 MacBook pro that was water damaged for over a year. I tried taking it to Best buy where I bought the laptop from and they were unable/unwilling to fix it. Apple doesn't fix water damaged laptops, so they couldn't help me either. Thanks to thinq mac, especially Johnathan, my laptop is finally repaired and seems to be working as good as new! Amazing knowledge, honesty and customer service. I could not be more pleased with my experience. Iphone 6 is having trouble with charging dock. Verizon guys said it was "totally corroded" and there's nothing I could do. Found Thinq Mac through Google search and figured they could do a cleanup job. First off if the $100 cleanup doesn't work it's only $30. There's nothing I like more than people willing to be honest and not make you pay if they can't fix something. First off the woman who answers the phone was super nice and thorough and interested in helping. Not necessary but always a plus. When I arrived the tech (Osman?) looked in the port and saw no corrosion. I said the verizon guys said there's tons are you sure? He walked me through why he was doing, how the phone works, kept looking, and offered to open it up and see. Opened it, took off the port connector cover, no issues. Didn't know why charge port was sometimes failing but said take it to Apple and suggested they might just replace phone. I then asked some more questions about my backup and storage, he spent another 5-10 minutes patiently answering and explaining. How much for all this? NO CHARGE. Favorite new business. There are no words to describe how awesome and thorough this place is - I cracked my iPad mini screen into a zillion pieces while on vacation and they took their time to make sure it was properly replaced and worked like brand new. Granted it took a few days but I am willing to wait to make sure it is done right and I don't have to return. Fast, friendly, and 100% competent. My "vintage" MacBook Pro had a graphics card failure and wouldn't boot up. Jonathan removed the hard drive and transferred everything I needed from it to the new MB Pro. He listened, double-checked, and updated me the next morning. (iPhone 5s and iPhone 4s) My son's phone had not been charged in two months. It hardly seems like i need to write another 5 star review for these guys but I had such a great experience! I had an iPhone that was cracked on the front and back. My daughter had been using it that way for months, but the day after thanksgiving it pretty much stopped working. My iPhone was recently doused in water. The screen appeared to be damaged beyond repair. I read the other reviews and decided to try my luck with thinq mac in an effort to repair the phone. I dropped the phone off on Saturday afternoon. I got the phone back the following Thursday. It was working. Yea!!!! They did a three day treatment that worked. They charged me $50 to look at the phone, but the $50 went toward the treatment. They did tell me that the treatment may or may not work, and that they would call me if they needed to do more. I immediately thought that they might upsell the repair. They did not!!!!! They did only what they needed to do. I would bring all of my tech items to them in the future. My Macbook Pro 13" retina battery pretty much died. For those who know, the batteries on these laptops are glued in and are a pain to replace. Since this was my workhorse laptop, it was important for me to have it replaced in as few hours as possible, so the Apple Store in Stamford was not a good option because they wanted to keep the laptop for at least 24 hours.
