In addition to indoor areas, use of these products is banned outdoors within 15 feet from any entrance, exit, window that opens, or ventilation intake of a public place or place of employment. The SFIA has been protecting Illinois residents and visitors from the dangers of secondhand smoke since its enactment on January 1, 2008; e-cigarettes were added to the act beginning January 1, 2024.

When the manager saw us playing euchre, however, she screamed at us from across the bar that euchre was "illegal" and not allowed. She demanded that we stop immediately and made clear that we were not welcome at the establishment. Playing a friendly, non-cash game of cards is not illegal, and the manager said she also would have kicked us out for playing Uno. As a private business, McKay's is free to enforce whatever rules it wants. However, in addition to being forced to leave, the way the manager handled the situation was unnecessarily aggressive and belittling. She could have quietly come to our table and explained the policy, but instead chose to yell at us from across the bar. There are plenty of great businesses in Blo-No worth supporting that do not treat their patrons this way. I will take my future business elsewhere and encourage anyone reading this to do the same.
