We were driving by on our way to another farm and we saw the sign that said .99 for a pound of apples. We decided to check it out and we call to get more information about times and days. It just so happened that a truck was driving by and encouraged us to drive up the road where this lovely lady welcomed us and showed us the way to Apple picking. We were told and observed that they also sell Christmas trees and they have reopened the apple picking this year. Long story short we had an entire orchard just for ourselves and a great time picking Golden delicious and Gala apples. They had more varieties but these were our favorites. Cash only but a great value! We got a bushel of apples for $20! You can't beat that!

It's time for an update!…read more I want to start by saying if you have yet to come what are you waiting for?! But in all seriousness we have done a lot up here since I put the farm on the map. Lets start with our new kitchen! We have built a beautiful kitchen which has helped serve some delicious burgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, fries & grilled cheese for you to munch on. While waiting for your order you can walk to the other side of the building to grab a craft beer from Fieldcrest Brewing Company. We do not yet sell ice cream but the plan is to have it in 2023! We do sell cider donuts and s'mores in our country store to help with that sugar craving. We have a stage for our live music! Starting mid July we start our summer concert series which has been a huge hit with the community. I personally love seeing our field covered with lawn chairs and smiles every weekend. We provide lots of games for the kids such as sport balls, tumbling towers, and disc golf while you are enjoying the tunes of your favorite musicians! And when you need a break you can take a tractor ride around the farm! During the week we have provide sunset yoga as well as farmers markets! What better way to enjoy the views than supporting your local community vendors and or taking in some relaxing yoga with friends and family. We still have all your favorite apples for picking AND we planted 250 more trees with plans this fall to plant even more! This will help us prolong our season to Columbus Day Weekend a few years from now. Please do not climb on the trees. We do provide apple pickers for those hard to reach apples. Any broken branches could increase the risk of disease and or kill the tree. The farm has now also turned into a venue for events! We have had a few weddings now this year, including Dan and his new wife Brooke! So if you are looking for a wedding venue why not here! Please scroll through the many pictures to see some of their pictures for a visual. Some things you may notice when coming up, we no longer have the pumpkin patch and the cows have been sold. We have butchered two of the cows so if you are looking for some grass fed beef just find Dan or myself and we'll let you know what we have. A couple reminders: Please drive slow. This helps keep the dust at a minimal, our neighbors will appreciate it, and with all the children running around we want to keep everyone safe. We do not allow outside food and alcohol beverages. Please leave your coolers at home. We are a pet friendly farm! Please pick up after your furry friends after they do their business. This is a farm so you will come across bees also enjoying the apple. Look before you step when picking apples. Could easily step on a fallen apple and roll an ankle. We do encourage exploration! The view from the upper hill is amazing and we recommend taking a walk to enjoy the scenery. And without saying please pick up after yourself, a clean farm is a happy farm. Thank you in advance for coming. We look forward to making Fern Valley Farms a destination for you to come and enjoy with friends and family for years to come! They offer educational programs and internships. They grow all types of vegetables such as tomatoes, potatoes, carrots, and specialty crops. They also have honey and eggs. When in season, they have Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) from June to November and are at local farmer's market. On 2014, Simsbury Land Trust preserved some land on the farm; those parts are on Quarry Rd. and Old Farms Rd. The parking area for Wagner Woods was full when I went. There were about 5 parking spots. I decided to park at George Hall's farm, based on the information provided on Simsbury Land Trust's website. There's a kiosk and map showing how to get to Wagner Woods. Parking was on dirt and the Hall trail was a farm road at first; then it leads to power lines then the woods. The trail was blazed purple and it was short. It connected to the blue trail and various of other trails on the Wagner Woods property. It was an easy and enjoyable hike. I look forward to going back and checking out the farm in the summer.
