Txula Steak is terrific. A stellar and upscale effort by Jose Andres. The food, service and ambiance are all excellent. Reminds me of meals I've had in Madrid.

Dinner with friends for special occasion...Txula Steak recently opened and located inside Hudson Yards in Little Spain. Reservations highly recommended. Nice ambiance and ooh look at Acorn fed pork ham in the center of the room.... Cocktails: They have list of wine and specialty cocktails to choose from. I landed on the 2021 Muga Rioja Vino, which was good. The group also ordered a bottle of Marques de Murrieta -- too woody/smokey flavor for me. Complimentary bread with olive oil. Plenty to choose from the menu. Starters: Acorn fed pork ham - this was good to share, thinly sliced. Watch them carve in the middle of the room... Pluma Iberica - Grilled pork loin cap - this was ok for me piquello peppers - was ok for me Main: Txuleton - Angus Beef - OMG! Delicious.. did not need any additional sauce. Highly recommend - $140 . We ordered a Txuleburger ($35) to share between the 4 of to try... oh yes it was worth it. Sides: side mash potatoes - very small! Not worth it.... Mushrooms - was ok.. needs more flavor Desserts: Dessert: Pantxineta - puff pastry with pastry cream and almonds - was ok chocolate cake - hazelnut & chocolate tart w/ vanilla ice cream... reminds me of ferrero rocher... We didn't feel rushed at all and the servers were attentive. Restrooms are outside in Little Spain. Definitely would come back again for the Txuleton, Txuleburger and try some other items on the menu.

Came for lunch on a weekend to beat the dinner crowd and the restaurant felt spacious when it first opened for the day. We had the server's undivided attention and it was great! My party of eight ordered pretty much one of everything on the menu, and had a wonderful time throughout the meal. My favorite item was actually their namesake txuleton steak, which was the best large format steak I have ever had. All the appetizers were delicious as well. The only small critique was that the large format lamb dish tasted a bit underseasoned and the gamey taste of the lamb came through because of it. This was fixed with some salt added! For dessert, they have an amazing basque cheesecake whick they add even more cheese too to serve! The restaurant is located inside the little spain mercade, which gives it an almost speakeasy type feel tucked away in the corner. Definitely worth checking out!

Listen, complimentary cuvée make all your troubles go away! They offered a glass for the kitchen being out of a few items but luckily they had everything we wanted. That crisp glass of dry & nutty sparkling wine plus a giant glass of Ultimate G&T had me making bedroom eyes at all the dishes being brought out. In the center of the dining room is the star, a beautiful leg of jamon iberico. There are different types of jamon iberico and here they serve what's considered the pinnacle of cured ham--de bellota. The pigs are fed a diet of acorns, or "bellotas" which are rich in oleic acid which gives the meat a buttery complex and obviously incredibly delicious flavor. There truly is nothing like it. Our server notified us that their fresh bread would be ready to be passed around soon and she made us a shallow plate of oil, salt & pepper and we waited eagerly for the bread basket to appear--when it finally did it was well worth the wait. As a matter of fact, we wish we had saved a slice or 2 of jamon to pair it with. We also had the foie donosti--grilled foie gras from the Hudson Valley, fantasticccc. Entrees came out and we chose light--a txuleburger--a charcoal grilled 60-days aged black Angus ribeye burger, Txula sauce, American cheese, & pickled piparra peppers--split for 2 and the cabecero pork collar. Simple, with simple sides--fries and piquillo peppers. Now, for dessert...you have to have the basque cheesecake. It's the cutest presentation and when it's served it's drizzled with Austrian honey, olive oil, and freshly grated cheese. You get to choose one of the 3 cheeses and the truffle manchego sent me to the moon. We rounded it all out with the hazelnut and chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream and an espresso. I would very much love to come back. Next I need to try the ribeye and the Martina Hayworth martini...¡Que vida!

Great service and nice ambiance. My fav dish was the croquetas topped with jamón. We thought we would celebrate by splurging on the Spanish Lamb. For $150 and serving 2-3 people we thought it would be a lot... this poor lamb must have been starved in its life. There was very little meat on the bones, and it was mainly all bones. We were gnawing on each pieces trying to get some meat, or at least sucking out some of the flavor. Needless to say that I wouldn't recommend that. But the tenderloin and everything else we ordered was excellent.

The place location is awesome. Lots of things to see in the Little Spain Mall. The appetizers were average. The octopus was salty. Chorizo which was warmed was delicious. The entrees were fine. Pork was fatty. Steak was small compared to price. Rice and ink calamari was salty and bland. The service was excellent. The enclosed area of the restaurant was decorated very nicely.

Saw a video review for this place, and immediately made a reservation; before it became impossible. We showed up a few minutes before 6pm, and were told that the kitchen was having a problem and they'll let us know about dinner. We felt a little uneasy, but there are other options in The Mercado Spain space. More like a high end food court, than a restaurant, with plenty of options. The Maitre de signaled to us, and they sat us in a great corner table complete with pillows. The server brought the menus, and told us what they were out of. Fortunately, all the dishes we wanted were available. Jamon Iberico de Bellota was incredible. First time I've had something like that and this should not be passed by. Fois Gras; 10 out of 10. Fresh sourdough bread was warm, light and perfect. I wanted another piece, but by the time I saw the bread come around our mains came out. Cabacero Pork tasted almost exactly like steak. Txuleburger was really good, with a flavorful cheese. Although I would have liked it on the medium rare side, with a schmear of ketchup. Fries were warm and crisp and the Piquillo Peppers were just ok. More like sun-dried tomatoes. The chocolate cake was decadent, but if you could only choose one, get the Basque Cheesecake that they do table-side. With honey, olive oil and a choice of cheese on top. A great meal worth the price

We had a really great meal here. The ham and cheese croquetas were delicious and we loved the sobrasada which came with a tableside presentation. The burger was really good, though I do wish it came with a side of fries for the price.

    Jamon croquettes. Very rich

I went with my company for a company dinner and it was really nice. Great service and ambiance. Our reservation got pushed because of the number of people we had and they were very apologetic and gave us some complimentary apps and champagne which was very nice of them. I think the price is a little steep but the portions are great.

We tried a variety of dishes and each one was a hit (from the croquettes to the octopus to the paella). One member of our group doesn't usually like seafood and thought the octopus was delicious! The drinks (both alcoholic and non alcoholic) were also yummy. The staff were super accommodating as well which I really appreciated!! Of note, the restaurant bar stays open longer than the kitchen so make sure you check in with them on when the kitchen closes (it was around 10 when we went but things were still in flux so that may change!)

I was at this location of this Basque and Spanish restaurant a while ago with a group, with their…read moreoriginal location being in Harlem. The table we sat at was quite large, and I think it could have fit a few more people. The staff was friendly, and the lighting wasn't too dark, nor was it too loud. While I liked the atmosphere, I found the food, or rather specifically the tapas, to be not good at best, while the main dishes were better but also ranged in quality. The fact that the tapas we ordered were pretty closely priced to the mains means I would recommend the mains only based on portion and taste alone. To drink, a bunch of us split a bottle of wine from their large and pretty reasonably priced selection. The first tapas that arrived was something that I could not eat. This was the Pulpo Zarautz for $32, listed as octopus with garlic and merken seasoning served over mashed baby potatoes. The dish was small, and people thought it was OK as they found the pieces of octopus a tad chewy. They liked the spices but were surprised that the potatoes were a bit cool. The $24 Gambas Al Ajillo, with slow-cooked prawns, white wine, EVOO, garlic, and mermen, was alright. There was a handful of shrimp, and they were decently cooked, but the "ajillo," or rather, the garlic, was very light. Therefore, I found it a bit bland, which is almost never the case for this dish. I wouldn't recommend this based on price and flavor. Last and least of the tapas was the $22 Tortilla De Patatas, listed simply as a Spanish omelette. There was an option to add chorizo for $2 more, which we did. Along with the omelette, this also arrived with a few sauces and some pieces of crunchy bread, which were the highlight, as the omelette wasn't good either. The texture of the omelette was very different than any other Spanish omelette I've ever had. It was quite soft with a bit of chew, with a mild chorizo flavor. Along with the greenish color, it wasn't exactly appetizing. I wouldn't recommend this at all, but thankfully, that was the last tapas we ordered. My favorite of the main dishes was the Solomillo & Pebre for $28, listed as skirt steak topped with parsley and olive oil, with hand-cut fried potato and salad. While not the most tender, as it is a skirt steak, it was still well-flavored with the topping almost reminding me, to an extent, of a less oily version of chimichurri. The potatoes had a unique texture, being slightly crispy on the outside while remaining slightly soft in the middle. The salad on the side, which also arrived with one of our other mains, was a tasty mix and certainly more effort than a typical salad you find in many of these places. We also liked the $32 Costillas De Cerdito, with pork ribs in beer, mustard, and rosemary with hand-cut fried potato and salad. The pork ribs were flavorful, though I did find a bit of it to be a bit fatty, but some of that is expected with pork ribs. The mildly sweet and slightly rich sauce paired with the pork ribs. The same comments from before can be made about the potatoes and salad. Last was the OK Paella De Mariscos for $38, listed as rice cooked with shrimp, mussels, clams, prawns, and fresh saffron. The portion size was good, with a lot of mussels and clams in particular, and a handful of shrimp. Of the bite I had of the two large prawns, they were plump and juicy as well. However, the rice was both a bit bland and a tad mushy and felt a bit overcooked compared to many other paellas. There was some socarrat on the bottom as per usual, which was the best part. It's a bit difficult to rate this place. The spices, textures, and flavors were lacking from the overpriced tapas, and I honestly wouldn't recommend any of them. For the main dishes, they were tasty, but you can get a better-cooked skirt steak at many other places for a similar price. The ribs were decent, and the paella was just OK. If we only had the tapas, I probably would be giving this place a 1, but for the whole meal, an upper 2, rounded up.

The restrooms were allocated in the joining hotel so it's a bit of a walk. We were not too hungry just looking for a quick snack so we settled on Brussels, top sirloin and calamari to share. The Brussel sprouts were crispy with a tangy dressing topped with dried cranberries and raisins. This dish had a nice balance. There were two-three fairly larger hunkers which we had to cut up but otherwise flavor was nice. Next came the top sirloin cooked to medium with a bed of roasted carrot purée and a salsa sauce. The sirloin was seasoned nicely and cooked to perfection- very tender! By far my favorite dish! The calamari was a bit of a disappointment. It was fried too crispy and lost the calamari taste.
