We came here Saturday and the inside was instantly familiar. I had been here years ago when it was a different Vineyard. The inside seating was all full when we got there. We decided to do a standing tasting at the bar instead of sitting outside. I forgot to get the servers' names. A woman was helping us for a couple tastes then disappeared. We waited about 15 minutes until a man started helping us. He was great. Unfortunately I didn't like any of their wines. My boyfriend liked a couple though. I thought the tasting was overpriced for Sonoita. It was $16pp with no take home glass. They have cornhole outside and they are having a wine festival on March 19-20, 2022.

Situated at an angle that accentuates the beautiful mountains, Twisted Union is an excellent place to relax in a rocking chair and soak in the panoramic scenery. We stayed overnight in the Vineyard View room, which was spacious, clean, and well appointed, with pretty furnishings and art and thoughtful little touches throughout (simple things, such as ample soaps and multiple Kleenex boxes make such a difference). Bed was a little firm for us, but that's subjective. We thoroughly enjoyed our winery day in Elgin and Sonoita and are looking forward to future visits to Twisted Union. Didn't see much on their calendar, for live music and events, but can imagine that picking up in harvest time.

Nice place. The winemaker was behind the counter and also served us a tasting. Smart and friendly guy. We bought two bottles of the "Joy Rider" red blend. We'd come back!

I was so excited when I heard someone bought this gorgeous property. We went a few months back and absolutely love the changes they have made, and LOVE the wine.

We stayed in the airbnb above/within the Twisted Union Winery tasting room and loved it. The wine is great, the staff are excellent and full of knowledge. They really paid attention to the details while renovating this building. It is beautiful! The towels were thick and comfy, the toilet paper was high quality, there were tissues all around the room, instructions for the tv, everything was clean, and there were snacks and waters with the coffee. The only areas I would liked to have experienced differently would be the jets in the tub working and perhaps some weather stripping under our door. There is a pretty large gap which allows a lot of noise to come in and out. The bed is very firm, which is great for some and not for others, personal preference of course. We will certainly be back for such amazing views.

    White wine!!

The stay was fine overall, but there were quite a few frustrations. The contact number they gave us barely replied to texts, and no one ever picked up when we tried calling. The WiFi in the room was basically unusable--so slow that I couldn't even take a call. The shower has an open design, which meant water flooded half the bathroom every time. The casita itself is a decent size with space for a dining area and a bedroom, but the bed is designed to be lifted up to the ceiling, which felt completely unnecessary. That said, the view was stunning--facing the sunrise, and waking up to it was definitely the highlight of the stay. They provide a half bottle of wine as a welcome gift, but it's the cheapest wine they produce. Bottles at the vineyard start at $29, and anything else on the list starts around $44. For a place where you're right at the source, that felt steep. This makes me wonder how much are these wine costs if you buy it from a third party store. Personally, not that screw top makes any difference to the quality of the wine, but paying $50+ for a screw top bottle of wine off the shelf is unreal, especially coming from Europe. The restaurant is beautiful but the menu is rather small. Lunch is tapa style and dinner has a changing menu depending on what the chef wants to cook. Pretty hard to plan your meals if you are a picky eater.

The short version of this review is this: good wine, good vibes, and you can fly kites here!…read more My husband and I visited flying kite vineyard this past weekend and I knew I wanted to leave it a review! We had a genuinely good time here. This vineyard is owned by a husband and wife who grew their own grapes for 15 years (selling to other local wineries) before deciding to make their own wine. I do feel that this experience of growing grapes has lent them the knowledge of what makes a good wine. We both did the tasting and enjoyed all of the wines; we even got an extra glass and bought a bottle to take home. Flying Kite has great vibe - we felt like we were hanging out at a friend's house. The owners were incredibly friendly and the way they chatted with us felt genuine. There were a few groups of people there, smiles well around. As the name of the vineyard states, there is also kite flying here! The owners have a bunch of kites available for anyone to use. It was so much fun flying kites while drinking wine - truly a novel experience! I would also like to note here the attention to detail in how they constructed this tasting room/patio - given how windy sonoita/elgin gets during the day, the owners were conscious of which direction the wind typically blows and therefore, they built the tasting patio so that you are completely blocked from the wind. This might seem like a minor detail but when you've been out in the wind all day, it is so nice to get a break from it. I just really appreciated this as I felt it was very thoughtful. Overall, I would say that flying kite is one of my favorite vineyards in this area. I would absolutely come back here again!

I applaud the owners for rescuing their dogs but I am warning everyone reading this, do not bring your dog here unless you are holding your dog in your arms the entire time. There were 3 wines to taste and we didn't like any of them. The 2016 Malvasia was both sour and sweet and the Reisling was dry and very oaky due the oak chips they use in the barrel. The fourth and last tasting was of their peach bellini sushi mix that you can add your own wine to but they added one of theirs to it. It was sickeningly sweet and I couldn't drink it. I would have been interested to try red sangria slushy. Their dogs seemed normal and calm walking around the backyard. I kept my dog on leash and stood by them at first. After the 2nd taste of wine, I let me dog loose right next to us. Within a couple minutes one of their large dogs attacked my yorkie. We were very lucky that my boyfriend turned around and grabbed her before she was hurt. There was slobber on my dogs back where their dog put its mouth on her. This is why I do not recommend bringing your dog here unless you are holding the dog at all times. Honestly I'm surprised they still charged us for the tasting after this. We were so shook up, we almost got up and left after it happened without finishing the tasting.

Hannah's seemed to get very good…read morereviews and looked homey and quaint in pics so we stopped there as our second tasting destination. I am giving 3 stars only because of the friendliness of the proprietor. She is a fellow dog lover who rescues and has her beautiful pets roaming the winery. Putting that aside, this winery does not make a good first impression. It has the decor of a back patio with lots of clutter, nik naks and only a few tables. It sits lower than many of the sister wineries in the area, so there is no real view. If I were the owner, I'd declutter, redecorate, add some new furniture and give the winery a style makeover. After all, customers are paying for these tastings. Tasting prices are average, but if you don't bring your own glass you will need to purchase theirs for $6 (not optional unlike the previous winery we had been to were purchasing was optional). With two mandatory wine glasses and three very subpar tastings, our tab was $30. Now, onto the wines. There were 3. I'm sorry to say this, but they were not good wines. In fact, the Malvasia Bianca Quartz 2020 was the worst wine we have ever tried. Metallic, mineral, dirt tasting. We were informed that these are grapes that grow up amongst the rocks and that's why it has that name. These grapes must be the bottom feeder rejects of the grape world! Table next to us actually dumped that same wine into the grass. If you want a nice friendly conversation with a dog lover, visit Hannah's. If you want a nice outdoor experience and good wine..... Check out some of the other wineries in the area.
