Love this store for all its kitsch
Maureen C.

This is just one of those adorable stores with all sorts of random quotes, notebooks, pens, backpacks, mugs that make for perfect little gifts. I was trying to think of what I could buy my niece on her birthday in July and I wandered over to this store. I swear I could have stared at every little thing for an hour or 2 just because...and I did until I realized that I had to get going because my friend was coming. After telling her about the store, we went back and did more perusing and buying of items. I decided on buying some notebooks that have encouraging themes, pugs, and almost bought a darth vader mug but decided against it last minute as my arms were filling up with unnecessary items already.

First of all, I want to thank all the staff working during this difficult time, they're working so hard to keep us safe, also they're super friendly, all the staff that I came across in this location had gave me a friendly, happy vibe, which is one of the reasons why I love browsing in this store! Besides friendly staff, I also like almost everything they have in there! I've been browsing in all sort of stationery stores since I was five, from Hong Kong to the US, I'm obsessed with them! And I can say, Typo has really show stationery in an American way, which by the way, if you're looking for souvenir or gift to bring to friends/family from another country, Typo is on the list.

New place opened up in Brea Mall!! Amazingly hypster and cute. I'm mostly excited for the cute hiking "quotes" on bags, notebooks, post-it and magnets. Ultimately, everything here is a little pricey. Notebooks are about $14 or so, but I was extremely ecstatic for the sales they were having. The agendas from 2016 to 2017 are only $3 and coloring books are $5. Plus, mugs are $5 per purchase. They are really adorable. I paid extra money because they had mints for $3 and $$1 tissues for a donation to school kids in Uganda. I like aesthetics and cute, quirky items. Very cool. Will come back.

Why do they close so early? They close an hour before the malls does. The hours are very inconvenient.

I went here with Debra R and Jose R. We bought cards, a journal and a bag. The store was good and the customer service was good too.

I thought it would be special to paint together and it was! We visited on a weekday around 8pm. The girls at the counter greeted us, explained how everything worked and were so sweet and kind. We picked a vase, our colors and painted together. I received a call 3 days later that it was ready for pick-up! It was perfect!!!!! Something we will cherish for years to come! I will definitely return for a girls night or just a night out of the house. Super clean, friendly staff, easy parking in the connecting lot. You can also bring in any of your own food and drink! Wow! So happy I found this gem!

All the employees are helpful and kind. They check in a right amount, and do a great job not making you feel rushed. 10/10 environment. Their pieces change through the year, so it's nice to come back and find seasonal things to paint. They close at 9:00pm, but we've found ourselves here for a few hours, so plan accordingly! The only downsides I've found are after the firing process is done. Some of our old pieces from when we first came a few years ago have crazing, which makes the pottery unsafe for food or drink. If your piece is for decoration, it should be fine. I haven't noticed it on newer pieces, so they may have adjusted the way their fire them. The second thing is that all my pieces, new and old, have pin marks from being supported in the kiln. It prevents a smooth surface, but also, I've noticed it's an entry way for moisture, which makes it unsafe for food and drink. One of my pieces held onto moisture after washing it because of the pin holes. All this to say, it doesn't deter us from visiting. We still love coming to Kitsch and will continue to visit. Its a great place to catch up, go on a date, or just hang out.

The instructor goes over everything on screen so you can watch before you move forward with each step. I always think its going to be hard but honestly its just so fun and who cares if your cookies turn out perfect or not. Mine never do but I am always impressed with how well I actually do. Classes are $50 per person and are worth the memories you make. Plus the cookies are SO good!

Grunderfully Delicious is always a ton of fun…read more My wife had been turned on to this place by a friend of hers and always came home with adorably decorated cookies. I had joined her awhile back and despite having difficulties of my own, I had fun and the cookies are delicious. After the first experience I have returned on numerous other occasions and do feel I have progressed a bit with my decorating skills but all in all its about the fun. The cookies are always well themed and we enjoy eating these for several days afterward. It really doesn't matter what the end product looks like as long as you have fun creating your masterpiece. As Frank on Everybody Loves Raymond would say, the stomach knows not ugly and these are delicious no matter the result. I will definitely return again soon for more of these classes and highly recommend checking them out for something different, fun and challenging

More Than Just A Frame…read more Went to Hobby Lobby looking for a picture frame for a short poem that means a great deal to me. I quickly became puzzled over the frame color, size, and whether to use a mat or not. Thankfully, Kim came to the rescue. She was patient, thoughtful, and walked through several options with me without ever making me feel rushed. With her wonderful eye and expertise, we found a frame that fit perfectly, and adding the mat made the poem look so dimensional and lovely. It truly brought the piece to life. I also didn't realize they do custom framing, and that really fills a gap left when our local art store was lost during Covid. It is comforting to know there is still a place where people genuinely care about helping you create something meaningful and beautiful. Thank you, Kim, for making what felt overwhelming into such a warm and lovely experience.

It's a pretty big and spacious Hobby Lobby…read more I don't usually go to Hobby Lobby as it's more convenient for me to locate a Michael's closer to me, but it's always nice to stop by when I get the chance too since there's always a mish mash of neat things that they have, either for cosplay, gifts for others, arts and crafts, etc. We're still 10+ days until Valentine's Day, but they were already clearing a good chunk of that out and all of the Easter stuff has been moved in. It's the same as any other arts and crafts store, you gotta be at LEAST 2 months early to get the best pick of the batch. Though on the other hand, you can get the super clearance items later on in the holiday season. I liked that there's lots of cute prints for their fabrics and different textures, seeing that most Walmarts don't have this anymore and Joann's is completely decimated. I think my main issues are all of the AI SLOP art that's being sold to those who cannot tell the difference and the fact that there was shoplifting randomly during our visit. Sucks, but yeah, it's mostly the AI slop that sickens me. I couldn't find anything that I needed during my visit, but my friend got some cupcake liners since the ones she ordered online were mini even though the website said nothing about the sizing, so she assumed they were regular sized. They, of course, had no Valentine's Day ones leftover, so she found cute bow ones. For on sale and clearance items, it works!
