This place was a serious bummer. Even for airport food I was highly disappointed. As I watched my food being sloppily thrown together, I wished that I had just eaten a three day old hotdog from the 7/11 nextdoor. This sentiment did not disappear when I actually tried the food. There were 2 people in line in front of us. The menu said expect to wait around 10 min. for your food. No big deal. We saw our vegan burgers come up in the window after about five min. then we saw every other person before us and long after us get their food while our non-meat patties sat in the window, not on a plate, getting cold and sad. They sat their for about 20min. before anyone decided to put them on a bun and hand them to us. They were out of toppings that we had to pay extra for, and our vegan burgers were basically rice and beans smashed together to form a burger like shape, but they completely fell apart as we ate them. It was truly ridiculous to see our food sit there for so long. The whole time we waited I hoped that those gross cold "burgers" were not ours and that it was just taking longer since we ordered vegan... but no. I watched them slap those babies on a bun and hand them over long after all the other customers behind us had come and gone. I was too annoyed to take a picture, and honestly I was too hungry and late (after about 25 min. of waiting) to even say something to someone who worked there about how unacceptable it was. Apparently this location of Twisted Root did not know how to make their vegabond burger. I opened my meal in the airplane and it was a big pile of loose rice and beans, something hard and crunchy, not sure if it was undercooked rice or crust. Twisted Root makes the best burgers and is a fun place to dine...in Deep Ellum. The Twisted Root at DFW is the worst food and a most miserable experience. The buns are stale, the tables dirty, the prices high, and they lack the ingredients to make a many of the burgers shown on the menu. I thought it might have just been an off day so I gave them a second chance. Same pitiful experience. I'll be in Dallas three days next week and plan to visit the Deep Ellum location to get my Twisted Root fix. read more

Overall an underwhelming experience based on my visit. Chik fill a was too far and I settled for this place. The fries were not crispy and the burger dry. On top of that when you get an egg on your burger, you often want it to have a slightly runny yolk when you bite into it... that did not happen. Ugh. Very slow (over 15 minutes in an airport terminal!). Our food was mediocre at best... greasy and flavorless. My son got the Kevin Bacon burger which was dry and the bacon only half cooked (half burned, half uncooked fat). My Mexican salad was okay. On my way home from Dallas I checked out all the different food options at DFW terminal while waiting to board my flight. I was kinda craving a good burger since I have never heard of twisted​ root burger co...... I decided to give them a try. Nice burger concept and good customer service. I had the freshman 15 burger which had bacon, fried egg and fries. I also thought it was pretty cool that after taking your order they give you a ticket with a name of a celebrity or a super hero and call you by that name once your order is ready. Also they have huge jars of different varieties of pickles on their condiment table...... if you're a pickle lover you can get your fix for sure. I kinda liked the pickles they we're quite good. Now as far as the burger goes.....it is definitely not a gourmet burger.... but I'll say it was better than the burger you get at regular fast food burger joint. The burger patty wasn't as juicy as I would have liked I also wish the fried egg on my burger wasn't well done....it would have been a lot better if it was cooked over easy with a runny yoke. I LOVED the humungous pickles, Love they call you by celebrities names (I was Austin Powers). Onion rings on the burger, huge huge huge, and the BBQ has a kick to it. Also, the BBQ has a little bit of an after taste, unusual, not especially bad, but still that element exists. Great atmosphere, I wish the chairs would be a little more comfy, but liked the wall os bumper stickers, great light into the restaurant, and super super friendly staff :) read more

Really great spot if you have a 45min ish layover in terminal A. It's not as fast as a McDonald's so don't come here if you need a quick meal. I also liked that they assign you a card with a celebrity or character name (since when I'm hungry & waiting for a flight my creativity level drops). They have a variety of burger choices. I had the Vagabond (or was it Vegibond?), which was vegetarian-friendly. It was crumbly & fell apart easily, but it was delicious (I dubbed it "The Sloppy Joe" of veggie burgers!). It may get crowded in the area, but I was with a group of 5-7 adults & 2 kids (ages 4 & 1 years), & we had a good place to sit by the wall. I had the big Tex burger without bun. It was deliciously and perfectly cooked with quac and onion rings. But moreover I was impressed with the personal attention the staff gave every customer. From the cashier who was concerned that I have something to drink even if it was my own, to the keen attention the manager Gemma gave to everyone! My fiance and I came here before our flight, and it was absolutely yummy. The cashier was hilarious and made us feel right at home, which says a lot for an airport burger joint. I had the veggie burger topped with avocado and sriracha wrapped in lettuce with a side of fries and this was SO GOOOOOOD! I love all the different sauces they have at the table (bbq sauces, spicy mustards, etc) as well as the variety of pickles you can choose from when you go pick up your order. I'm sad to say that that is the real key to my heart: delicious sauces and pickles. You're given the name of a celebrity that they call over the speaker when it's time to pick up your tray, which is pretty cute, but I didn't really get why. But it took "Adele" about five minutes of calling to realize who she was, and that was pretty funny. The wait was a bit long, so I would caution against coming here if you have a tight connection or arrive right before your flight. For us, this was no big deal, and it was worth the wait. read more
