From the moment we walked in the gentleman behind the counter, was very attentive. He was engaging with my wife and I even though he had numerous people there. The wines were fabulous. It was hard to pick. Just one to take home. It was definitely one of the best experiences we had in the Elgin area. It was the polar opposite of autumn sage, which is in the area as well. I really enjoyed visiting this wine tasting room and vineyard in Elgin. The wine tasting is $17 if you use their glass or $12 if you bring your own. They had some good red wines, including a GSM (Orbit) and Syrah (Constellation). The customer service was always quick and friendly. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is that they do not have any food, not even snacks or charcuterie. They also do not explain much of the vineyard's history during the tasting. read more

We stopped in on there reconnection from another winery Ava we're glad we did. Dan was amazing. It was pretty busy but he manages all the tastings with ease. I work at a tasting room in CO and I notice he kept up with which wines each table was on in their tastings without having to ask - it's a skill many don't have. He was very knowledgeable about the wines and the AVA in general too. The tasting room was clean and bright with all the large windows. We loved the Constellation and bought several bottles to take home with us. We'll definitely go back next time we're in the area. read more

We had a wonderful experience tasting wines here. Dan greeted us as soon as we came through the door, and he even asked if we would like a tour since business was a little slow that day. We really enjoyed that! Loved the ambience, and ALL of the wines. Since we were in the area for two days, we came back the next day on the way back to the valley and bought two bottles - "Aurora" and "Big Bang." The thing I love about wine tasting is talking to the winemaker about the wines! That was lacking here, unfortunately. We got a one-liner about the first wine "it's a white for red wine drinkers" and then directed to seats outside. After the next couple tastings with the same communication, we opted to stay at the bar in hopes of learning more about the wines and the winery. We got a little more info, but mostly the staff was chatting with each other. Also, unfortunately, and more importantly, we weren't a fan of the wine. It was all very almost watery tasting, very puckery. Nice location tho! read more

Happened on Deep Sky Winery today, so happy our group did....really enjoyed all the wines in the tastings! My favorite was the Big Bang Malbec. If you are in the area stop by, you won't be sorry. This was 1 out of 5 places we went to for a self directed wine tasting tour over the weekend. I did not do a tasting here, they had a deal for $5 rose all day. So I had a glass of that. We had a really chill time here. Next adventure to Deep Sky I will have to pay more attention to the wines and do a tasting lol. The property itself is relaxing. Pros: - nice indoor tasting area that extends out to large covered patio area with plenty of seats facing a beautiful view of the vineyard. - loved sitting in the red & grey adirondack chairs and taking in the scenery. - friendly staff behind the bar. - there was a handcrafted maker named Tony inside selling his wares. Very cool ambiance and wine. It really is very relaxing place with great red wines- we bought 2. The whites were ok also. People brought some lunch and picnic outside while playing bocci ball and corn hole. We will be back to this winery. read more

It was pretty, but the wines were not for me. Nothing stood out on my palate, and there was very little information about any of the wines or the vineyard's history. It felt kind of bar-like because we had to get up and walk over every time we wanted a new tasting, which was just sort of pour and go on your way. It did have some outdoor seating as well, but it was too hot for that. Compared to the other places around, Deep Sky just fell below expectations. read more

I came here for a tasting on Wednesday and liked their 2016 Stellar Grenache and the 2016 Gravity GSMP blend. They do have a large table inside for group seating. And the view from the tasting room of the vineyards is beautiful. They have a classic rock artwork theme going on with paintings for sale. Their neighbor built a house on the other side of the vineyards and they rent out a room for 'a stay on the vineyard.' read more

If you're a fan of red wines, Deep Sky is a must to stop by in Sonoita - the tasting room is spacious, the patio and views are beautiful, and there's bocce ball and corn hole if you want to play games while enjoying their wines. The staff is knowledgeable, and the tasting manager Dan is so great! We loved the wines so much that we ended up signing up for the wine club. It's free to join, and the wine club releases occur twice a year - you can choose your 6 wines that you want included. Stopped in for a tasting while boondocking at a nearby winery. Small unassuming tasting room but a nice outside seating area with great views. The server David i think was very pleasent and helpful. Now to the wines. They had a rose special 9 oz for $5. I dont care for Rose' but this was nice, good complexity. I did a tasting. It was $15 for 5 tastings. There wasn't a mediocre one in the bunch. All good butmy favorite was the Gravity. All their wines (5) are very reasonably priced. This one is a must if you are doing the Elgin wineries. read more

This was our first and so far only winery in the area we've visited. They do things a little differently in Sonoita, I guess. You get a discounted tasting if you bring your own wine glass or glass purchased from another winery. Unfamiliar with this BYO policy, my husband and I took home two wine glasses by sharing a tasting (all reds on our visit) and a glass of our favorite of the bunch. That was a difficult call to make because almost every pour we tried was worthy of a glass. Lovely views from the back porch, and they've got a bocce court and cornhole as well. They also host live music events throughout the year. While the individual conducting the wine tasting took a while to warm up to, we learned quite a bit from others in the tasting room, a few of which were locals and club members. By the end of our visit we'd signed up as club members ourselves. Our first shipment arrived last week and we're looking forward to enjoying Deep Sky wines at home with friends and hopefully a return visit to the vineyard and tasting room sometime soon! read more

We had a wonderful tasting experience at Deep Sky. We prefer red wines, and the server generously offered to substitute a red wine for the rose that is on the tasting menu. We especially liked the Constellation which is a syrah, so we bought a bottle to take home. The tasting room was beautiful along with the awesome extended patio. I didn't care for any of the wines but am giving this place three stars simply based off of the ample seating, beautiful building and amazing porch. I think this place has some real potential if they focus on making a few sweeter wines. They only had 5 wines to sample from and none of them really impressed me nor made me want to buy a bottle. Deep Sky ended up being my second (by a hair) favorite wine country stop. It was, without question, the most interesting and cerebral stop. First, the space is brand spanking new - an airy tasting space with views over the countryside. On the wall is vintage album cover art - super cool. Next - the owners and staff are delightful. Definitely people you can sit and have a conversation with. I really enjoyed a chat with the owner Phil where he explained their logo (ask, it's super cool), astrophysics and how he bought an Argentinian vineyard after a wine filled evening. This guy parties. But - what about the wine??? Honestly, on the wine front it was probably my favorite stop all day, even though I'm not a big red drinker. You can taste the quality. Headed out to wine country? My second favorite winery in Tucson! I love the atmosphere here...big huge windows that let all the light in, a roll up window when the weather is nice, fun patio games and a nice place to sit and relax. Their wine is exceptional, and even their merchandise is cute. The bartender/manager, Dan, is super friendly and takes the time to talk to all the guests. Dang, the building is NICE! The owners are investing big time on the infrastructure and you can tell by the beautiful facility. This was the 3rd place I visited as a part of the wine tour, and it was right after lunch, so I spent most of the time sitting on the patio relaxing and listening to the owners' stories. They're so nice and surely passionate about wine making. The tasting has 5 pours but the owner gave us an extra red which was super tasty. I had a great time. Thank you! read more
