This little coffee shop in Old Town Clovis was cute! It was my first time there and the staff was helpful with me in all that they had to offer. I decided on a rolled ice cream. Dark Matter. I enjoy walking around old town clovis with my family and usually need something to help quench my thirst. My brother and I came upon this small, hidden coffee shop when we were looking for something to drink. It may not look like much but it's some of the best coffee I've had here in Fresno. The espresso is rich and they have a variety of items without going overboard. I got a Iced chai and it was gone within minutes. I have stopped getting coffee here after the last time I stopped by a few months ago. I've been by many times before for drinks and breakfast sandwiches and it's always been great service and the drinks and food have tasted great. However, I stopped by whilst waiting for my car to be smogged and was disappointed with the service this time around. I had stood in line for over 20 minutes waiting to put in my order, for the woman at the counter to look over me and take orders from people she knew who came in after me. Even when I said I'd been waiting, I was ignored by the customers and the woman at the counter. I left without ordering. This coffee shop is really cute . Serves a variety of different drinks. Great options of food items, they even have donuts and pastries by the front window. Staff is friendly and will explain menu items if there are any questions. Coffee beans are roasted there as well. I really enjoy coming to this coffee shop. This is a tough review to write. More than any other food/drink establishment in the Central Valley that I am aware of, Two Cities straddles the fine line between "the customer is always right" and "the owner is always right." While I respect the heck out of today's business owners and entrepreneurs, and would not presume to know how they should run their businesses, owner expertise should be balanced with a sense of wanting to please customers however they can and to try their level best to give them what they want. If a customer wants to put A-1 sauce on a well done prime steak, this may offend the chef's sensibilities, but shouldn't the customer have at least some say? Let me say this so I am clear: this is the best coffee in Clovis by a country mile and among the very best the Valley has to offer. It is extraordinary. The spicy breakfast sandwich alone is worth the journey. But there are some some service quirks that verge on deal-breaking, even if the staff here here is friendly and thorough and capable. First, the staff does not answer the phone when they get busy. Perfectly understandable and within their rights, but this also means you can't plan your coffee routine around them. If this were any other business, this would not be an issue. But as coffee is the world's most routinized consumable, getting this mastered--particularly during a morning rush-- is a must. By default, intentionally or unintentionally, Two Cities is a coffee house for the leisurely sipper who has time to spare, not the worker on the go. Parking is tricky to boot. Second, they only offer whole milk in their choices of dairy milk. This is not uncommon among high end coffee houses (despite this being a bit of a snooty "daddy knows best" sensibility), but it all but rules out anyone who wants low-fat or nonfat milk in their espresso-based beverages. When I asked about this the first time, the owner told me that they did not want to have to get stuck with throwing away nonfat milk that no one used. Really? At a maximum that will cost you 3 dollars per week. And people WILL use it. How about this: buy one half gallon per week and if you run out, just say so? When I asked the owner about this a second time, he told me that the reason they didn't carry low-fat or non-fat milk is because it didn't foam up as well as whole milk. Nonsense. The foam quality is negligible between whole and low-fat and a skilled barista can make non-fat milk foam like a strip club jacuzzi if they wanted to. The point is that they just won't be bothered to adjust their offerings in even tiny ways to please the customer. That is their right, of course. I get it. More power to them. But it is also possible to be so nonplussed that you end up being too cute for your own good. The problem with an attitude of "If you don't like it, you can take your business elsewhere" is that the customer just might do that. Which would be a crying shame, because Two Cities is just a few tweaks away from being legendary. read more

Tried two cities for the first time today. I was greeted with a friendly hello. I felt welcomed. The atmosphere was clean and cozy. I was looking for my friend and they told me they had a back patio which I would have never known about. It's very small inside but if you go around the side of the building there's a nice big shaded patio with plenty of seating. I ordered a decaf caramel latte iced with almond milk. It was pretty good, the coffee wasn't too strong, it was just right. Unfortunately it wasn't as sweet as I had hoped. Thankfully they gave me a little side of caramel to drizzle in which helped. My friend ordered their rolled brownie ice cream and she said it was really good. It was a cool little experience to watch ice cream being made. I'm definitely looking forward to returning with my hubby to have a date night. I will try a different coffee next time. Over all my experience was enjoyable. The service was very friendly and nice. They have the best dirty chai! I usually get the Vanilla Java Chai. I appreciate the non-dairy options. Very good other coffee, too. I love the outside sitting area in the back. It's nice that they have a speaker system so you know when your drink is ready, rather than just having to stand by the counter. The only bad thing is the line for taking orders, it's pretty awkward how everyone is just crammed in there going opposite ways. Overall, it's definitely worth walking over there when Kuppa Joy is really busy (or even if they're not!). read more

A coffee dream located in Old Town Clovis, this is quickly becoming a go to spot for me when I'm visiting the Fresno area. Offering a wide range of coffee drinks, as well as a rotating shop morning roast, I appreciate their attention to detail. Breakfast options are also great here, and well priced, just wish they had something vegan / lactose intolerant friendly on their breakfast menu, but beggars can't be choosers. I wanted to like this place so much more but I'm a bit concerned. I just went here and got their chili mocha coffee (a good idea but didn't have enough flavor in the chili direction to make it what it could have been). Then there's the fact that I got fairly sick shortly after having this coffee (I can't say for sure it wasn't just me and my stomach but the coincidence has me concerned). I will say, on the plus side, the coffee appears to be of good quality and the price is more than reasonable with good customer service and a rather pleasant atmosphere. Update 10/23: I greatly appreciate the prompt responsiveness of this coffee shop and the politeness of their staff. I will have to run by this shop again to give them a second chance. Hopefully the issue was with my stomach and not the coffee. As I said initially, I really want to like this place and that was the main thing keeping me from truly enjoying it. read more

Had a iced white chocolate, and a chicken wrap. The wrap was good, however a bit expensive. $14.95, I believe, for a wrap and a small cup of fruit. The wrap had a good balance of flavor and acidity. Excellent locally roasted coffee so gets four stars. They do sell an assortment of pastries and breakfast items but I can only comment on the croissant which I will tell you to pass on... It is doughy and not the least bit flaky that you would expect from a good croissant.. Nice back patio.. My concern is for their methodology of ordering and delivery of food/drinks... The issue is it is all done out of the same little window by one person... It is very inefficient... I'm in town visiting family for a few days and went to search for my go to matcha spot. i was excited to see they had a high quality matcha on the menu, when i went in to order i was wildly disappointed with the customer service offered. although i could order a matcha latte, i was told i wasn't allowed to choose which milk could go in it, even tho it was not pre mixed. they said 'they don't stray away from their recipes' and i could only get a matcha if it was made with oatmilk. i was pretty disappointed that i couldn't have a drink the way i'd preferred, even though the mixture isn't pre made. because they choose a low quality, heavily processed oatmilk that contains ingredients like seed oils & many additives i wasn't able to get a matcha. i left pretty disappointed that i wasn't able to customize my drink order. read more

This is a treasure of a little spot in Old Town Clovis. Better than Starbucks for real coffee!! My review is favorable with one suggestion for Two Cities. When you come here, expect that they don't do drip coffee and the roast their own beans off site. Their options are Chemex, VR60 and French Press. We usually get a couple of Chemex coffees, expect at least a 10-15 minute wait - again this isn't drip coffee. We love the flavor and care of the skilled brew technique. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The ambiance is pleasant, clean the music is nice. My suggestion is that they vary their single origin light roast options and include an Ethiopian instead of just Mexican chiapas. Online ordering is available to lessen your wait and they have a back patio for onsite overflow sipping. The indoors are not open anymore as of the date I write this review and I hope they consider opening it in this summer heat, it's hard to desire hot coffee while sitting in 106°- shade or not. read more

I go here once a month or so. It's solid. Today though the cashier refused to substitute oat-milk for cows milk in an Oat-milk Matche Latte! He explained the Oat-milk Matche drink is a "wellness drink, we don't offer it with milk". Hmm weird, I asked if they had milk in the shop and he smiled, yes. But still didn't offer a substitution. As in "No, I'll tell you, what YOU want, this is for YOUR own good, it's healthy". Still bought the drink because I had brought two friends with me, and didn't want to seem petty, by saying "I don't want it then." This was unfortunate and makes the shop seem snobby to me and them. I don't care for oat milk, and it disagrees with my stomach. I like the milk because it has healthy fat. Can you fix this? This place truly makes me happy. It's cozy and smells wonderful. The last time I was here I had rolled ice cream (Apple pie) it was incredible and full of flavor. Nothing like any rolled ice cream I have ever had before. This time around I had their Oat milk Matcha Latte, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was impressed, it was delicious. I also had their cookies and cream rolled ice cream. The flavors are bold and so delicious. Definitely recommend. The service is amazing. They are very friendly and are more then happy to answer your 100 questions. (I like to know what everything is) The ONLY negative thing I have to say is seating. The stools are quite uncomfortable but with not much room I understand. I don't want to knock off a star just because of it hopefully one day they can get a bigger place for more laid back seating. I came here with a friend one morning because she comes here almost everyday. She couldn't say enough good things about this place. I've gotten tired of drinking coffee from major chain stores and was up for something new. Without really knowing what it was I was looking for, I tried a vanilla latte at Two Cities and was sold 100%. If only they had a store in Kingsburg! I'd be there every single day! The coffee was piping hot and smooth. The flavor was out of this world! And the foam was the best foam I've ever had on a latte before. The design added a nice touch. The building is a little small, but that adds to its charm. They did a beautiful job on the design. They do have outdoor seating for those that prefer to sit outside. Brother ordered the vanilla chai hot. It was super creamy and perfectly sweet! My husbands peppermint twist rolled ice cream looked beautiful and perfectly peppermintyyy. I had the penguin latte rolled ice cream. It had a shot of their own house brewed espresso!!! The favors came out so well with the chocolate vanilla and espresso. I do need to add though, the organization this coffee shop has is absolutely great. Not messy or cluttered at all. They have their flow going. Which helps with the high volume of customers. Came in to celebrate my daughter passing her drivers license test with some rolled ice cream. It was our first time trying rolled ice cream so we were super excited and I have to say we were not disappointed with the flavors and texture of the rolled ice cream. We got chocolate brownie crunch, apple pie and no tell banana. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Love the location and they offer indoor and outdoor seating.
