I had scheduled an appointment for my son for the next day at 4:30. My son arrived the next day at 4:32. When he arrived, he waited for 5 minutes then had been seen by Annemarie who had put him under the wash for his dreads, then unexpectedly proceeded to tell him he had been an hour late for his appointment, and because of this he will need to wait an hour to wait for ANOTHER customer to get his hair done. During this wait he was told by Doug that he needed to "announce yourself especially if your going to a new spot," which had been confusing because he'd only waited 5 minutes to be seen as previously mentioned. After sitting in the twisted roots salon for an hour, he was finally seen by Annemarie. During the retwist, Annemarie had stopped what she had been doing on his hair to service a different client, seeing this my son now recognized she had overbooked. He got there at the specified time, was being seen within 5 minutes of walking in, then immediately is told after they soak his hair that he will have to wait an hour to be serviced. Seems desperate, as I told him he should have walked out then and there. No accountability, was not able to focus on one client, and downright lied because she couldn't handle the schedule she curated for herself. If you want to take someone you love to get their hair treated by a professional, maybe twisted roots isn't what your looking for! read more

In response to your lying response. Nothing fell on deaf ears. Yes, I was a walk-in, however, Delores initially told me she could do my hair, then when I showed-up for our appointment, after combing-out my thin dreads, she determined that she couldn't do anything! Yes, there was a specific appointment made, in fact, because I was running late, the look on her face when I arrived, was that of relief. I was under the impression that she thought that I was going to stand her up. One of my sisters' who referred me there, informed me that I should had talked to Douglas B., unfortunately, I forgot, and eventually talked to a lying unprofessional! Yes, for your information, I did find another locs salon blocks away from you who were able to do something with my hair! It was my intent to seek consultation from Douglas because he came highly recommended, however, after reading this inaccurate response from the owner, who wasn't there, and obviously wasn't told the truth. I have no intentions on ever going back to Twisted Roots! Once again you are lying! Why would I show back up in a place that couldn't do anything for me. Again your information is twisted, I still have the card that Delores wrote the time for me to come back on the back of it, as well as the fact that I never returned there because two weeks after that wasted encounter with Delores, another salon was able to do something with my hair. Had I ever returned to your shop, you or whomever would be present, would had saw the work of a for real loc stylist/technician, and wouldn't be lying about claiming that I you saw me returned to your shop! I just started the loc process today, and i left this salon satisfied. I definitely will recommend this shop for people thats starting locs or have locs. I went to Delores, but a few people that i ran into that had locs, and been to that shop before said that Doug was the person to see & that my locs would have been flawless if i would of went to him. But everyone said Delores still did a decent job, but doug would of laid it out for me. I wish i would of knew that in advance because i want my dreads to look really good... But we will see how it grows out, and delores was really nice, and knowledgeable on doing dreads so will see. I'll post some update pictures in 3months. I am so pleased with the amazing service at Twisted Roots Salon! I started my loc journey in February 2020 with stylist/Owner - Doug. He recommended a consultation since I transited from relaxed hair to starter locs. He educated me, relaxed my nerves, and made me feel like VIP as I went through the "BIG CHOP"! The salon is clean, staff members are professional, and the vibes are always GOOD! I most admire the promptness of my appointments. I am literally in and out in under 2 hours. Excellent 1st time experience at Twisted Roots. I scheduled my appointment thru booking application on their website. Let me say SEAMLESS. Let me also say that is perfect as well as convenient for me. I arrived at shop at my scheduled time and was immediately serviced. Doug is all that and more that I read in previous reviews. He definitely educated me on some things regarding my hair. I am a loyal person, (been with previous loctician for 3 years) she is good however she has numerous jobs (I get it) and hard to schedule an appointment with...which it is why the online booking system with Twisted Roots is impressive. I made an appointment online and get there, the man i had an appointment with looked at my daughters hair and said it was a mess and he couldn't do it at my appointment time which was 10:00am, i remind u i got there at 9:30 so early and plenty of time and i guess he didn't want to do my child hair. So i had drive all the way back home in the south burbs , so i was pretty upset that i drove all that way to be turned around because he didnt feel like doing hair when i had money to pay. read more

She was very professional and friendly. She walked me through everything she was doing with my hair to make me feel more comfortable with a new stylist. Lo and Doug are knowledgeable about hair care. They are flexible when I call last minute for a wash and locstitch and are reasonably. They are down to earth people and I enjoy my time in the shop because I used to hate beauty salons. I don't spend all day getting my hair done, which I greatly appreciate. I have been going to Twisted Roots for four years now and all of my experiences have been fantastic! When I first started attending the salon my hair was severely damaged and I just felt like it would never grow or be healthy. Under the wise care of the owner, Doug, he was able to give my hair new life and not only style it in ways that are attractive, but also ensure that my hair is healthy and its being properly cared for. About 2 and a half years ago, with the help of Doug, I made the decision to loc my hair. My locs started out as little half inch dots on my head, and I was initially concerned about my appearance, but I was repeatedly reminded to trust the process. Now my locs are nearly shoulder length and this is the longest and healthiest my hair has ever been in my life! The cosmologists are friendly, professional and skilled in their craft. I had an appointment for a two strand dry twist with Deloris. I have very thick hair so I tried to explain that over the phone. She said she would charge me an extra $15. I was fine with that. During my appointment, she was very polite, professional and asked a lot of questions about how I wanted my hair done. I appreciated her wanting to give me what I wanted. It took a long time for her to finish and at the end, she increased the price by $40! If she wanted to see my hair for a consultation in advance, she should have mentioned that. When I arrived for my appointment and she saw how much hair I had, she could have informed me that she would have to charge more before she started. The fact that she did not do either of these and upped the price SO much at the end because it took her a long time ruined the experience for me. On top of that, she didn't twist my hair from the root, made very boxy parts and broke some of my hair off when she blow dried it so I wasn't happy with the way my hair looked. I think that Deloris usually does treated hair styles and not natural styles. I also wish this was also better communicated. read more
