STRETCHED MY FAVORITE DANCING BOOTS! Put them on a device to work on them that was way bigger than the boot size to re-sole them. Boots that USED TO fit like a glove, now my feet just flop around in! Took them more than 3 weeks to re-sole. Charged $100! read more

Excellent work. Been going there for over 20years. Wife needed her high heels taken down a notch and stretched. Perfect!

Excellent quality and over all very good people. Customer service and quality was excellent. read more

My most favorite Cole Haan's were in dire need of repair. I simply was not ready to part ways with them. Stopped by Great Western Boots on a day off from work and was greeted by the owner. I presented said shoes to him and after an assessment he let me know he could repair. I paid in full, got my ticket and awaited the call from him that they were ready. Beautiful day when I returned to pick up my beloved heels. I was refunded cash as the job didn't require as much work as initially anticipated. Subsequently I used some of that cash to purchase leather cleaning and preservation products. Coming to Houston 30 years ago, I have found it rare to have such honest small businesses to work with, when I do...I'm a customer for life. There are so very many independently owned small businesses in all of our Houston neighborhoods. I encourage you to support yours! read more

I'm a DYI (do-it-yourself) kind of guy whenever and whatever I could repair. But, with my recent bargain hunt at Goodwill store, I have to get a professional help. Lucky me, I found Great Western Boots near my work. It only took a week - my soulless boots transformed to a queen sitting on a throne. The beauty speaks for itself. I had an opportunity to chat with the owner David Santisteban. He started his repair shop 35 years ago and they have been at this location for at least a decade. I also learned that they custom make wallets, boots and leather goods. I came back one day to inquire about my boots and saw how he organized their workload. From the counter, I saw a leatherworker was concentrating on hammering a heel onto a boot. I peeked at the cardboard boxes overhead, which were sorted by day of the week - very good system. The price is so reasonable and I feel like to go out to hunt for more bargain boots. read more

Horrible customer service! I went in there with two pair of shoes and one pair of boots and the guy had a real bad attitude the owner... He was telling me it wasn't going to be much of a fix..acted like it wasn't worth his time... I'll just bring it to someone else down the road if he doesn't want my business... Don't waste your time in going here he's very rude... give your money to someone who is kind and willing to help people! Shoe doctor if anyone needs someone to repair your shoes or boots! read more

Amazing shop that is like a trip back through time. David and his sons are the best in town at hand crafting boots, belts, and vests, and their repair services will keep your leather goods in great working order for many years to come. Unlike those butchers over at Houston Shoe Hospital, these guys actually know about what they are doing and care about their craft! read more

I had two pairs of Luchese that needed some work. One was Shark skin and the other Gator Belly. The shark skin needed to be resolved and the gator belly boots weren't the same width so needed a gap fill. They did a great job. Will definitely go back. read more

I got four pairs of shoes repaired yesterday and am very happy with their work. My first but certainly not last time using their service. The owner was very friendly. They win me over as a loyal customer! read more

I don't usually take the time to write reviews, but I've got to give David a good word. Had a pair of Johnston & Murphy dress shoes broken in and needed a place to replace the worn heal and soles. Thought the shoe repair places near me would be fine, but they had some less than stellar reviews. I was concerned with the store name having a focus on boots, could they do a good job on shoes too? Also, went a little out of my way to go to Great Western Boots. In the end I was very glad I chose them. Had shoes done in 6 days (over Labor Day weekend) as quoted. They fit and feel great! I now have a pair of work shoes with broken in uppers and new heal and sole, got to like that! Thanks David. read more

I put my full quills through a lot of abuse and have had to have them resoled twice. My son spilled syrup all over them and it sat for a few weeks, I thought for sure they were done. I took them to the "hospital" where they told me I could just dye them black. A friend recommended Great Western Boots and I am so glad I took them there. The owner of the shop, David, was up front and honest as to what he may be able to do to repair them. I got them back today and they are like new! The repair was about a third of the cost of my previous repairs and he had them turned around in about a week instead of the 4-6 weeks the "hospital" had them previous times. This is true craftsmanship that is earned over decades of work. I highly recommend you visit him. read more

They do great work at a reasonable price. Have taken boots and shoes there for heel work and total sole replacement (boots) and have done a great job. He was able to fix a pair of boots that I didn't want to part with so I could get another year's worth of wear out them! I highly recommend. read more

I have a pair of expensive boots that i neglected to take care of, sole worn completley down, both heels wore down. I found this shop by luck, not very modern but the workmanship is brilliant. I have used Great Western Boots now for close to 3 years. I was recommended by Cavender's. Service is quick, quality is perfect. Cannot say enough good things about this business and it owner. read more

I came across Great Western Boots by recommendation from Cavender's. I dropped off my boots on a Saturday afternoon to have cleaned/polished. The owner said they would be ready on Monday, 2 hours later I get a call saying the boots are ready. When I picked up the boots they looked fantastic, better than when I originally bought them 2 years ago. I paid $12 which I personally thought was great price for they work they did. I will definitely return and have already told others about this great little shop. read more
