My truck broke down in I80 East and the AAA tower used to work for Tyrrell-Doyle Chevrolet in Laramie. He said the techs here are top notch and they staff will work with you so I had it towed here.
6/14
In the AM I pulled it around to service and I asked the lady in service at the counter (Jeanne Johnson), since my car was in line of 4 cars to go in the service center if I should leave the car where it is or move it. She said it was fine leave it there. Gary Wilson, shuttle driver, comes out and starts stomping around the shop floor asking "IS that YOUR truck?" to everyone, I say it's mine. He just goes "ARE YOU GOING TO MOVE IT?" I replied "EXCUSE ME, your service advisor said to leave it where it is". He goes "Well you are blocking everything" I turned to him and said, "Listen BUDDY, your business told me to leave it where it is, you have a problem take it up with your service department." Service techs saw the issue and came out to move the car, hence the issue of it having to sit there, it needed service to run properly I couldn't move it but Gary didn't care... He came at me like he wanted to fight, it was ridiculous...
Matt Curless read code and Jeanne and Matt decided it was a fuel pump going out off and on due to codes and symptoms. As I'm doing that a salesperson came up and asked leading questions, doing his job, we went to look at a few cars but he didn't know anything about the car, he goggled all the specs, sometimes for the wrong year, wrong car. I asked about a few features and he said "yeah of course, I'm sure it will" and really couldn't be sure of the specs so I passed on it. It was nice he took the time to really take me out to the exact truck on the lot I had just briefly looked at in passing.
I decided to do the repair; I was quoted 1000 dollars, which is on the high side even for a fuel pump. I say ok, let's do the repair. I ask Matt the timeframe "Well due to parts and the work schedule, I'm down 2 techs for 2 weeks straight, it looks like 3-4 days" I got really apprehensive but I said ok. I got a motel, and just buckled down for the 3-4 days. They said they would search for part alternatives, universal fuel pumps, or in line pumps to wire in, and let me know my options and I said ok just call me.
6/18 DAY FOUR
At 2pm I brought a part, a sensor because I believed the diagnosis was incorrect, to click in and replace the one bad sensor. Matt took the part back in the shop and I asked him if he needed anything else. I also asked if he had my number and he said he did, I just said call me when it's all good or if he needs anything and he said "alright" 3 and a half hours passed and the shop closed, no call.
6/19 DAY FIVE
I stopped over and they told me the truck was done and running just fine with the new sensor. I paid a small bill but the cost of staying at the motel far outweighed the repair cost. I opened my engine bay to look at the repair and the mechanic had literally slathered oil all over my intake, the sides of the engine bay, in the form of hand prints. I keep in crystal clean so I wished they had at the least wiped it down and had respect for that. I was pretty mad
They tried to sell me on a new truck while I was there and I guess that is their business but 5 days for one sensor is a bit excessive. There were a lot of missed steps, poor customer service from 2/4 employees I spoke with, and basically a sloppy mess for me to clean up in my engine bay. I didn't think they really wanted to help me as a customer because they had plenty of service business from contracts. Their sales team were far more helpful but I kept hearing shouts from across the service department "did you get your sale on the truck?!" between sales colleagues when they showed me other options. The salesman who helped me was humble but a female colleague was a bit over the top yelling that in front of me.
The confrontation from the shuttle driver is the main reason I'm giving 2 stars and not 4, you NEVER scream at customers. I don't care what business you are in.
The only Pro here is the selection, liked a lot on the lot and the salesmen are generally good people read more
