The atmosphere was lovely but it wasn't just the plants, light and music but Alexx and her ability to make me feel comfortable and secure. We spent ample time on my placement. Her station was clean, tidy and frankly really cool to look at. I inherently trusted every step of the process with her. She is the perfect artist for me as I love black and grey and surrealistic artwork. I cannot wait to go back to her for all my future tattoos and to delve into her realism work as it truly is so impeccable. This place was a great experience. The artist I booked (Alexx) was super cool and an amazing artist. The atmosphere was also super chill, the last studio I went into, the artists would sh*t talk their clients once they left; but I didn't get that vibe at all at twofold. I've had several tattoos done at this shop and so has my roommate and we wouldn't want to go anywhere else in town. The amount of artists they have in the shop just gives you so many options everyone I've worked with has been fantastic, Jake, Jordan and Angel are all amazing artists and I can't wait to book with everyone else someday. My last tattoo was done by Angel and it is fantastic. Booking was super easy and he has great communication so I wasn't left in the air or confused at any point. Our consultation was easy to set up and I came with an idea and he was open and excited, took the base idea I had and made the final design more amazing than I could have imagined it. And he has such a light hand it barely hurt. I mean it still hurts it's a tattoo but still not as much as it could have for sure. Prices of all the artists are not bad especially when you consider the quality of the work there. The shop is clean and the indoor plants are such a good vibe. Twofold Tattoo is so underrated, it's my favorite tattoo shop in Reno, and every artist there is so talented! I booked my first tattoo ever with Garrett and he worked with me to come up with a design I loved and recommended a location where the design would fit well (good call to NOT tattoo your ribs on the first go!) Later I was able to book a last-minute flash design opening and it's my favorite tattoo I have, it's gorgeous, healed well, and I get SO many compliments. When my 75 year old dad got jealous and wanted his first tattoo, I set up a consultation with Chad cause he does color and realism so well. He listened to my dad's ideas (and other unrelated stories) and made a beautiful design that my dad loves! He made sure my dad was comfortable and had him come back in for some touch ups he wanted as well. I'll always recommend this shop, if I had the funds I'd have my whole body covered in Garrett's work, tbh. read more

I arrived at the shop with my cousin, as walk ins. The artist, Keven, immediately started to make me look stupid by yelling "are you the one that called THREE times?" Mind you, the TWO times that I called, the line didn't even ring and then an operator would say, "this line has been disconnected." Right after doing that to try and embarrass me, we are joking around about letting me and my cousin tattoo each other and I had made a joke about being licensed. Immediately, Keven, responded "not possible, what is it like an esthetician license?" Insinuating that since I'm visibly gay, there's no way I could have a tattoo license or any other license. Pointing out the fact that I look gay to everyone in the shop. Keven, then started to argue with me that the design I wanted was the exact same as my cousin (we wanted matching tattoos). I told him it's a different font than my cousins and he continued to try to make me look stupid again by yelling "how sure are you that it's a different font." He called over my assigned artist and Jake immediately knew what I was saying and saw the difference in font. Then, Jake, my artist was ready for me and did such a wonderful job being precise and making it was perfect, adding his own ideas, and he was very gentle when doing my tattoo since it is my first tattoo. Jake made it so comfortable and easy going, reassuring me that we can redo the design until it's perfect. AFTER my tattoo was done, I went to show my cousin and it was perfect but Keven had a lot of opinions about it, stating that it's too thin, etc. I was told afterwards by my cousin who got her tattoo done by, Keven, the shop owner that he had a lot of sly homophobic things to say every time I would visit my cousin to see how she was doing, meanwhile drinking a beer while actively tattooing my cousin. At one point, he expected my cousin to agree with him and stated, "why is his shirt so short? Personally, I wouldn't wear an outfit like that ever." My little cousin actually had to come to my defense and told him to stop or he would've kept going. Unnecessary comments making it very uncomfortable for me as well as my cousin since she was actively getting tattooed by someone that was attacking her own cousin. Keven is very unprofessional and I would not recommend going to him, but everyone else in the shop seemed super caring and precise which was nice. read more

Short: 10/10 Will be returning. Great artists, clean workspace, basically everything you want in a tattoo shop. Long: I went in for a tattoo on my forearm. It's my family crest and I have been waiting 12 years to get this thing. When I stepped in, I noticed it was clean and the people who work there were happy. I didn't have to wait long, even though I showed up a little to early, and I felt I was the focus of my artists attention the entire time I was there. Mackenzie was my artist and is one of the owners. She was incredible. She dealt with some scheduling problems on my end with no complaint and worked with me to come up with what I and everyone I have shown it to, which is basically everyone that will stop and listen, believe is a great result! The tattoo took 4-5 hours counting breaks and she never made me feel uncomfortable or like I had to worry about the outcome. Overall I feel incredibly happy with the result and I will be returning for future work. read more

I came here to get my first tattoo. As I walked in I noticed lovely interior design that really contradicts the stereotypical tattoo shop. Made the experience very much less nerve racking as you can the owners really did put effort into creating a nice friendly environment. My tattoo artist, Garrett, was very kind and communicative the whole time which made my first tattoo experience a very pleasant time. First time at Twofold Tattoo. Scheduled to have done the Auryn symbol and a script "S" nothing super difficult. Had corresponded for 3 weeks via IG with Garrett. S tattoo was in bikini area. Auryn was going to be in the hip/bikini area right side. Everything was going great until he finish first tattoo and then told me he was having major anxiety about tackling the second tattoo, i encouraged him and said i've seen your work on IG, we don't have to add color just do black and gray. I deal with anxiety so I know how it can be. Not sure what caused it, needless to say I did not get my hip tattoo done. Shop owner was unavailable to do tattoo on the spot and she was booked out till February. Garrett did however not charge me for first tattoo because of the inconvenience. I was very disappointed and looking forward to this new piece for 3 weeks even after I got booked and then had to reschedule a week later due to scheduling issues. I don't think I will be returned to this shop, but hopefully others have a better experience than I did. read more
