TL;DR: Locally made, high quality leather goods, lifetime warranty. Hand stitched. Also: Knives, candles, belts, coasters, customs, wood working, and more. A few years ago, I stumbled upon Twisted Arrow Goods when they had a pop up in Forth & Nomad (when they had newly opened in the Heights). I was intrigued by the beautiful leather wallets, curious about the leather patina (the darkening and aging of leather over time). There was a neat strip next to the wallets, like you'd find in the paint section of a store, with patches demonstrating the different shades of aging leather -- from pink to maple to a beautiful deep brown. I called the store about a week later to inquire about the wallets and they sent me to the newly opened brick & mortar for Twisted Arrow Goods, off 34th. My first purchase was a gift: a classic bi-fold wallet with embossed initials added, free of charge. I met Clay, the owner, for the first time and was amazed. He's friendly, informative, honest, and a true local. He shared his thoughts on local farmers markets and gave me a few recommendations of spots to check out. You can still find Twisted Arrow Goods at a few around the greater Houston area. Plus, customer service? Well Clay is a super star when it comes to customer service. He's responsive, caring, involved, and has best intentions in mind. I've had to repair one of my items and modify another and it's truly a hassle free process. He makes wonderful recommendations and isn't pushy with sales in any way. He's excited by the items in the shop and he is passionate about his work, a borderline perfectionist. Clay welcomes folks to watch him work and is willing to teach folks who are curious about the trade. I've not met many business owners who love what they do the way Clay does. If you feel so inclined, check out the the company on their socials (very active on Instagram). You can also place orders online for shipping and/or in store pick-up. Bonus: sometimes, if you catch the right day, there are pups at the shop! Since that first purchase, I have now acquired: a custom backpack purse, a custom long wallet, a custom glasses case, the jordan stitch-less pouch, the brooke wallet purse, the mitchell mouse pad, a custom laptop cover, coasters, and many, many candles (Juniper and Cashmere is my personal favorite). To say that I am a fan would be an understatement. Support local - check em out!

We came in late (due to the limited parking) so I missed the name of our instructor but she was friendly and knowledgeable. I believe it's about $55-60 per person and each person gets to make two 7oz candles. Personalized touches Include: scent choice and naming the candle. The scents here are great! It was fun exploring all the different notes and profiles. The class is about an hour and everything is provided. As a "student" you get to melt down your wax, smell/ pick your scents, mix scents, pour wax, mix the candle, add your wick, and label your candle. The process is really fast. The longest part is waiting for your candle to cool down/ dry. We were given an estimate between 3.5-4 hours. So plan your day around the area or come in the following day for pick up. Overall, we had a great time and I would recommend this to anyone who is interested. Perfect for solo date, girls night, date night, etc.

I've never been to a place where I wanted at least one of everything. The best part was how nicely wrapped each item was as part of the service when checking out. The store clerk took great care to show the value. The gentleman running the shop was a pleasure. I truly enjoyed the experience. Even gave a chocolate Hersheys kiss in a small bag along with the stores business card. This is customer service at its finest. I would want my operation running as nicely as this beautiful shop. Truly unique items with a variety of sections. Great for gifts.....and splurging on some self items. I saved the receipt purposely to write a review. It took me some time as I visited in September but have thought of the place over a dozen times since visiting. I do not write reviews often but this place deserves a hands down praise. The cashiers name on the receipt is Sysadmin so I am not sure how to thank the amazing clerk. 9/24/24 11:59 AM. I wish they had a shop like this near me. Pleased to see that I can order online! I will never forget this place, forever burned in my memory. If I am ever back in Houston, I will be back at Bliss on 19th! J. Chapter

It truly feels like a hidden gem. It's also one of the few BBW stores in Houston that I haven't witnessed the constant, brazen shoplifting that has unfortunately become commonplace in retail and especially in this crime ridden city. Combined with the exceptional merchandise and thoughtfully curated inventory, the River Oaks store offers a refined shopping experience that keeps me coming back. I decided to get another scent that I did not order online, as well as trade out one that I had ordered online for something I liked better. They worked with me and were so gracious in allowing me to make my trade out, and I appreciated it. There was a scent that I wanted that this location ran out of, they were kind enough to call the neighboring store for assistance (their Rice Village location) just minutes away. The Rice Village location had what I needed and then some! Something that really impressed me about the Rice Village team was how friendly and warm they were! Their customer service was on 10! Cudos to them! Over all a great experience! Of course, I will be back.

They have an extensive section of cocktail accessories, whiskey glasses, spices, barbecue sauces, candles, hand salves, soaps and leather items, in addition to men's clothing and hats, and many, many other things. Two of my close friends had a housewarming party earlier this weekend and they both are big old fashioned drinkers. I ended up picking up some stainless steel dice shaped whiskey stones and a Oaxacan old fashioned cocktail mix to complement their bar cart which they ended up loving. Whether you have a specific type of item in mind or just want to browse, Manready Mercantile has a huge variety of items that you won't find anywhere else. Aside from their unique items, Manready Mercantile really goes above and beyond to help create an experience that connects the customer with their products. They have a custom hat bar with a variety of patches that can be prepared just to your liking and a candle bar where guests are treated to an old fashioned while making their very own candle to take home. While I haven't done it myself, this seems like a great idea to do with a date, some girlfriends, or even your mom or dad. They also do a great job keeping up with their website if you want to order from the comfort of your couch or get a little preview of current inventory before heading into the store. The staff are all very helpful in describing their products and offering recommendations. Also, check out their instagram account. You can only exchange for an item of equal or greater value. The policy is not easily visible at check-out (it is way on the other side of the register and relatively small), they provide a digital receipt (which you can only view after the fact), and the receipt does not say this. The returns tab is not working on their website. I accidentally bought a Baggu bag in the wrong size because it was stocked with the bags of the size I wanted. I tried to exchange the bag within a few days but they would not let me return for a refund and pointed to their exchange policy which was not easily seen while checking out. Therefore, I wound up purchasing a bag in the size I wanted and purchasing something else to make up the difference in price as they would not refund the difference. They were out of the pattern I wanted in the size I wanted. While this pattern was available elsewhere, since they would not refund, I was stuck with purchasing a pattern I did not like as much from them to use up the store credit. They ignored my advice to move the exchange policy where it could be more easily read by customers while checking out. I will no longer recommend this store to others or shop there myself.
