It has been three hours, and I am no closer to finding out if Gesa is a good place to refinance a mortgage than when I first started. OMG! IF MCDONALD'S HAD A MICRO BANK BRANCH, IT WOULD BE CALLED GESA CREDIT UNION!…read more OMG! Gesa is a small kiosk at Safeway, in Puyallup, WA. If you want more than a small amount, they have to call the main office. They are rude. If you want to do anything more than a simple transaction, you have to talk to a tele teller on a zoom. They stare you down if you want to do something "complicated" like sending a wire transfer You are quizzed. Literally. They stare you down, assuming you are a scammer. Then they call the "fraud department" to check on you. They whisper into the phone while you are sitting there. They ASSUME you are trying to rip them off. They close your account if there is a whisper of a question. IF you don't pass, they hand you a check that you can't easily. You have to wait a week or two and "Order" your money from the main office in South Center, in Tukwila.

Sound Credit Union has been my only bank since I was 16. My dad was a longtime member and helped me…read moreset up my account, and I've just never left! This location is the closest one to me and I've been a couple of times. Once to go in and print a new debit card which I was able to get immediately with no problems, and once to go through the drive through. Both times I had great service from the tellers. I have three young kids so the idea of having to physically GO INTO the bank is enough to make my skin crawl, so I definitely appreciate being able to go through the drive through for simple tasks/transactions. Another feature that I appreciate about Sound is that they are very strict when it comes to fraud and suspicious transactions. So much so, that I have to call them and let them know whenever I am booking an Airbnb (apparently they see a lot of fraud/scams happening with people booking rental houses) and if I don't give them a heads up, the transaction is denied. Over the years I can't even tell you how many security calls I've gotten to ensure charges are mine. Overall have been super happy with my decision to stay with Sound and not sure if I'll ever make the jump to another bank!

it used to be the best... then they 'offshored' telephone support and it has become beyond…read morehorrible. the "agents", from third world countries, speak horrible english and are difficult to understand. they are also highly uncooperative! i've noticed in recent yours, their fraud protection has become very troublesome... while i do appreciate fraud protection, it too is beyond absurd. they will cancel your card if a 'fraudulent' charge is detected, sometimes leaving you stranded!! if you're lucky, you'll get a phone call, otherwise, you won't find out until you try to use the card and it's declined! whether you call them, or they call you, the agent starts blabbering off charges from your statement. if you don't recognize the charge, instead of blocking that vendor, they immediately cancel your card. as a result, i've been through five credit card numbers in the past two years, which makes it a big pain if you are using it to pay for subscriptions! to add insult to injury, they will not rush ship a replacement card, so you are away from home, you are screwed for several weeks until your card shows up they did this to me while i was on vacation, i told them: "i am on vacation and have no way to verify this until i get home... i still need to use this card to pay for vacation expenses. please block that suspicious charge without canceling my card, and i will confirm the charge when i get home." the automaton on the other end told me: "we can't do that, your account will be blocked until you confirm this charge", so either way, you won't have access to your account! when i asked if they could do an emergency card issue (as many good card companies do). they will say that "we can not do that. you will receive your new card in 2 weeks." they don't give a damn that they've left you stranded in the middle of nowhere! i have several other credit cards, and none of them have pulled this crap. i think that i've had two that actually canceled a card due to a fraudulent charge. one other problem: there is no way to make a payment to a becu credit card from any other financial institution, so if have other accounts, you have to deposit the money into your becu checking account before you can pay your credit card bill! it has gotten to the point where i can not trust becu when i am traveling because i don't want to be stranded!! i am in the process of starting my own business and would have gone right to becu, but due to recent experiences, i'm going to look elsewhere! i can't afford to be left stranded!
