Sandra and Clay, Californians who have settled on the gorgeous Oregon coast, run a superb country B&B on the banks of the Chetco River, down a bumpy, forested road just outside of Brookings. They prepare delicious dinners (on request) and scrumptious breakfasts, have a wonderfully rustic but elegant room selection, and truly make you feel at home in a place that is so calm, scenic, and clean that you will find it occupying precious space in your storehouse of travel memories. You feel privileged to spend time there. If you like to hike or kayak, or if you just enjoy sitting in front of a crackling firepit, star-gazing at night, sleeping in to the sounds of silence, or hanging out in the front porch, you can go from a high-impact vacation to a go-slow and let-the-earth-pass-you-by experience in an instant. We bought a bottle of Oregon Pinot Noir for dinner, which consisted of Clay's grilled wild salmon and Sandra's excellent vegetables, sides, and desert. Had we not been on a cross-country road trip and due in Eureka, CA the next day, we would have lingered. It was equipped with linens/blankets, cookware/utensils, a BBQ, and a cozy fireplace. We brought our dog so it was great that the deck and front yard were fenced in. Deer came onto the property! We enjoyed our stay immensely and are sure to use to this vacation rental next time we are in Gold Beach.

To be blunt, the house was filthy with a large list of issues. We wanted out the first day but there was nothing available anywhere on that weekend. We therefore requested a full refund of the amounts paid, nearly $2000. As of this posting, the refund has not come through even though they said is would be coming. Here is a partial list of what we encountered. Oven did not work. Dishwasher did not work and smelled like a sewer. We were told to take the dishes two flights downstairs to wash them in a sink. Kitchen sink did not drain and smelled like sewer. Rodent poop on every counter in every room. Toilets were filthy with pubic hair and dirt. Spiders and cobwebs virtually everywhere. No internet as advertised. No TV as advertised. Hot tub was half full and smelled moldy. Damage to many areas in the house including walls and floors. The couch looked like dogs ripped it up. No garbage can or any way to dispose of garbage. We have many photos that document our findings. The elderly ladies who run the Wild Coast Vacations run a scam and should be shut down permanently.

I caught the neighbor from the right watching me one morning on the deck. Cleaned house before checkout- started dishwasher, gathered linens, washed and folded just about every towel and even gathered all the trash and consolidated it and still got a bad "guest" review. Would not recommend as the experience was weird, house was extremely small, neighbors are rude and nosy, and there is absolutely nothing that makes this a beach house. The only good thing about this house are the appliances.

We have been planning a road trip to the top of CA for a few months. We found this place on a yelp…read morereview and just went for it. I am SO glad we did!! We had a 12 hour drive ahead of us and when we arrived it was just perfect. We have a family of 5, with 3 teenagers. We had the most amazing time here. The Jedediah Redwood State Park is so close, we stayed 4 nights in cabin #19. The loft had a queen, twin & a chair that folded into a sleeping pad. The couch was very comfy, the cabin is remodeled and looks so cute. Only two things that need improvement: the sand toys (my boy's complaints, not mine) haha and the bedroom door is a pocket door that does NOT lock lol. So just beware :) This location had a side ocean view that was really beautiful but you can't see the sunset. But Just a walk to the really nice stairs to the beach, super close and watch from there. This cabin is lined with trees in the back, and had two decks. The jacuzzi was PERFECT and this location is private compared to others. Everyone was so nice and the beach was so quiet and private. It's close to drive into Oregon to grab things you may need. We cooked a few nights but unfortunately you can't BBQ, but there were plenty of options close by. We liked Crescent City & Brookings. The views are spectacular all the way up. We will be back and would like to stay even longer next time and get more family to come. It's worth the drive to truly see what beauty CA has to offer.

Oregon Coast Vacation Rentals (OCVR) offers a variety of ocean front or ocean view homes for rent…read more Our contact was Lidia Donnelly, the owner of OCVR, who guided us to a gorgeous ocean front home with spectacular ocean views at a resonable price. First, dealing with Lidia was a pleasure. She listened to our needs and found us the perfect house. We were suprised to find welcoming flowers among other amenities when we arrived. The house we stayed in, Bigadune, is beautiful with parallel widows providing a panoramic view of the ocean. It has a private walkway to the beach, which gave us easy access. It also has it's own garage, useful for rainy days. We were really happy to find a spacious kitchen completey stocked with all sorts of kitchen utensils. In short it was a great place to stay. Lidia owns a ranch up the Rogue River, and has houses on her ranch for rent. If you're interested in hiking this would be a good place to go. While we didn't hike, that area in the moutains up river was a beautiful place to see, and the ranch has a lot of wildlife to see.
