I'm getting married in June of 2013 and have booked Twelve Acres for my reception and am very excited. There are numerous options for weddings, including inside rooms, outdoor pavilion and a variety of food choices. In addition to functions, I've went to brunch at the facility a number of times and have never been disappointed. The brunch features stations with breakfast, lunch and dessert foods. When I heard my senior class was having our annual class cook out at Twelve Acres and not at our school, I was initially excited. Boy, was I misguided. When I arrived, my first impression was that the place was old and dated. The banquet space my class was in had carpeted floors and striped wallpaper. The wallpaper, while ugly, was not as disgusting as the carpet. Carpet does not belong in dining spaces, and this carpet in particular was gross. On top of that, the white table cloths were already visibly dirty when I first sat down and, likewise, the chairs were also kind of dirty. The food was beyond disgusting. We were served buffet style, and had a choice of coleslaw, corn on the cob, barbecue chicken, cheese burgers, and hot dogs. I didn't try the coleslaw because I don't really like it, but the corn on the cob was submerged in this bath of it's own juices. Ew. The chicken looked cheap and gross from the get go, and there was no way I was going to put it in my mouth. There were only cheeseburgers, and no burgers without cheese, which I found frustrating because I hate cheeseburgers. However, this was not such a huge disappointment as the meat was criminally overcooked, had no seasoning what so ever, and might have actually been worse than public school cafeteria meat. Not surprisingly, I only ate a few bites of my cheeseburger, despite being extremely hungry. The only edible aspect of the meal were the hot dogs and, even then, they weren't very good. While the food was bad, the service was equally horrible. First of all, our drink options were lemonade or iced tea, no water. Secondly, they were served via two plastic water cooler that were positioned on the bar. Even though they were in a self serve container, we couldn't get our own drinks; an old guy behind the bar poured the drinks en masse throughout the evening. Once we had finished eating, the process of clearing plates was just weird. Instead of taking a few plates back at once, the waitresses set up a tray as the designated food dump. The waitresses would take one or two plates, dump the half eaten school food onto the tray, do God knows what with the plates, and then come back and repeat. This took forever, and the waitresses would jump around with tables. It was annoying that it took so long, and the food dump trays were disgusting. All in all, this place is just gross. The food is gross, the space is gross, everything is gross. While Twelve Acres might be a good option of you have to feed a large group of people for cheap, but don't be surprised if said people don't come to your future events. read more

I went here for a school banquet. I really enjoyed it! When you come I. The staff was great. The food was a bit soggy but fine. Chicken was good. The WiFi can be a bit spotty and if you have AT&T, service here is excellent. The lights here flicker for some unknown reason. The bathroom was clean. There are 2 main inside dining rooms with dividers in each room. Plates were mostly clean. Has heating and Air conditioners (central). I would come here again for a event. read more

My husband and I had our dream wedding here. The food was good, the evening went SO smoothly, the staff were so helpful and friendly and all of our guests had a great time. One server in particular--I wish I remembered his name--was extremely thorough and considerate with my and several of my guests' dietary restrictions. Attended an awards luncheon at Twelve Acres. Food was very tasty, served hot, and service was outstanding. When we left, my mother forgot her "doggie bag" (box) and telephoned when she realized her oversight. The staff wrapped her box in plastic wrap and refridgerated it for her until she could arrive the next day to collect it. That was very nice of them and she was pleased. I just had my wedding reception at 12 acres. It is beautiful and reasonably priced. However, I had to call repeatedly to schedule my three month appointment. Because they did not return my calls. They called me on my wedding day demanding to be paid and hung up on me. When I expressed my frustration about the phone call during the reception, the manager argued with me instead of apologizing. They could not keep track of my final head count, which I gave them both verbally and written. They forgot to make sure my entire head table had a champagne toast. Overall, I think they did a good job but some of the negatives overpowered the positives. Some advice to them would be to be patient with a bride on her wedding day and don't hang up on her. Apologize even if you don't believe anything was wrong. And make sure the head table has everything they need. read more

The chicken soup they serve at banquets is my favorite part. It seems this place is family owned and everyone treats you like family when you're here. I often come with older groups or folks with many different disabilities (walkers, wheelchairs, power chairs, etc) and they are nothing short of prepared and accommodating. They have great sangria and nothing beats the nice cup of coffee at the end of the tasty dinner I'm always treated to. A true Rhode Island staple. read more

I had my baby shower here awhile back. I had to go there a couple months in advance to sit down and go over all the details.. I was told that I was going to have a "beautiful dessert table". I had to pay PER PERSON for this (which is ok) The woman said that she would do all the desserts on different tiers and it would cover the table. I paid over 100 for the dessert table itself.. I got there and they had a dessert platter from either BJs or Stop and shop. There wasn't even enough for each of my guest.. It was embarrassing to say the least. I had to pay for something that I could have done myself.. BUT they don't allow you to bring your own desserts. Go figure right? Also, there was a death in my fiancé's family the week of and we called in and told them that they were going to PA to join the family. They didn't do anything to reimburse or even sensitive to the fact. But still had enough food for the amount of people that would have came. They threw out all of the food without saying a word to me, when I wanted to donate it to a homeless shelter because of how much was left. The whole thing was a disaster. The service was horrible and they set very high expectations for crap results. I'm highly disgusted that I paid nearly 2000 for horrible service and inconsiderate management.. they said "we can take off 2 plates"... it was a beautiful place. It's a shame. I just had my wedding here so while this is all nice and fresh in my mind I would just like to share with all of you exactly what I think of this establishment. My initial meeting was with one of the owners of Twelve Acres where we went over all the wedding details and signed a contract. I had called a couple time over the next 2 months with some questions (asking to speak with one of the 2 owners). I kept being told that they were unavailable that day until one day when I stopped in there and learned that the owners were no longer in charge of the venue. Thanks so much for NOT telling me! Once I learned who was now in charge I started talking to them about things I wanted to do for the wedding. We non stop had conflicting issues between what we agreed upon with the original owners vs the new people in charge. Examples include but are not limited to: We were supposed to get any colored napkins we wanted at no cost; we were then told "No, we don't do that here, they do have a cost, who told you that"...We were told we had to decorate the sweetheart table and all the other tables ourselves. So we went out and bought tulle and lights for the head tables. When we stopped at the venue to check out how it would look, one of the new people in charge told us that "we provide lace skirts for the tables and they come with lights on them" NOPE, NOT WHAT WE WERE TOLD YET AGAIN! So we just wasted money on that tulle, terrific! We can have an aisle runner for the outside ceremony, wonderful, oh wait, what's that, no we can't have an aisle runner. NOT what we were originally told, AGAIN! We were trying to figure out our seating chart and were told that the tables needed even number seating so I tried to work with that or else there would have been an additional charge added. Come to find out we did not need even numbers. Yet again, another MISUNDERSTANDING/MISCOMMUNICATION! I was originally told me and my husband could get whatever we wanted with our food at no additional charge, so I had mentioned I wanted to add something to my food and guess what, the new person in charge wanted to charge me for it! Then the day of the wedding...We had to set up outside ourselves which was fine, BUT my groomsmen did not belong cleaning up cigarette butts and other garbage that was circulating outside yet they had to do that!! Good thing the groomsmen were there, they had to have changed made in the reception room made to our centerpieces. They did not put them all up correctly to what we provided in the giant pictures that we gave them. I was also assured that our name finders which were on frames would be put on easles so that they did not bend (guess what, NO easles, they were just put on a table where only half of each frame was actually on the table and the other half was off causing the frame to bend). Also, after the ceremony we were supposed to have a waiter that was serving the hor d'oeuvres. He stood in one spot having everyone come to him in the wedding party rather than walking around serving the food. He never once approached me or my husband to offer us any food. I didn't even no he was out there for some time. Someone in our wedding party had to bring food over to us! We were originally concerned about it being warm in the building when we would stop in there but we were assured that the AC's only go on when the room is in use. WELL nobody informed us that the AC's were broken the day of our wedding. Our room was about a million degrees or to be a little more accurate 87degrees. Guests were complaining about how hot it was in the room as well as our vendors, our photo booth attendants, the bartender and so on. Nobody working there ever even apologized or tried to accommodate us in any other way (some fans would have been terrific). Then our food came out, while we were walking around making sure that everyone was enjoying their food we came to a general consensus that most people's steaks were either bloody red or completely dried out, the vegetables exceeded al dente, the rolls were hard, the chicken fingers for the kids looked processed ($17 well spent on the food for the kids right?), the shrimps were not cleaned. But I do have to say the chicken kiev was marvelous! The next day when we stopped in to pick something up my mother was asked how everything went. My mom told them that we made the best of the situation since we were stuck in a room were the AC's were not working! They had nothing to say to my mom, not an apology, just radio silence. Luckily I have family and friends that made the best of a bad situation. But shame on Twelve Acres! I would not recommend them to anyone, you get what you pay for. Unfortunately we have a family member who had also booked with Twelve Acres because let's face it, nobody can beat their prices for the venue. Sadly, they are also having issues with the venue already because one person gives them information and then another person gives them completely conflicting information. read more

This facility had the most pleasant coat check lady...that is where the good comments end. The food was definitely sub-par; the salad was good but it was pre-dressed, which reminds me of 80s style cafeteria food; the drinks were expensive and made completely wrong; and I did not like being told I could not have a drink (non alchoholic) with my dinner other than water. This was completely unacceptable. It was also very offensive and unprofessional when the bartender placed his hand on my husband's shoulder (quite aggressively) and told him he would be back to make his drink, proceeding to leave the bar and speak with a seemingly inexperienced DJ. The staff was presumptuous and rude. I did have a wonderful night; unfortunately for 12 Acres it was because of my friends -- not the restaurant. Attended my wife's company Christmas party and enjoyed every minute of it.. Food was great and dj very enjoyable.

Had my daughters wedding there. Comments about the food were "good", "OK" "not bad"...I was told they had a vegetarian lasagne for me, when it came to the table it was a lump of plain lasagne noodles all stuck together with a few pieces of carrot on it, no red or cream sauce. I thought it was a mistake so I told the waitress, she shrugged her shoulders at me and said thats they way they make it. Suppose to be an Italian restaurant-they also own another Italian restaurant in Pawtucket or Attleboro. The next day I called the place and left my number two times, no one called me back, finally I caught someone who didn't care at all and said then don't come back. Can you believe this, after spending thousands of dollars for a wedding. DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID AND GO THERE. read more

The absolute worst place ever. I was a guest at a wedding here. When we arrived, the table was missing a chair and an entire place setting. It took a good thirty minutes for them to figure out how to fix it. When you pay for a drink with a credit card, they hold your card. I asked for mine back, since I knew I would only have one drink (and another for my date) and remembering to grab my card back four hours later would be near impossible. They refused to give me back my card, and with no surprise, I forgot it. I went back to get it the next day, checked my account, and was charged $34.00. I should have been charged $11. When I called to find a solution to this problem, my card "was not found." The next day, I received an email telling me that I bought 4 drinks and left a $5.00 tip. Super unprofessional. I'm sorry, but if I did not even sign a slip, how could I have possibly left a tip?? Twelve Acres really needed to steal $23.00? read more

I'd like to start off by saying that I had never been to Twelve Acres prior to this past weekend and had neither heard anything good or bad about the spot. What I witnessed though - I think all should know prior to booking this location if interested. First, the building was not properly ventilated and was having issues with their AC. There was a younger crowd at my event - but a class reunion across the hall for which I witnessed several seniors having to go outside to cool off/leave their reunion early. What a shame. Secondly - I witnessed several waitstaff being very stern with guests and telling them to "move". This occurred twice. The food served was ok but clearly frozen foods defrosted. My brother was completely skipped during the soup course...not good. Lastly, the bathrooms were extremely "unkept". When processing the event and what I saw wrong (there's much more) I felt it necessary to review online for others. Come to find out the bride of the wedding I attended this past weekend had ALREADY reviewed it with much more found wrong. This is so sad to hear. I will be attending another event at Twelve Acres next summer and hope things are running more smoothly by then. read more
