If a 0 was allowed...that's what I would give them. For the amount of money it cost my sister to move from Texas to Tennessee, NOT WORTH IT. They should pay her for all the damage to her property. The way it was packed was like they threw it in the truck and hoped for the best. The truck was late showing up and then the packers were late. Three packers and only two packed. The other one sat and complained the entire time about the heat. Once the truck showed up, it was a free for all. Once the truck finally showed up in Tennessee, I couldn't believe what I saw when we opened the back of the truck. Things came falling down on us. Found U-Pack through a Facebook ad and so glad I did. From the initial call to set up delivery of a trailer at the point of moving to the pickup of the trailer at our destination it couldn't have gone any easier. We received quotes from 3 moving companies and all 3 were in the $10k range. U-Pack was less than half that amount and worth it. Keep in mind it's called U-Pack for a reason. Costs are based on how much of the trailer you use so if you use more than your initial quote says then the final charge will be more. We were estimated to use 17' but ended up using 26' so our quote and final charges were different. I think this is where some negative reviews on hidden prices are off base. If you don't mind loading and unloading your household goods then I'd highly recommend U-Pack. read more

I found this moving option by mistake but I'm so glad I did. Things went smoothly after I talked to a representative and set everything up. I used a 28 ft. trailer thinking that would be enough to get all my household goods into it...by the end we found out we better add more to get it all to the new destination. Adding however many more square footage was easy...I was delivered another trailer that same night and we got it picked up the next day! It arrived at the new destination and when we were ready to have it picked up it was that day! I am happy with the results and I will recommend this option to my family and friends!!! read more

I was moving from California to San Antonio Texas. Looked up moving companies and noticed U- pack. It seemed to be a good company on paper. Well let's just get to the fun stuff, first off you call U-pack and they use Old Dominion as the carrier. Second off guess who you call when you have a question????Yep you guessed it ????? These idiots have two different phone numbers and they gave East coast numbers. Plus they are closed on the weekends.They know you are on the west coast. So why give us phone numbers that are completely usless. read more

Our experience using U-Pack for a long distance move to TX was excellent. We found their pricing to be much more reasonable than the other "drop off and pack your container" companies we received bids from. We also liked that we could have a 28 foot box delivered and would be charged for only the space needed, as it was difficult to know up front. We packed the box ourselves, using up all 28 feet and aside from some minor road rash from items rubbing together, our contents were in great condition when they arrived. We also had a good experience with the movers they coordinated on our behalf, to unload the trailer in TX. We also found their customer service to be really excellent. read more

They lied about everything, especially about a quote "that would not change or have any surprises". The quote did charge from $2300 to $2800 and this came from an agent that sounded like she was on drugs or was barely coherent when I spoke to her (and she sent the second quote). This person was deliberately confusing, kept changing dates and facts as she spoke to me and seemed determined -- if a drunk or drugged person can be determined -- to upcharge me as much as she could. I think their overall business is really smart and I loved my portal that showed me everything related to my order, including tracking of the freight. -My only complaint is there was no mention of having to setup an appointment for the freight to be dropped off at my destination. I had planned for movers to come on the last day the freight was supposed to arrive. When the allotted timeframe was running out I called and this woman claimed someone had called me three separate times that AM to setup a drop off appointment. Which just isn't true. I had my phone on me all day waiting. I even checked my profile info, all correct. Because of this, I had to cancel with the movers! Thank goodness they were forgiving because otherwise I'd have to pay a cancellation fee (which is standard). I also had to last minute find anyone who could come next day because my movers were booked up. I also had to stay at my accommodations another night. They will lie to you, poorly pack your items, toss them in the truck, lie some more, lazy workers, your furniture will be damaged your tv's ruined and they will tell you oh well you can't prove we did it so we won't pay anything. U-pack-Moving staffers-Old Dominion, all work together. No communication, truck was late, packers, showed up even later. From Texas to Tennessee, most furniture was BROKEN. Entire load, was not secured or packed well, shifted. Packing was done so poorly, 3 10x10 storage units did NOT fit on a 26'or 28' trailer..??? I wouldn't waste any money or time, to have all my stuff ruined! read more

Moving at its Best! I use U-pack movers whenever I have a multiple state move. I moved from Tucson to San Antonio, which is about 900 miles. What they do is drop off a 28 foot trailer, that's half of an 18 wheeler trailer, and you have a week to load it up at your leisure. After, your trailer is fully loaded, you lock it with the official keyed lock that they give you that only the driver of the truck has. Then, you call the local office and tell them you are ready. ABF has over 300 locations nationwide. Within 24 hours the driver will come and pick up the trailer and transport it to your destination, whether that is to a house, storage facility, or their main warehouse in that city, if you aren't ready to unpack. You have 30 days to call them without a storage fee. I had mine delivered to my storage facility and unloaded half the stuff. I had a local moving truck there also to load with the stuff headed to my house. I couldn't be happier with this professional company. It cost $2700 to move a 4 bedroom house over 1000 miles. I am so happy I used U-Pack to move some items for me. I hired professional packers (so to speak) and they loaded the cube for me. Everything got to the destination in good shape. A few boxes did shift, but that was because the packers didn't tighten the straps tight enough. The people I dealt with were great and the cube was delivered on time and actually got to it destination before it was supposed. All in all, I would use U-Pack again. read more

If you have professional movers,with equipment, ropes, dollies, rail, laborers and all the extras this can be very beneficial. This service is STRICTLY DRIVERS ONLY!!!!. YOU COORDINATE AND DO IT YOURSELF. That was my introduction. This was a lifesaver for me. I had coordinated everything, had additional costs out of pocket for movers to load, unload, and assemble. It was very cold weather and UPACK had my shipment long distance of 998 miles in 3 days. Then, Of course, I had to have movers come, download and roll out everything. UPACK touches nothing. This was my 3rd move w/ABF Freight and U-Pack in San Antonio in 18 months. I moved 2 Relo Cubes and one part of a trailer. They are most accommodating, explain every step, and the drivers go over every detail. The paperwork is very thorough, and if there are discrepancies, ABF works to correct them immediately.The key is to ask specific questions and you'll get specific answers. I have been quite satisfied, and my only suggestion is that some office personnel with U-Pack need more detailed training. I have NOT found that to be the case with the ABF Team in the field, which has been a great relief. Robert was my driver recently, and he even checked in with the storage facility, asked permission to drop the cube & explained all procedures. We had a long move from TX to IL, they took way shorter than we expected to deliver the containers at the facility. They went out of their way to accommodate to our schedule that changed drastically and unexpectedly. I recommend UPACK 100%. They were a decent service at most. Nothing like the reviews that I actually read. And I did my research. I debated about giving them 3 stars simply because I caught so much trouble trying to even get stuff together. Moving from one state to another is already difficult in itself so having to hire a moving service I thought would have taken some of the stress off. Now they do get 5 stars for being affordable. But they get 1 star for basically giving me a broom closet box to move my stuff in. When i first received my moving pod it was so small that only my washer and dryer and some of my boxes would fit. I had to switch from a pod to a moving trailer. Even then I was given the space of a small wash room. Mind you I had an entire one bedroom apartment to move PLUS the boxes that I had packed. Needles to say it wasn't enough space and they charge you for every square you use AFTER the assigned space. This actually ended up being cheaper than the pod. Which is another reason I will let them have the 3 stars. Another reason for 3 stars is that everyone I talked to was able to actually help me in some way. So they do have good customer service up until they actually got me to my destination. NO ONE actually told me i would have to call them to schedule for my drop off. So just a heads up. You have to schedule for your pod or trailer to be delivered to you and you have to schedule when it actually gets picked up. Then schedule when it will be dropped off to you at whatever location your at. So all in all they have their highs and they have their lows. I appreciate them for what they did but next time I think I will just do it myself. Oh and as far as damage to my property goes??? I was actually surprised to find a minimum of damage. I'm not sure if it was due to U-Pack or my family that helped me move which is why I didn't really make a fuss about it. read more

this was the most horrible moving experience I've had. First, the customer service reps at upack were not that bad. the day the trailer came the driver was upset because he came in the morning and I told him we had been scheduled in the afternoon, so he left (seemed upset) and then instead of coming 3-5 pm as I had been scheduled he did not show up until nighttime, so we had to go buy a lock because we had to leave town before nighttime and we waited until 7 pm for them and no one showed up. They broke the lock and opened the container I guess as they usually do to measure amount and adjust your bulkhead. When we received trailer in Florida OMG the amount of damage is incredible. it would have cost me less to sell all my things than to transport them and them have them all break. My son's crib was ALL banged up, our washer/dryer banged up, fridge, entertainment center and armoire with significant dents, our matresses and beds full of dirt and dust, dining chairs overheated and all broken up. I wanted to cry, I have used packrat as well as the uhaul boxes and NEVER did I have this amount of damage. I feel like the driver just took my trailer for a SPIN purposely. THen when you call upack expect for them to tell you their insurance only cover like 20 cents per pound , it's a JOKE!!!!! next time I will go back to using packrat, I should have stayed with them instead of trusting this upack company, now I have over 1500 $ in damages that NOONE will pay me for, and a dining table that is 100% disabled. read more

We have moved 8 times cross-country and this time we chose ABF U-Pack to move 12,000 lbs of household goods from Portland, OR to San Antonio area last August based on their super price. They were easily several thousand dollars under the big names. We hired a three man crew of local movers to load the trailer in OR and a local crew to unload the trailer when it was delivered to our home in the San Antonio area, using Yelp to choose the crews. ABF did everything they said they would and were great communicators. The only caution I would share with those approaching a long distance move it to make sure you use new boxes and buy lots of padding blankets. The trailers are standard freight trailers without any "soft ride" equipment like we have seen when we used the big names. Our older, third/fourth use boxes collapsed even though we thought we packed them tightly. Not much damage, thank goodness, but make sure you don't overlook the quality of your packing materials! read more

Would never recommend ABF Freight to anyone. We were told we would receive our truck in Austin, TX within 3-5 business days. For 3 days online it said it was in El Paso. I called Customer Service and was told they had 2 more days to reach Austin and they would call when it arrived. 2 days later I call again and am told it is still in El Paso. She does some research and claims they thought El Paso was the destination. If that were the case why didn't they call us when it arrived in El Paso five days ago?? The manager tells me they will "rush it to Austin." The next day I call and am told it is leaving Dallas. Now, Dallas is way out of the way from Austin, so who knows what really happened, we suspect someone took our truck by accident. When my husband called today to find out the status, the female representative was extremely rude and unprofessional, kept talking over him and would not give him any information, just that he will have to wait for when the truck arrives. Extremely unprofessional company with terrible customer service. read more
