All have been worth, but Oxen Hill Farm just puts a real personal touch to approach. Full shares, for big families (4+) and Half shares for smaller (less than 3); generally from June to October. A Fall extension is available for an additional price. If we can't eat our share before it goes to wast, then items are prepared and frozen, dehydrated and vacuum packed, or canned. Due to the interest in our Town we are afforded an in-town pick-up on Thursdays evenings. However, trips up to the Farm are always nice on a Saturday morning. At the Farm, you have a bit more choice than the in-town pick-up and you have browse through their nine herb beds and rows of flowers for the pick'n. Special purchases are available, too, my favorite the 20 pound cases of super ripe tomatoes. This has become my WeakEnd Warrior Passion once a year. Sauce and lots of it; basically a years worth. This year we ordered five 20 pound cases, plus about another 10 pounds from our garden. Equating to 45 quarts of frrrrresh sauce jared and sealed over a two day Saucy Fest. With Oxen Hill, it's all about fresh: Corn, Lettuces', Potatoes, Yams, Squashes, Tomatoes, Kale, Swiss Chard, Beets, Cucumbers, Garlic, Chives, Garlic Chives, Onion, Beans, Melons, Pumpkin, and so on!

I'm not sure what someone says to make an 18yr old cry, but this woman managed it. My kids were both so upset, that I tried to talk to the woman about it, and she turned around and began berating her teenage staff member, who hadn't been involved in the situation at all, saying that the girl needed to "defend herself." None of us knew the poor staffer and I tried to help her, but this older woman was bonkers. We left without purchasing anything and I won't be back.

I read reviews and gathered that it was a great place to visit, especially during the autumn time. The parking lot was spacious right off the busy road. They offer hayrides and there was a pumpkin patch; you can pick your own in the field or in the store. There was a garden center and farm store. The farm store had jams, jellies, apples, gourds, cookies, veggies, pumpkins, mums, hot sauces, etc. They had wheelbarrows for you to use, if you're planning to buy a few big pumpkins. They also had an apple fritter/donut/cider stand. I purchased half a dozen of apple fritters for $8; you can add extra cinnamon sugar. Those apple fritters looked like donut holes but tasted like apple donuts, it was very splendid! Overall, a great spot to stop by if you're into the small town farm vibes. There was a beautiful view of the Heublein tower on the hill and the fall foliage. It's the perfect fall activity!

This 75-acre farm opened as a U-Pick farm to the public since the 1980s. There are about 15,000…read moreapple trees which are no more than 6 feet tall due to the way it was planted. They planted it this way so people can reach it when the fruits are ready to be picked, genius idea. They also grow peaches, plums, nectarines, blueberries, various vegetables, and Asian pears. We went in September for apple picking. The parking lot was spacious, a nice farm stand, a patio area, and a picnic area. This year, apple picking started on 8/31/2024 and ends in late October. You have to check in at the window to purchase a ticket; they give you a bag and ticket for a tractor ride to the apple orchard. The farm stand has donuts, ice cream, cider, slushie, and a cafe. The tractor ride was fun; you can buy a ticket just for the tractor ride alone for $5 or $18 for a bag and tractor ride. We waited about 30 minutes for the tractor; it was the last tractor ride of the day and it was a busy Saturday. We went late in the season so most of the apples were picked over. We were able to get a bag full though. The property was amazing and the view of the hills from the orchard was lovely. After, we sat at the picnic table area and which had fire pits too. They had toys for the kids and there was live music. We tried out their hard cider (4-pack $24) and it was good. Overall, it's a fun place to do a fall festivitiy.

During my visit, the trees were full of Pink Lady, Evercrisp, Red Delicious, and Empire apples. After tasting these fresh, juicy picks straight from the tree, I don't think I can go back to store-bought apples - not that I really have a choice! Every bite was crisp perfection, and honestly, this might become an annual tradition for me. You can choose from a few bag sizes when you go apple-picking: Large ($40) - labeled at 30 lbs Medium ($25) - labeled at 12-15 lbs Small ($15) - labeled at 7-8 lbs Separate from the orchard, there's a large open field that's perfect for picnics, with plenty of seating and cozy fire pits to keep you warm. It's a beautiful, family-friendly space -- kids running around, birthday celebrations happening, and couples just relaxing in the fall breeze. You don't need to pick apples or pay any additional fees to enjoy this area, which is a big plus. Bring your own chairs if you want extra comfort. There were three food trucks on-site during my visit. My favorite was Pika Food Truck -- their Hot Honey Chicken Sandwich was delicious. Chef O's Streatery offered empanadas but they weren't my favourite-- a bit too salty and lacking flavor. We also tried a flight of ciders, which was such a fun way to sample different seasonal flavors. Before you leave, make sure to check out the scenic overlook -- it's stunning, especially with the fall foliage. I loved that they even had a tripod set up for easy photo-taking. So here I am back at Rogers Orchard, and it's just beautiful. Fresh vegetables and fruits, recently harvested corn on the cob, specialties, canned goods, apple cider donuts, and the star of the show... The fresh apple cider. If you are anywhere in the area, this is a wonderful stop to browse and impulse buy. Also, the prices are great on all the fruits and vegetables. I managed to pick up some pickled beets, some small pickles, a half dozen apple cider donuts, and of course, for the ride home, a nice cup of the freshly made apple cider. This apple cider was beyond delicious. I knew I should've bought a quart of it. Oh well, this will give me a reason to get back there soon. Bring your camera, as the Rogers Orchards grounds are really nice for a picture taking. Fresh native berries, cherries and snap peas, a sweet pup to greet us, and nostalgic honey sticks. This farm is a special place. We browsed the wonderful selection of homemade goods and purchased a few ready to go items on our way out. The Macaroni Salad, Potato Salad, and fresh salsa were all a perfect treat for lunch the next day. Oh yes and the strawberry fritters are a MUST. Pro tip* bring a cooler with ice so you can take some meal prep foods home! You'll be happy you did.
