I've returned for another round because this course was such fun and in great shape. Let me say it's better this time, fairways healed after the rains, tee boxes in great shape and greens, while still tough, are impressive. Staff makes the day better, from clubhouse to starter to cart staff, always a great experience. Correction on prior review, golf carts DO have coolers with ice, so bring your water and soda. GPS on carts matches my Garmin, so take that as good news too. If you're lucky, you'll catch an afternoon where smashburgers are grilled to order on the patio, big win! Pace of play runs 4 1/2 hours, very nice. read more

We are so happy we chose Twin Oaks Golf Course in San Marcos as our wedding venue for both our ceremony and reception. The entire property was absolutely beautiful, and each space helped make the day feel special in its own way. The Vista Lawn was a gorgeous setting for our ceremony, the Fireplace Patio was such a warm and inviting space for guests to gather, and the indoor reception space was beautiful and comfortable for celebrating the rest of the evening. Nicole, our venue contact, was incredibly accommodating and helped make our dream day happen. She was so wonderful to work with throughout the process and really made us feel supported when it came to our requests and vision for the day. Our guests had an amazing time, too. We heard so many compliments afterward -- especially about the pasta, which was a huge hit -- and people really loved having multiple beautiful spaces to move between, relax, and connect throughout the day. Extremely Disappointed - Poor Customer Service & No Accountability I've purchased the JC Players Card three years in a row, and until now, I've always had a positive experience. Two weeks ago, I bought this year's card, which includes a coupon book with free rounds--a deal I always look forward to. When I returned to use one of the coupons, I realized the book wasn't in my golf bag, a place I would definitely have placed it. I'm confident the cashier simply forgot to give it to me at the time of purchase. When I brought this to the staff's attention, I was told there was nothing they could do. They can easily check their system--it clearly shows I haven't played any rounds since I bought the card. Everything is digital and trackable. another suggestion is to review camera footage to confirm whether the book was ever handed to me. The coupon book I have now contains zero free rounds. It feels like a scam. I was referred to Jeana Amuco, from Twin Oaks, who I was told could help. Unfortunately, she was dismissive and offered no support--just told me, "we don't replace lost books." That's unacceptable when the issue likely stems from an employee's mistake. I've been a loyal customer, but this experience has left me extremely frustrated. It's disappointing to be treated like this when the situation is so easily verifiable. I hope someone in management will actually take the time to resolve this, because it can be solved if someone cares enough to look into it and work with me. read more

Worst experience ever, showed up Monday morning and it was $85 a round. This course is insanely greedy and stacks T times so close together that it's a ten minute wait on ever T box to hit. By the time your up the group behind you is already on the t box. Miserable experience to have to wait every shot. For $85? Not to mention rock hard fairways with only tight lies, it's like hitting off concrete. What should have been a 3hour round turned into 4 and a half hours of misery entire group couldn't stay focused with all the waiting you just can't find a rhythm here. At a hundred a round course you should walk up to the t box and it should be open especially on a Monday morning. I felt bad because the group behind us came from Massachusetts to just wait all day to hit. Worst experience ever and I'll never be back. Greedy course = lost customer. read more

This is a great course. A little hidden off the beaten track but once you find it, it won't disappoint. It a little tougher than the average course but still really fun and gorgeous. Golf carts are nicely upgraded, charging port, music(can connect via Bluetooth), and course layout/scorecard. Prices for snacks are a little high, Gatorade $4 a bottle and for a bag of jerky and 3 protein bars was $26 (I just paid for it so I'm not sure the breakdown). Definitely a go back to course. Also they are part of the JC club so other JC members get the benefits. read more

Best. Wedding. Ever. We had our wedding at Twin Oaks Golf Course and it was an absolute dream. The venue felt intimate yet spacious enough for our 120 guests, with a beautiful garden area that created the perfect backdrop for our day. We ended up having an all-outdoor wedding, but knowing there was an indoor space for backup gave us peace of mind. The food was delicious--both during the cocktail hour and the main dinner. Working with Nicole and her team was seamless from start to finish. Nicole used to be a planner herself, so she was incredibly knowledgeable and always quick to respond. She connected often with our planner and gave helpful advice whenever we needed it. Nicole went above and beyond to help us keep costs down and was flexible with last-minute changes, even when she didn't have to be. I moved to Carlsbad a few months ago from south Florida and tried a few courses around north county. I keep coming back to Twin Oaks. I love this golf course. It's challenging yet extremely enjoyable. The greens are fast and can be tricky to read, but they run true and seem to hold my approach shots well. The course is also very pretty, with some truly beautiful vistas and changes in elevation. The staff there is super friendly and I'm a huge fan Dave, the starter who is always kind and helpful. Terrible experience!! NOT the place to go for customer service!!! Im sure the course is decent enough, but what an absolute joke that I wasn't able to find out. Im a JC cardholder, which is what brought me to this course, and the pro shop employee Preston refused to let me pay with my JC card because I didn't have the 'voucher book' with it. It's absolutely ridiculous. I purchased a JC card, not a jc 'voucher book', and for.l this course to go out of its way to make sure I couldn't use it is sad and pathetic. It's clearly a game they run to prohibit the use of ur pre-paid JC rounds. This makes the 'card' literally useless. When I purchased my 'card' I was never told I meeded a voucher book me to secure my rounds, and they never.mentioned or requested it when I let them know I was a JC 'CARDHILDER' when booking the round. This is classless and low integrity. Places like this give golf courses a bad rep by trying to milk every dollar and stick it to their the people paying the bills. It's very disappointing, to say the least. There are too many good courses with great staff to support operations like this. read more

I recently attended an event at here and was pleasantly surprised there was a separate event space. The garden was beautiful, perfect for family photos. The food was delicious, especially the mashed potato bar served in martini glasses with all the toppings. Our server was attentive, and one of the reasons I'm writing this is because as a parent, I appreciated that they served my kid first so I could enjoy my meal. Usually, at restaurants, we have to ask our server to do this. I would definitely consider this for an upcoming event space for myself. read more

Been paying here and other JC courses for years and always enjoyed. Even shot my best round here a few years back. But the course plays worse every time since a about a year ago. We played a round last week it was the worst ever, a group of ladies were ahead of us with a beginner having trouble hitting every shot, and a group of guys chasing us hitting balls over our heads, one of them (was told he is the owner of the golf course) even came up telling us to speed up while we were teeing off... no marshals, no beverage cart, a bunch of hooligans. We just had our wedding here this past weekend! It was the best day ever and Nicole and the Weddings at Twin Oaks teams helped bring all of the planning to fruition!! It was so smooth and the service and food and drink were amazing! We also did our golden hour couples photos on the golf course! They lent us a couple golf carts and we had so much fun!! They provided the dance floor on the patio and heat lamps too! It was great! We had such a fun time and our guests raved about the beauty of the property and the delicious food!!! I'll do this review in two parts: First, what I liked about Twin Oaks; then the deficiencies as I experienced on 11/27/20. I liked the course lay out and the greens are super fast. Staff are friendly. Nice putting area. Here are the downsides: inadequate parking, minimalist pro shop, driving range had outdoor carpeting, not mats; while some of the golf carts came with GPS, the carts are old and appear to be beat up. The golfers tear up the fairways and are in bad shape, and the grass is inconsistent. Food selection is minimal; you can order from the GPS unit but the only beverage available through the software is a Bloody Mary!?!?! For the price and experience, I prefer JC's Encinitas Ranch course. read more

We had our reception at the lawn , green every where, tall bushes, a lot of white blooms and a beautiful view to the mountains, perfect sky and perfect sunset, it was absolutely beautiful!! If you are having an outdoor wedding you need to be done by 10pm but Twin Oaks have a ballroom all newly remodeled that you can use and have an after party there, this was a great option for us. Working with the sales manager Nicole was an absolute pleasure. She made everything easy and stress-free, she truly understood our needs and went above and beyond for us. She also worked with the Chef to create the perfect meals for us, I wanted a specific meal and they nailed they got us exactly what we wanted. Food was absolutely delicious all of my guest talked about how great food was and how beautiful the venue was. On the day of the event, all of the servers, bartenders and any other workers were so kind and helpful, Daniel the Banquet Manager did a great job coordinating dinner service, every one got their food in a short period of time, wine service, champagne pouring and cake right after dinner, everything just on time. Twin Oaks is a San Marcos gem! The greenery on the drive leading up to the entrance is full and green. The venue is beautiful and spacious plus has a great view. I have been a JC Resorts member for most of the last 20 or so years. This course has traditionally been in less than ideal shape, particularly many of the fairways due to poor design, etc. In recent months though it is in generally very good shape with terrific greens. Bunkers need some work with uneven amounts of sand. My only real complaint is with the Practice Range. The mats are horrible and need to be replaced with a higher quality mat (grass tees are never available) and they sell balls in very small quantities which feels like a rip off compared to elsewhere. JC has cut number of free range balls in half from 10 to 5 as well. Give me a break! read more

Terrible pace of play before 8am. No marshalls. Management allowing very high handicappers to play back tees and slowing play for everyone behind them. Not the first time we waited on every hole before 8am. Group in front fell behind 2 holes within 5 holes and 4 by 18 and no one did anything. We had multiple groups on tees behind them. Not a way to manage a course. read more
