The gyro shawarma wrap was DEFINITELY the best I've had in Austin, hands down. Since I tried this heavenly gyro, I am (ridiculously) craving it daily. It is seasoned perfectly; and all of the meat is perfectly crispy on the outside. I rarely review anything, but I am shocked that they don't have more reviews on Yelp. The ratio of meat to veggies is just right, and they don't scrimp on the meat as some places do... I hate a kebab or gyro that is basically pita drenched in sauce, but this is not the case at TX Shawarma- they do it right! We order from TX Shawarma at least twice a week. We love love love the mixed plate shawarma and fries. I have recommended this place to at least 50 people by now lol. I also like their Falafel. One constructive criticism for them would be that sometimes the quantity of food can vary. This can be fixed. When you get this food pretty regularly, it can throw you off a bit. This place is just the best! We fell upon it through yelp and it's hands down the best middle eastern food I have ever had. The fries with the sauce are just heaven and every type of meat is flavoured well. We had the chicken, beef and gyro. The falafels are also perfectly crisp and seasoned and great pita and hummus and dolmas. Honestly what's not to like? This place without a doubt makes the best gyro's out there. I stopped by after the gym and (due to my hangryness) started eating my gyro and I couldn't stop because of how delicious it was. I only tried their shawarma, and can't speak for the rest of their offerings, but since the friendly guy who mans this operation recommended the Lamb & Chicken shawarma as their best, or one of their best, dishes, I can base my review on this serving alone. The bottom line is this: it's ok, but nothing special at all. Coming from Brooklyn, this level of shawarma can be found in any pedestrian shawarma stand, and that ~obviously~ pales in comparison to any street shawarma stand in the Middle East. TX Shawarma is nothing special, and nothing memorable. As a consumer, I doubt I would return. There are a scant few shawarmas that I've had over the years that really stand out, and Tx Shawarma isn't one of them, by a long shot. I can't say it's bad, but it's certainly not great in any way. In short, if you've never had the real deal, you might think that Tx Shawarma is good ~ as an "exotic" food you haven't tried before. But if you know shawarma, especially if you had really good shawarma in the Middle East, you know that this is establishment is pretty mediocre. The food isn't horrible, it's just ok. read more

The guy gave us a generous amount of rice and chicken, which is surprising because most food trucks I know fuck you over with the sides..... anyways- The chicken was juicy and seasoned well, the rice was perfectly cooked. There is a proliferation of Mediterranean food trucks in this area, within a few blocks of each other. We've tried them all and this one's our favorite. We have only gotten the Shawarma wraps/gyros - chicken and lamb - and for the $6 trailer price (more expensive if you call your order in ahead of time) they are delicious. The falafel order is pricey, since they're tiny and only 6 of them for $5 (I think - typing from memory here) and we know how cheap they are to make. Don't hesitate to just go and order in person, saving a couple of bucks on each wrap. They're fast and the food comes out piping hot. We live nearby so we just take our food home, even though the picnic tables are nice and there are dessert trucks there also. read more
