They have a huge balcony that overlooks the river and a ground level patio that walks right out to the river boardwalk. We were able to enjoy Providence's Water Fire with private, front row seats. It was a priceless experience Despite all of that, the interior spaces are very, very small and oddly shaped, making it very hard to move during an event. It also makes it very difficult for the staff to maneuver in between tables, causing a major traffic jam when it comes to meal time. I'm not sure what happened when we were there, but there were MAJOR delays and mix ups during our event. So much so that the wait staff actually forgot to serve our entire table. By the time the realized this, they served us ice cold food that was over cooked, over salted, and actually inedible. The hosts of our event tried to correct it by offering to comp our table a round of drinks. But at that point we were all so disappointed and turned off by the entire experience that we all decided to leave two hours before the end of the event. Skyline at Waterplace has the potential to be incredible. But until they make some major changes, it's not a place I can recommend.

Roger Williams park is such a beautiful place for Rhode Islanders to enjoy and I think many times…read morethat I have just taken it for granted. When I was a teacher we brought a whole team of students here to enjoy Rhode Island's beautiful park with its many parts and pieces and nooks and crannies and water and fountains and hills and picnic areas including the carousel. There's just so much to see and do here and I am truly grateful for the spot. I came through the other day and I decided to look up the history of the park because I was not really familiar with it. I knew that it was named after Roger Williams, a founder of Rhode Island but I didn't really know much more than that. So I did my homework. The land for the park was a gift to the people of Providence in 1872, donated in the will of Betsey Williams, the last descendant of Roger Williams to inherit his land. It had been the family farm and was the last of the original land granted to Roger Williams in 1638 by Canonicus, chief of the Narragansett tribe. The family farmhouse was built in 1773 and is now known as the Betsey Williams Cottage; the cottage and the Williams family burial ground are within the park. The original gift consisted of about 100 acres. Additional land to the south was purchased in 1891 at a cost of $359,000, consisting mostly of unimproved land that was covered with woods and ponds; it brought the total area of the park to about 400 acres. New England is an amazing place to live. We are so rich in history of the beginnings of the United States and I think sometimes I just accept it but I've really started to look more since the pandemic and being stuck in the house so much. We have taken to going on rides around the state to look at the landscape just to entertain ourselves. It has made me much more appreciative of what we have here. If you haven't been to Roger Williams Park then you really need to go. It is a gem within the city of Providence.

Located in the midst of Roger Williams Park, this building features a brick exterior and verandas adorned with Ionic columns, semi-circular porticos and railings with turned balusters in the, Colonial Revival architectural style of the late nineteenth century. The interior walls of the first floor are constructed of hand-finished wood panels, the original floors are maple, and details such as beveled mirrors and an emerald green tiled fireplace lend a formal and elegant air to the surroundings. Upstairs, the Ballroom was used in the old days for special social events, especially during the '30's and '40's. That is where our event was held and it was a really roomy space. Loved the well kept hardwood floors and the plaster friezes and frescoes of cherubs and musical instruments that adorn the 20-foot ceilings. This grand room, with its birch floors, is painted in warm, rosy tones to evoke a sense of well being, a priority during the "Gay Nineties". At night, it is nicely lit up.

The cocktail menu looked great but I didn't bother ordering a cocktail and instead asked what kind of white wine he had and then he proceeded to tell me all wine is wet (???) and then spent 5 minutes trying to find Sauvignon blanc and came back with Pinot Grigio. Which is exactly why I asked what he had so I didn't have to wait any longer I'm excited to come back for other events there and hopefully get in the better bartender line!

Their table setup is beautiful, outdoor greenery stunning and inviting, and atmosphere homey. For each private event, you are accompanied by efficient and accommodating staff, full of smiles and pleasant conversation. Valet parks all cars. The food here is delicious! At the bridal shower guests indulged in sangria and a multitude of appetizers including crab cakes, bruschetta, a large fruit plate, and plentiful antipasto salad, amongst other items. The rehearsal dinner brought full glasses of red and white wines, a full cheese and cracker platter, chicken marsala, fish, and filet mignon. Everything was tasty! We had 12 tables set up for guests, cake table with huge backdrop, plenty of space for food and drinks, and we had enough of space for a little mini bar where the adults can grab their beverages.
