Fun place BUT, don't bring anything valuable don't even bring your phone if it's expensive especially if you know your going to get wasted. Went here last Sunday on gay pride night and it was so packed and dark. I was dancing having fun until somebody told me my book bag was open, checked and noticed my iPhone 7 + was missing. My friends and I are visiting from LA and this sort of behavior would not go unnoticed. I was here on Saturday March 24th and the bartender on the downstairs patio bar at around 4:30am was caught trying to drug my two girlfriends and when we confronted him about it he got very aggressive with me and my friends and yelled at us to "get away from his bar because it's not all about us"... on top of that, he made our drinks then charged me for them and then refused to give me my own drink. I'm sure it would've made sense to tell a security guard but to be honest I don't think they would've done anything keeping in mind that half of the people here are on something other than alcohol at any given time. Probably as non-pretentious as you can get on South Beach. The atmosphere is friendly, welcoming, and very easy going. This is the kind of place you can hang out at the bar and actually talk to people and meet new people. Everyone is so approachable - it really contrasts a lot of the "scene." We were asking to check the bags to show them we have nothing dangerous but they didn't want to check out our bags and they didn't let us go in... very rude... Umm, not eating before a deluge of cocktails was a bad idea... totally hot japanese gogo boy took full advantage of me, and I loved it... $200 later... lost my phone, no one cared to help me or move when i hit the floor in a desperate attempt to find it in a mess of feet and cigarette butts... oh well, didn't expect it either. Called the morning and asked if they found anything and the dude who anwered immediately said, "nope" and hung up before I could leave information. again.. didn't expect much help, but it fucked up my vacation a little... oh and one bartender in a rather lame part of the maze was a complete asshole who had some problem with me, though i was all smiles and dancy and tippin! he ignored me multiple times when i asked to close out my card, then threw it at me after overcharging me. again... what is it about the gay club culture that gives us the dillusional right to be complete queens over absolutely nothing... kindness none the less? Accolades and Boos: I will give some credit to Twist. After they lost power and got "it up" again. We saw dancers with really muscular bodies, several nice rooms (it was like a maze) and hot customers from out of town like us. Locals left much to be desired. I feel like there is something with this club and black folks. I did not like the black male maid in the bathroom passing out towels and lotion. I also hated the fact that there were few black gay icons on the wall -Janet Jackson should be alongside Beyonce. Also, one of the finest strippers was black and he was cast on the sidelines. The doorman was rude and did not card at times. The straight obnoxious female(s) who wanted men to dance like a puppy made the atmosphere weird. Is it a gay club? My group seemed pretty hyped to go here based on their last visit. When we walked in the smoke choked me almost instantly. I will never understand why people feel the need to smoke indoors. The place seemed pretty empty compared to the Ocean Drive strip. Most sections of the club/bar were closed off this time. I'm not sure why. Maybe due to business being slower or renovations. My friends kept telling me about how fun and lively it was when they visited a couple years ago, but it was nowhere near the same as how they remembered it. The gays appear to have moved on. Washington Street all together seems to be suffering. Almost the entire block has been closed down due to some company buying out all the businesses over a year ago. We didn't stay more than 15min and left for another spot and saved the night. read more

This place has become a favorite of my crazy crew. We dance in all the bars and trust Nathan, Mark and Susan all the time with our credit cards. They are all great people. The bathrooms are a mess! Twist? Pretty good name for a twisted phone stealing scam... I placed my phone on the bar and look away for two seconds.. when I look back it's gone.. the only person able to steal it was the bartender. He insisted he hasn't seen it and "I must have misplaced it" I go to my hotel and check the location.. it was still at twist. I check the next morning and it's still at twist. Management and bartenders were extremely rude on the phone so I decided to make a visit to twist.. and they will not let me search the bar and insisted it was stolen. I threaten to file a police report and the bartender said "go ahead and do it!" So once I leave, I stand outside for not even 20 seconds and my friends phone rang... guess it it is.. TWIST saying they just found my phone, wow I find it so strange that it took 30 seconds to find my phone when I threaten to cal police. My partner and I went for vacation to Miami Beach in September 2015. My partner doesn't like gay bars and clubs in general but he loved this place. Very friendly atmosphere, cool go go dancers, different dance floors, different bars. We went there twice and we loved it. P.S. Watch your phone and wallet. This is a gay bar/dance club that is really overhyped. The place is big with different rooms having different music genres, but it doesn't really have a friendly vibe to it. The people seem snobby and the music isn't great. Smoking is allowed inside so if you're not a fan of cigarette smoke, this place isn't for you. I like the diversity of music and rooms this nightclub offers, but what I will say is that the bartender in the room on the top floor, not the two main music rooms where people dance, but the top where there is only a bar, the bartender was rude there. Normally I have an amazing time when I go here. The last time I was there, I was visiting a mutual friend in South Beach and he was allowing me to spend the night at his condo instead of trekking back to Fort Lauderdale that night. We reunited by having a late dinner and opening up a bottle of red wine. I'm a little tipsy (to say the least) and I "know" what his main intention was for me visiting him. Hmmm, what could it be??? Sex. During that time I was going through my own issues of NOT wanting to even touch myself, so why would I even want to touch a creep like him. So, he begins saying harassing comments like "I'm gonna hit that ass tonight!" or "Damn you gotta nice bottie!" "NO!" I replied. "Hell NO!" But then he said, "Let me hit that ass!" Nasty, nasty and more nasty. My ass was out of commission!! No sale. He hops in the shower and puts on his "face" while I continue to drink his cheap ass wine. He gets out and offers me a bottle of water for the walk to Twist. As we're about to leave his apartment he grabs me from behind and says "Let me hit that ass!" while spanking me. I instantly squirt some of the water in his face for protection for myself and my ass. "Ahhhhh!!! My face!!" He quickly jumps back as if he's about to melt like the Wicked Witch that he is. "Oh my God! My face! I'm going to have to re-apply my concealer and make-up now!" I wait and wait until he comes out and says, "I don't want to go to Twist anymore. Some how I guilt him into to taking me there and once we get to the main hall he decides to walk back home, but reassures me to stay out and have fun. So, I'm in Twist alone and feel as if I'm in South Beach alone. However, Twist is a place where you can still have fun even if a sour puss ditches you. It has aleast 5 full bars, 2 floors, lots of hot latin south beach men, a live DJ and a cabana where strippers make a living... Its fun and yes, I had fun without the douche bag! I was talking to a lot of people, socializing and mingling with husband material, cracked out drag queens and buying shots for people. (I'm generous when I'm not around horrid-annoying cry babies) The bartenders are very friendly and cute!! My only concern is that the floor needs to be remodeled mainly because its sloped on the second floor, plus the steps don't have caution signs and (I) a drunk person may trip and/or fall. Plus the two "dance sections" are very small for a traditional club. However, you can still dance and get your groove on while making out with a random Columbian boy who want to take you to his ocean view home, but you tell him you have to make it back to douche bag's condo instead because you're dumb ass left your life there. First very rude getting in the door, second half the place wasn't open, walked out side to get a drink one one the dancers grabs my friend and proceeds to dance on him then try's to man handle him to give him 20$ i saw and heard the whole thing. No one said anything about $ . Then the bartender was overly rude when i asked if i could get 6 shots. Like he didn't have time to make them? Next up on Mediocre Monday (heck, I've been unloading all the pending reviews of all the mediocre places I've been to lately) is Twist! Wooooo! My BF brought us here on a Thursday night so we could have some real fun dancing but we definitely came on the wrong night! Most of the club was empty. Quite a few denizens of the crowd were really, really strange and there were more wannabe thug guys here than I've ever seen in better WeHo clubs back in Los Angeles. Ugh! Fortunately there was no cover. Twist has many rooms with different kinds of music. My BF loves his Top 40 dance music so we mostly hung out in that room. He did not like the music (because he didn't recognize any of the obscure stuff they were playing) and wanted to leave every time we started to dance a bit haha! I just wanted to dance and stay in one room, especially since the other rooms were playing worse music. In one room they were playing poor quality Rave like music and there was a strange burn out zombiehippie dancing his crazy dance there. In the room where they were having Venezuela night they were playing Latino music which I am not really into when I go out and dance and there was a strange skinhead looking guy dancing with himself in front of a mirror haha! Yes, he was checking himself out! Well, at least they gave out free food in the Venezuela room,but one of those free morsels might be what got me really sick the next day! I just might give Twist another chance next time we are in South Beach. However, it is likely that next time we are here I will insist that we go to the gay club on Lincoln Road instead - long walk or not! read more

Drinks are WAY too overpriced!! I'm talking $12+ for 3oz (IF you are lucky) of alcohol and 30 cubes of ice in a very small glass. My phone is bigger than the drinks. Fun atmosphere and location, but only with your time if you are really bored and looking for something to do and throw lots of money at with little result.
