DO NOT COME HERE! Terrible experience. When I arrived, the original truck they gave me was out of gas, so they had to switch me to another one. The employee mentioned that someone had been siphoning gas from their trucks, which was already concerning. Then I got into the second truck and the gas level was still below empty. I alerted the employee, and she told me that all of the trucks were like that. Since I was only driving a short distance, she said I'd be fine. I was not fine. The truck literally STOPPED MOVING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. I have never been more disappointed in an establishment. There is absolutely no acceptable reason to send customers out in trucks with no gas and leave them stranded. To make things even weirder, a random employee even gave me his personal card for his own moving truck business. Avoid this place at all costs. read more

Avoid this location they close the parking lots and will block your car in over night. Never have I experienced such disregard for personal property and such poor customer service to basically call me a liar with out being present to know what information I was told is unacceptable. When i contacted Sheila Hubbs to ask why she never felt we deserved the decency of a follow up instead of the sly game she was playing to cover her own mistakes. Sheila Hubbs was rude, unprofessional, and untruthful during our call. Sheila Hubbs proceeded to gaslight me her own version of event where there was no way weren't told of the "lock down". Sheila Hubbs also said she wouldn't be refunding anything further and that I was lucky she even gave a $50 credit. What adds even more insult to injury I've been contacting the office of Douglas Rumfeild area manager of Long Beach U-Haul who after weeks of calling still cannot return a call. Terrible experience between every employee and the manager. They wanted me to make a reservation, reservation was made and approved online. Their system bumped someone out of their reservation as I put my card on file and was at the location ready to pick up. Rather than honor my reservation, they transferred my reservation 20 minutes away. Subsequently I was blamed by the employee and manager for "not following directions and booking a reservation via the phone number." A reservation is a reservation, regardless of HOW it was placed. Your system bumping someone who hasn't confirmed and placed their card on file is NOT my problem. I would highly advise the owner to replace the management and staff, the location is ran down and throwing money out of the window by telling customers to go elsewhere who have a reservation, a card on file and are standing in front of them ready to go. read more

Wish I could put zero stars for everything from The location to the management Rented a truck for an expensive OfferUp pickup drove it all the way to LA only to realize they rented us a locked truck with no key. The rental ended up being a 200 rental we cut the lock. Cost about 40 bucks. They were barely willing to offer us a 60 refund on 200 saying we should have waited for customer service. To come cut the lock. When we called customer service they told us the likelihood of us even getting someone to come out at that hour was slim to none also The person we were picking up the item from was not going to wait for that. How are you going to charge for YOUR MISTAKE. Then throw it back on me like it's my fault and my problem. Will be taking it as high up as I can thru U-Haul this seems to be a common problem with management at this location. Saying we got in and we will be paying for mileage when we had to drive extra to find a Home Depot to get in the truck almost lost the item we rented the truck for. And had we cancelled and come back it sounds like would have got stuck paying for something regardless. And their shitty ass manager keeps doing stuff like this because she know she can get away with it. There regional office doesn't hold them accountable for anything. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I should have learned after my first experience with Uhaul, where they left me stranded in another state without a truck - despite the reservation and money they held me... but no, I decided once again to attempt to try Uhaul and boy was I a dummy for it. First, reservation made - receive a text that it's been confirmed. Then day before I am picking up the truck, I receive another text from Uhaul saying they overbooked and to call them. On the phone, they tell me they have another truck just 5mins away... ok. Welp, was not 5mins. It wound up being 36mins extra in each direction. This added an additional hour to my drive that I wasn't expecting. I had hired movers, who sadly were sitting and waiting for me. You think this was the worst of it? Sadly not. I get to the location to get the truck, only to have to wait nearly ~1hr to get the truck because they only have 1 guy working taking their time. They've got nothing better to do, so why bother helping their paying customers quicker during stressful times. Then, I go through pickup - they said I had a full tank of gas - but it did not. I marked where the gas actually was in their app. Finally get to my move, but with all the time inconvenience - I'm now 2hrs behind. Now to the drop off (which is this location)... it was like a ride at Disneyland... looooooooong and boring. Wish there was a Genie pass for Uhaul... which I thought self pickup/drop-off was, but no, they still make you wait for someone to pickup and drop off. Finally drop off the truck and was told they would email me a receipt. I was so done with everything, I was planning to just let it go... but then they send me the receipt. Not only did they charge me for extra mileage (because they still had me listed for the original pickup spot), they charged me for a full tank of gas haha. I seriously can't make this stuff up. All in all, $185 extra for the moving time + $25 in extra fees Uhaul charged me. I'm now out $210 extra, because of Uhaul. So I called their customer service and sadly, this is where things got even worse. Their customer service team tried gaslighting me, telling me I was to blame for the change in reservation, attempted to argue that the truck was at a full tank (thank goodness I was smart enough to take pictures), then told me someone would call. 15days later, no call back. Instead, I get an email that they were crediting me the $25 in mileage haha. Silly, silly fools... but shame on me right? I'm the dummy that tried to give them a second chance. I hope if you're reading this you take my advice and stay far, far, faaaaaaaar away from ANY Uhaul. Wish I could say it's location dependent, but they did this to me in Colorado too - so it's just the company culture to screw people and not care. Never, ever again will I trust Uhaul. Budget is the way to go, they saved me in Colorado, I should have trusted them again in my move... but I hope you readers seeing this do. read more

We really enjoyed the service we received at this location when renting a van for a few hours. The staff was courteous despite it being busy with the phone constantly ringing at 830am. What we did not like were these so called "movers" loitering in the front offering their moving services. We hired them for a quick 5 min job to help move a queen mattress and 3 boxes from our garage and agreed on a price. I made sure to confirm the price in English' and Spanish. Come to find out, once inside our home, they pulled a bait and switch and asked for twice as much money, refusing to leave! This is to no fault of the U-Haul staff, but if someone from management is reading this, know that these guys(business and photo attached) are scammers who prey on your customers. I said no I'm actually here to get some boxes for some prints And he looked at me and says "I don't know what you're talking about" I said boxes to pack prints, pictures I pointed at the wall and he says "we don't have anything like that here" in a bother some tone. I said I saw online That there were some in stock here and he said "oh, well that was online". so I turned around and walked out and said that this was a total waste of my time, I would never ever suggest this location to anybody. Literally if I could put zero stars I would avoid this location at all costs, because they aren't legit or professional. I rented a truck and the one that they gave to me had no gas in it at all and was empty. When I asked the worker about it all he said was "go to the gas station across the street." On the way there the truck ran out of gas leaving me on the side of the road. When I called this location all they said was to "take it up with u-haul roadside assistance" in which they then tried to charge me $300 to get it towed back to the location I rented from??!! Very inconvenient and a waste of time. Why would I have to pay for the towing when it's not my fault? Eventually I got picked up in a separate car to go back and request a refund. When asked about it they were very defensive and started arguing with us saying that "He told me to go to the gas station." This was one of my worst experiences at a uhual location ever. 1. The phone representative booked for a uhual reservation at a Location that is closed on Sunday (the day I needed the rental) I only found out because a U-Haul rep at that location called me and told me that I cannot get my rental since they were closed and advise me to call the other location on Pacific Coast Highway. 2. We got our rental truck 1.5 hours later than our reserved time because at the time of booking, the rep from the store did not tell us that we were doing a mobile pick up so we had no idea of how to get our rental. 3. The rep who was at the store was of no help. He simoly told us to use our phones and didn't help. 4. We called 24 hour customer service and she was of more help than the rep who physically at the location with us. She was able to help us get our uhual. 5. The U-Haul was dirty the right tire was low and it was trash in the U-Haul. I am overall just please with the service and it completely push my move in time back. Never again. read more

Came here on a Sunday around 12:30pm for my reservation. Was first off annoyed with the lack of parking for customers. You are only allowed to park DIRECTLY in front of the store. Anywhere else, an employee will come running at you frantically and tell you to move your car. If there aren't any spots, you have to park in the neighborhood. They need to make a sign when you enter the uhaul lot about this. There's no point in having these signs in front of the main door or cash register because we'd already have been parked?? Secondly, the wait was INSANE. There were only 2 staff members working and one of them seemed very inexperienced and was with a customer for 20 minutes... The line quickly grew to nearly 10 customers waiting to be served, with just 2 staff associates. Completely understaffed. I spent over 30 minutes just waiting in line. This isn't 1 star because at least the staff is friendly and apologized for the wait. Would not recommend coming here. If you have to, come EARLY to avoid crowds. read more

I was helping my friend moved, so we went to u-haul to get a truck. Shaun was extremely helpful, professional, charming . I have rented trucks in the past, mostly at this location and never ever knew about all the wonderful things they offered for purchase (to be honest tho, in conversation with previous employees, I have told them I was renting the trucks for work, so there wasn't a need for other items, and time is always important when I am working, so appreciate that they got me in and out). False advertising!!! Quite misleading in any case. I needed a truck for under 2 hours to move some items from storage to my house. Ad and side of truck (in big letters) says 19.95. I went ahead & purchased the minimal, $15 insurance. Ok, so that's $35. I get there and he charges me $57.52. Lots of "extra" fees. Then when I went to fill it up after driving a total of 12 miles, it took close to 8 gal. I guarantee I didn't use 8 gallons which means the truck wasn't really full when I took it out. Grand total for my 19.95 truck I used for 90 minutes? $90.42. They get one star because the truck worked. read more

I came to this location for a propane refill, I always have even though it's 15 minutes away because I've never had an issue before today. At approx. 3pm I pulled in and pressed the service button next to the propane refill area. After waiting 5 minutes in the 90 degree heat, I pressed again. After another two minutes I went inside. As I entered there were three people working there, joking and laughing with each other over something on their phones. I stood there in front of them and was not greeted or acknowledged. I asked for help with propane, they didn't even quiet down. A woman at the desk told me she would be right with me and to wait outside. After another 10 minutes outside (it's been almost 25 minutes now that I've been there), I go in again to see what is going on. Again, all three employees are chatting and joking around, when I speak they seem almost annoyed at my presence. I politely asked when someone would help me, to which they replied "Our system has been down and we cannot do anything,". I asked how long it had been down and when someone could help me, they said "if you don't have patience there is an Arco down the street, our system has been down for awhile so there's nothing we can do". I understand that systems go down, and I understand that working is no fun and somewhat hard sometimes. I don't know how their day was going or what their story was, but to leave me outside in the heat while I waited and all they were doing was joking around and rubbing their phones! That is ridiculous, someone could have at least come outside to tell me that the pump wasn't working. I hope they learn something about customer service someday, or find a different line of work that better suits their skill sets. read more

I reserved 15" moving van. I went and showed my DL the Hispanic lady that helped me checked my ID and said it doesn't look like you cus I've shaved my beard/mustache and gained weight. She said, we can't it rent out. Then she had her Manager Shaila Hubbs look at it and said the same thing. I told them you guys are ridiculous, ppl face changes over 20 years. I asked just because some will use fake ID they assume other ppl will also. She said, yes. I have rented before in Oct 2021 in 14206 Van Ness Ave in Gardena with the same ID and bank card. No problem. I told them. It's in their system but they never bothered to look at the history. So my wife and I went to the one in Cherry and Carson St. The 2 guys was great they had no problem with. They took a facial picture of me and my ID. We are able to rent one and returned it within 1hr. Don't go this PCH location go somewhere else with better understanding and services. If you have an ID that you been renewing online for many years and they been using the same picture. This location doesn't want your business or your money. They make a big deal over ID picture thinking you're fraud using fake ID. I'm not one of those idiots that would do that and go to Uhaul rental. read more

Thanksgiving 2019. Left our car at the Uhaul on PCH and came back to drop our rental off and everything was looked through. The locks messed with, carseat taken off but not taken and trunk looked dugged into as well. Not sure what was taken atm. Also, the Uhaul place looks sketchy. If I can give them a zero for service I would. I reserved a truck under my husbands name and when he went to pick it up and gave them his ID the lady said that it didn't look like him and that he needs a new ID. My husband just renewed his DL and told them well DMV didn't asked him for a new photo. The only difference was my husband shaved his head and beard and of course he's a little older. I was wondering why it was taking so long and he came out saying they wouldn't let him rent it because of his ID. He also told them this is not the first he has rented and used the same DL that if they look I. The system it's there, but the manager didn't even bother to check it. I told them to cancel it. As my my husband was walking out one of the guys said sarcastically oh didn't I see you at the paramount location. My husband was like what. And the guys like oh you look like him and laughed. My husband was offended. Why do Asians look all the same. Mind you my husband don't look Asian but looks more Hispanic. He was a little offended and was pissed when he walked to the car & so was I. We ended up going to a different Uhaul in Long Beach on Cota Ave. We told the guy what happened at the other location and they checked my husbands DL and he was like yeah it's you and I don't know why they said it doesn't look like you. If they checked his DL he has a big scar on his forehead which the guy saw and it shows on his DL. The guy who helped us also checked the system without us even asking him and said oh you guys have rented a few times before and it's in the system so I'm not sure why they didn't check. After being called by U-Haul to retrieve the trailer ( I rented on line to save time) I had to drive several miles away at a different location. I returned to this location (because the other location didn't carry products. I am now still standing in line after 40 mins of waiting only to buy boxes and other products. 2 out of 3 workers are busy with customers renting vehicles (or applying for a house loan)... When asked if they could help the next 3 customers in line because we only want to buy products, not one worker looked up and continued to ignore us as if we weren't here nor asked a question. I have had the worst experience with U-Haul. I made a reservation # 28452818 with a pick up date of 9/19/2020 and time 0930 from the Torrance Ca (Western & Carson St). When I arrived the line was wrapped around the store, there was only one cashier and another person who was moving the trucks and filling up propane tanks as people where pulling up. It took a bit over an hour for us to be seen. Ridiculous that the employees need to work under pressure and cannot get more help. On moving day many people are on a time schedule and these type of delays are a huge inconvenience. At approximately 10:45am we were in the U-Haul truck and had to now head over to the Long Beach Ca (Walnut & PCH) to pick up the motorcycle trailer since the Torrance location did not have the trailer. We arrived at the Long Beach location at 11:05 where we saw the cashier immediately we then proceeded to the truck where the outside assistant assisted in hooking up the trailer to the truck. This gentleman was very unprofessional and cussed out a gentleman in the car pulling out of the lot because this person could have went the other way, I was shocked to hear the words coming out of his mouth I have never been around and an person while working speak the way he did. With the previous experience I had I did not want to rent from U-Haul again but I had to because we could not fit everything in one truck and had to haul another motorcycle. So I went ahead and made a second reservation # 80248133 with a pick up date of 9/27/2020 pick up location (Lynwood Ca). The day before the pick up 9/26/2020 I received a call from U-Haul informing me that they do have the truck available but not the motorcycle trailer within a 100 miles. I explained to the agent on the phone that I need the truck to attach the motorcycle trailer too so I would need to reschedule. This was a big inconvenience for my husband since he did take the day off of work to get this move done. I proceed with the rescheduling with a pick up date of 9/29/2020 pick up location (Lynwood Ca). I received a call once again the day before informing me that the Truck & Trailer are not available. At this point this was expected. U-Haul put us in a bad position with only one more day to move and we have no truck or trailer. THANKS U-Haul! NEVER will I use U-Haul again this company is so organized. read more

I rented a 6 x 12 enclosed trailer 4 times in the last month and the customer service was awesome. Each time I went to rent a trailer I would get a different person that would help me and they were all great. Chad helped me the last time. Thanks for making my experience pleasant. This U-Haul May have a small lot and lack of parking, but the manager of the store as well as Shaila working at the front were so accommodating to me. I had trouble finding a place to get hitch wiring done to connect my lights and they called every location to try and get me an appointment as well as offered to come in an hour before they open at 6 am the next day to help me. The lot is small and they're usually short staffed, but the staff they do have are there to help. read more
