my first time in New york and Uber ruined my experience. they charged me $80 from the airport to the hotel and later I found other apps which were cheaper. But thats not the issue. I flew overnight and was really tired and acci left an item in the uber. as soon as I saw it gone which was literally 5mins after, I went straight to the app and followed the instruction. the driver didn't respond to uber calling him or the messages they left. i left him with my number and they said he shud respond within 24 hrs. he never called or anything and the app never called me or tried to resolve it. they kept telling me to be patient he will contcat me but im thinking other riders may find my item. They can track him but cant reach him and not even try to assure me they can. Funny thing is he thanked me on the app hours later for the tip. but can't respond to the lost item message. I kept mess support until they eventually sent me a message sayin they will transfer me to another department that will take over my situatio. it said they will respond in 6-12 hrs by email and never did. im getting emails for uber ads tho! but I will never use that service again my item was taken and they cant get their employe to even respond? I was stressed all day an still am. I feel robbed. a regular taxi would have seen it and brought it back or they are trained to check the seats before clients leave. LAST NIGHT, MY GIRLFRIEND and I went to the Dave Matthews Concert at the BB&T Pavilion in Camden, NJ. At 10:10PM, we requested a ride from UBER. Our journey would take us only ONE MILE....but, it is Camden...at night, so the prudent thing to do was hail a ride. UBER said our ride would arrive in 17 minutes. The cost, $9. After a half hour, we looked at our app...the driver cancelled the request and never told us. We requested another ride. The new "SURGE" fare? $18. Our ride would arrive in 14 minutes. Within minutes, the driver cancelled the ride. A new UBER request would now cost $27. THIS IS TOTAL BS! UBER had us waiting over an hour and never picked us up.....BUT THEY CHARGED US FOR THE RIDES...all of them...they hit our account for $80!!! Frustrated with UBER, we downloaded the LYFT app. Ride cost? $18. Okay, fine. After a couple of minutes, LYFT also cancelled our ride. New LYFT request? $27. New UBER request? $37...!!! UBER was a no-show. The UBER drivers are scamming the public. They accept ride requests, then cancel them without telling their customers who are standing on a street corner at MIDNIGHT in the middle of Camden, New Jersey. The drivers are cancelling rides so the customers have to make a new ride request at the higher "SURGE" prices. When we had all but given up hope of catching a ride, up pulls an old, beat-up, taxi cab. I approached the cabbie when he stopped at a stop sign. I asked him if he would take us to the City Hall train station. He was obviously tired and on his way home. He said, "Yes." I asked, "How much?" He said, "$7." Over 2 hours after requesting our UBER ride, a TAXI CAB delivered us safely to our destination. UBER should fire each and every driver who accepted, then cancelled our requests. I have been driving for Uber for over 3 months now as a side gig since I'm a mother of 3. Well let me tell you they are the worst to work for not just the fact that I have been told by many people that I picked up that they stole there money gave them wrong pricing or no driver at. Call for a ride and driver got there and never picked me up..I will use Lyft from now on

I ordered an Uber to come to our hotel. The reply said that we were to meet the Uber 2 blocks away. As we approached the corner the driver called and I asked him where he was. He hung up the phone. We waited for a few minutes and realized that he was not picking us up. We went back to the hotel and took a cab. A few hours later I received a text that the driver had cancelled. The next morning I received a message from Uber that the ride was cancelled because we refused to wear a mask which was required. It was a lie. We always wear a mask indoors and in cars. We never stepped foot in the car nor did we meet the driver. It took a lot of effort to report the driver to Uber. I finally did speak to an agent and she said that she would report the incident and send me a followup report. I am still waiting. I have not heard from Uber. read more

However both times today when I was on Uber pool it has picked someone up so far from my location or even someone who was near my location where my Uber driver was almost at my destination and had to go back all the way around. After being canceled 5 times within an hour from the Uber sent to me from my car dealership, I went onto my private account. After being told there was no one in the area that could accommodate me, I finally got this great driver. I thought I would be sitting on the street all night. I wanted to get my receipt online. I changed my password 2 hours ago which no longer works. I tried to change it again. They send me a code that leads back to no where. When I put in my home address for a destination it lists a brewery that is miles from my home. No matter how many times I try to correct it, Uber's website is oblivious. UBER SUCKS. read more

I have been using Uber consistently since this summer, and this weekend I had the opportunity to try UberX- twice. It just launched in Philly and from what I understand, there is some tension between the PPA and UberX. Here's my personal experience: First ride: Dan. After I chose my driver on the app I realized that my phone had a low battery. Uber has an option to contact your driver, so I texted mine and explained that my phone might die, said I would wait at the location, and provided him with my boyfriends number (who had a fully charged phone) in the event that he'd need to contact us. Our driver, Dan, greeted us and stated he had two phone chargers for me to use- an apple and an android. Woah! I was super excited about that. We rode in a Ford Hybrid SUV. He also provided us with cold bottled water and made sure we buckled up before he began the trip. The drive was safe and smooth. Second ride: Oleksandr. We rode in a Mazda sports car ( I forget the exact make/model). He had a great playlist going. While he wasn't as talkative as Dan, and there were no phone chargers or bottled water, he provided us with a safe ride home and thats what truly matters. Contrasting these experiences with a taxi experience I had last weekend, which didn't feel safe at all (the driver blowing through stop signs and screaming after he realized I would not be paying cash, belittling me asking if I had ever used a taxi in Philly before), I will consistently be using UberX so long as its an option in Philadelphia. read more

I attempted to use Uber a bit ago and I say attempted for a reason. I ordered an uber and the driver either had no idea where she was going or took her time lingering on every possible street on the other side of Broad(I.e. Blocks away for over 10 min.) so I canceled and ordered another Uber. This guy didn't even come to the right address. He parked on a completely different location altogether and stayed there and I ended up using a taxi instead. Even the guy I was with was like what the heck? 0/2 seriously? Uber had the nerve to charge me for the fare; $20 even though I never even laid eyes on the guy. When I complained to customer since, they gave me a credit to uber account (not reverse the charge to my credit card). I would not recommend uber to my worst enemy. Edit: the charge was dropped to $5 instead of $20. Either way they kept my money by issuing a credit for that amount instead of a refund. read more

Overall, my experiences with Uber have been positive. One of the things you should note is that unless you're in a hurry, the app is telling the driver which way to go and just let it. Usually Uber drivers have ax fairly hard vetting process also. read more

With each ride, I seem to be slipping off the Uber bandwagon more and more. Don't get me wrong: I love the convenience of an Uber. What's better than pulling out your phone and requesting a ride without even having to speak to another human? That part is great. But after that, it seems to go downhill. When I'm asked if I have a route preference and I say no, I don't mean, "Yes, please take me on the busiest streets during rush hour so we can sit in traffic and I can watch the bill go above what Uber says is the 'range' for the travel distance." My "no" means, "I didn't hail a cab and I wasn't planning on giving you step-by-step directions. Please be efficient." Tonight, I watched as my Uber driver disregarded the GPS synced with my phone -- the one that said the route was estimated to be 12 minutes. We arrived in 16 and half minutes. Fortunately, I had a credit on my account from a weird experience with an UberX driver during their opening weekend, so my total wasn't too high. Still a bit annoying, though. During another trip back in the summer, I felt like I was on a joy ride with a driver. He kept picking up his phone and chatting away while driving somewhat erratically. He also took one of the busiest roads during rush hour and my total was absurdly high. I complained to Uber and they reduced the rate. Such experiences make me hesitate to open my Uber app, aside from special occasions. read more

I really love the convenience of Uber, and use it almost everyday. However, keep in mind that if you are coming from the Airport, uber is NOT your best choice. Unless, of course, you know the precise route you want to take from the airport to your address. I was charged a whopping $55 for a ride to center city from the airport today. The reason? The driver took me all the way around old city and back in. When I requested a fare review, they said I could have always directed the driver to follow another route. Of course, on a highway, once a driver misses an exit, there's not much you can do. So get this only if you know the routes. read more

Uber and Lyft are really hit or miss. It really depends on the professionalism of the driver. Their ability to be honest and helpful. Honest means don't charge extra fees (Uber) for some ridiculous reason. Don't hit on passengers (Uber). Don't show up in a raggedy car (Lyft) after I paid for a comfort upgrade. So, far Uber is better than Lyft. But not by much. Sure, it is convenient but the professionalism needs to be upgraded/trained. read more

I recently used Uber for grocery delivery after receiving a coupon. I use instacart weekly so thought I would give it a try. Two items were refunded and the driver never asked if I'd like replacements of any kind and $23 of items were missing and one was so bad I don't know why anyone in their right mind would even put it in a cart. I never received the $23 back from Uber after messaging their customer service they just ignored my messages. I would never use this service again. Please do not use their grocery services if considering. I completely threw away $23 and now need to go back to the grocery store because I don't have enough food for the week. read more

But, now I just wanted to change my cell number. I did this with Lyft in 5 minutes from my cell. Not Uber. First a garbled voice voicemail. Then 5 email exchanges for my personal information. They're F@*#ing cab drivers! I gave them my email. old cell. new cell sent from my email signed with my address! I'm finding taxi driver phone #s now. I have 3. First time utilizing Uber in Philadelphia. Took it twice, once from the airport to my hotel adjacent to Drexel and then back to the airport. Ride from the airport was pretty smooth. Driver was polite, car was clean and we had a good conversation. Didn't have to wait long at all for a pick up. Only about 5-7 minutes. Cost was a little less than $20 not counting tip. Ride back to the airport was okay, but the car for the return trip had a faulty air conditioner and that doesn't do so well when the temps are almost 90 degrees. No chatting at all wit this driver, but that is okay. Overall very pleased with the service. I like being able to track the position of the car coming to pick you up and the app providing estimated arrival time. I also like not having to use cash and having the receipt for the trip emailed to My account. Overall, pretty impressed. Give it a try. read more

4 stars for the fact that Uber is apparently run by an uber (pun intended) douche bag, but 5 stars for Uber itself. I've used it in a couple of cities, and though I far prefer Uber X (which I don't believe is available in Philly), it's a solid means of transport. You download the app, it locates you, and in mere minutes a driver swoops in, escorts you to your location, and you leave. Yes, you just leave. Your credit card is stored in the app, tip is included, so you don't have to worry about someone given you gripes about using a credit card or try to figure out a tip. It's a bit more expensive than a taxi (and apparently nearly seizure inducing during prime times) but for your general "I need to go somewhere" needs, it's ace. read more

I scheduled my Uber the day before just to make sure I can get a Comfort SUV to make a post OPERATION appointment. The day of the appointment two drivers cancelled on me and it was 9:55am! Our appointment was at 10:45am and it takes 25 to 30 minutes to get there. The icing on cake, the Uber driver charged me a $10 fee for INCONVENIENCING HIM. I quickly made other arrangements with a local taxi service and they arrived in 10 minutes. My family member had a complete knee replacement and I requested that they please be allowed to sit in the front passenger seat so the leg can stretch appropriately and to be allowed to move the seat back for added leg room. This information I placed in the Uber comment section and asked them both, yes, both drivers, 1st driver had a black Jeep Cherokee and the 2nd a Toyota Camry, to please advise.  They could have responded to my request and I would have been fine with it, instead they cancelled, no warning, minutes before arriving. They have since then refunded me the $10 but left a bitter taste in my mouth. read more

I accidentally left my medic alert in an Uber car when the belt clip broke. Uber support has been basically useless. They contacted the driver but he "doesn't speak English" so they emailed him in Spanish. After 5 days of communications between Uber and me, nothing has happened. Uber keeps telling me to "be patient and give the driver time to respond'. So, your telling me that 1) the driver still might contact me after waiting 5 days and 2) there is no one in Uber support that speaks Spanish who can talk to the driver?? You obviously don't seem to care about your riders based on your support system, of lack of. You employ drivers, in the USA, who speak no English. You employ rude, ignorant and unprofessional drivers. You offer no helpful support, only BS suggestions that accomplish nothing! read more

I arranged a pick up in advance for a Christmas day between 8:00 - 8:15 am. The first person called a woman with a Jersey phone number. I gave her the code to enter the gate to pick me up and she said it didn't work. I told her to tell the guard, the next thing I knew after I contacted the guard she told me the woman had cancelled my ride. I had to get to 30th Street Station to catch a train. I called Uber and put in my phone number then I received a call from a gentleman and he said he had just dropped someone off in my complex and would be picking me up. I had to guide him where to come in the complex to pick me up. I was waiting outside of my apartment for him. He did get me to the train station on time. I received my bill from Uber and I'm charged a waiting fee. Unacceptable. No one had to wait for me but I had to wait for a driver after the 1st one cancelled. I tried to contact them and I couldn't contact anyone to tell them what happened. I'm very upset with them and I won't use them again. Uber , wow where to begin. Uber is incredibly overpriced, a lot of their male drivers are either sexually harassing people or refuse to take direction from women. The customer service is abysmal and It seems that anytime you complain about the drivers sexual harassment of you or anything inappropriate your account is disabled and or banned. Ive been continuously stolen from by drivers claiming to be on site and aren't . Then they call me asking to be guided, meanwhile I'm being charged a wait fee and I'm the one waiting ! In one month alone , $17.81 in wait fee charges of which $3 was legit . When I inquired about being refunded, they refused and said I had too many adjustments and wouldn't be able to. So basically your driver can rack up extra money in fraudulent wait fees and I am forced to pay? Absolute bullshit. Total nightmare , just stick with Lyft. read more

I came to Philadelphia to attend a wedding and was told to use uber. I spent 30 minutes downloading the app and creating an account Uber could not provide a driver with 4 hours notice to go three miles. Further, there is no phone number to call to resolve issues. And there is no email or chat function to resolve issues online. I called the local cab company and easy peasy; I have no idea why people use uber anymore. They have nice cars, but they are exceedingly unreliable. Biggest issue is there is no one to call to resolve issues with the app or anything. I continued the email exchange and suddenly I am able to get the approval open. I did everything except really summon a car. Since had access, assumed the issue was resolved. AS REALITY SUNK IN I realized the situation had not changed. I was initially able to log into the app. TODAY. My payment method was rejected ( know.tue card.os good). While Uber might do to provide urban hipsters a ride to the bar or club and back, Uber is a poor substitute for a business person trying to get a ride to the airport or train station. Our booking was made 48 hours in advance, we had a confirmation number, and on the day of travel, the driver was a no-show. Making matters worse, a call into Uber disclosed that the driver had never been contacted... "Would you like to talk to customer service?" is their standard answer, whether your plane is departing in three hours or thirty minutes, and this is after you have jumped through all of the ap hoops. Using Uber as a link in an important trip is like attending a university made up entirely of substitute teachers - you have no idea if anyone will show up, and you don't know what they'll be like if they do. Yesterday picked up a ride in cherry hill New Jersey and drove over 2.5 hours to New York 18 hours later I still haven't been credited with my payment when gas and tolls have already came from my pocket. Customer service is no help. What a disgrace. Will def not be driving for uber much longer. Lyft is 10x better also when I finished the ride I wasn't able to drive in that area. This is the second time this has happened to me with Uber. I get a ride and then get a message that the driver is finishing a ride nearby. Then it says he will be at my pickup in 13 minutes. 13 minutes later it tells me it found a ride that is closer. Uber should have a policy where the driver can't take your ride until completing a ride.
