I read reviews and gathered that it was a great place to visit, especially during the autumn time. The parking lot was spacious right off the busy road. They offer hayrides and there was a pumpkin patch; you can pick your own in the field or in the store. There was a garden center and farm store. The farm store had jams, jellies, apples, gourds, cookies, veggies, pumpkins, mums, hot sauces, etc. They had wheelbarrows for you to use, if you're planning to buy a few big pumpkins. They also had an apple fritter/donut/cider stand. I purchased half a dozen of apple fritters for $8; you can add extra cinnamon sugar. Those apple fritters looked like donut holes but tasted like apple donuts, it was very splendid! Overall, a great spot to stop by if you're into the small town farm vibes. There was a beautiful view of the Heublein tower on the hill and the fall foliage. It's the perfect fall activity!

In the case of Tulmeadow Farm and Lacroix's Homemade (I'm posting the same update for both), I have to admit that I had it somewhat wrong. Both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's made @cticecreamtour's Top 15 CT Creameries. My original reviews for both Tulmeadow and Lacroix's were both good btw. I just didn't initially connect with the flavors I tried in the way that I did with my other CT favorites. Since those initial reviews, everything I tried at each has been a banger. At Tulmeadow, I recently had Red Raspberry Chocolate Chip, Marshmallow Toasted Cornflake, Chocolate Raspberry Raspberry Curd and the best flavor I've had this year -- Double Raspberry Crumbcake. The flavors all popped. The use of intensely flavored raspberry curd in a couple of the ice creams was next level. The colors were right on. The texture was top tier. Service was friendly and the farm setting adds to the experience. Tulmeadow is 5 Stars and I'm upgrading my earlier review.

It's also a textural thing for me. So there was a bit of hesitation as well. I thought the ice cream was excellent. They had great flavors to choose from. I asked what the smallest size was that they could do two flavors in and they were more than willing to accommodate the kiddie cup, which was still plenty of ice cream for me. I think the sign said it's 3 oz, but it at least seemed like more to me. As good as the red raspberry was, I think I preferred the burnt honey. The flavor was strong went well with the naturally occurring cream flavor. There was a lot of parking on the side of the building. I think there was an indoor area, though I can't confirm if you can order ice cream inside. I used the outdoor window to order. I also found the prices to be reasonable. Great first experience. I would definitely recommend the ice cream. It did not disappoint, and I look forward to having it again.

Once you arrive you'll know you're at the right place when you see the giant backwards "EGGS" sign on the front of the red barn. I started by going inside their Egg Room and Farm Store, which is not very big, but does sell farm-fresh eggs, local honey, jams, pork and grass-fed beef, etc. They also have a lot of merchandise/souvenirs with their backwards "EGGS" logo. While you're inside, say hi to the birds, guinea pigs, and baby chickens that are near the register. After looking around the farm store, I went outside to check out the petting zoo. Admission is $8.00, with children under 2 and seniors over 80 being free. You can also buy a cup of grain for $2.00 to feed the animals, or a bucket for $5.00. Flamig Farm has a fairly extensive petting zoo, with pigs, goats, donkeys, sheep, alpaca, llamas, horses, cows, emus, chickens, geese and ducks, and more! You can pet and feed most of the animals, who were very friendly! Keep in mind that the petting zoo is only open from April until mid-November, 9am-5pm. Dogs are also not permitted on the farm unless they are certified Service Dogs with proper paperwork. The farm also offers pony rides for kids on Saturdays/Sundays from 11am-3pm, April through November, weather permitting. It's $5.00 per ride, with an 80-pound weight limit. Tractor rides are also available by reservation, or during the fall on weekends from 11am-3pm, weather permitting. $5.00 per person, and under age 2 is free. During the month of October, the farm offers a "Haunted Walkthrough," and during December they have visits with Santa Clause. Make sure to check their website for dates/hours and to buy tickets in advance. The only staff member I really interacted with was when I bought my ticket to the petting zoo, but she was friendly. Overall Flamig Farm is a great spot to spend an afternoon and make some new animal friends. I would highly recommend checking it out!

The kids had fun feeding the farm animals. I will have to admit I had fun too. There are all sorts of farm animals, such as chickens, cats, dogs, goats, horses, bunnies, pigs and more. I am a cat person and I enjoy looking for the barn cats. The place is pretty clean for a farm and the kids enjoy the tractor ride. All the employees were nice and friendly. This is clearly a local favorite and it is set up at the entrance to a local family farm. This is where they sort of lost me because I grew up on a farm. These places are never the entertainment for me that they are to others. But I understand the appeal to the local community and the length of the lines to buy ice cream in summer is a supporting proof of that. Sadly they have limited flavors and you cannot see or taste them before choosing, as most all of our ice cream places at home have available. I saw only a few on the list that I would order and chose the coffee flavor, hoping it was light in color and flavor. It was not. This is a problem for the caffeine low tolerance folks so don't choose it if you are one like me. There were few fruit flavors too, which surprised me in summer. The people were nice, the servings ample and the line moved quickly. There is seating at wooden picnic tables which face a fenced area where there are some animals to see. I think city residents would clearly enjoy this part more than I did. They serve cones and cups, but on such a hot day they recommended cups as safer though one of our hosts chose the cone anyway. I might look further for ice cream should we go back again. But the quality was fine and the portions substantial and probably more than I needed anyway. We like the prices at Aldi, lower than those of any competing groceries, and we're especially fond of their fresh fish and produce, which are always in fact fresh. Non-perishables like canned soups as well as dairy products are also much lower priced than in other stores. The staff hustles a lot and maybe doesn't interact with customers as much as at some stores, but we've always found them helpful when we needed help.

The wide assortment of beautiful, rich, fresh and very colorful Mums instantly caught my eye. These are so big and full of volume. They had orange, yellow, red, even white, I don't think I've seen white Mums before. Of course, they also had every pumpkin under the sun, in every shape, size and color. Inside they sell gardening supplies, and decor for your garden. I thought it was interesting that they have antique jewelry for sale at this nursery. They also have a beautiful greenhouse. I really enjoyed browsing through so much of their colorful inventory. Their prices are a bit higher on the Mums. This is a lovely nursery worthy of your visit!
