Would give 0 stars if I could. I'm EXTREMELY hesitant to give any place a bad review. I try to avoid it at all costs. However, in this case it simply cannot be avoided. We decided to give Tuxedo Pet Lodge's grooming a try because they're very close to our place, had great reviews, and our current groomer was booked solid until the end of April.
We brought our two dogs in (A Golden Retriever and a terrier mix). The Terrier needed a de-shedding bath and nail clipping, and the Golden needed a haircut, de-shedding bath and nail clipping. When dropping the dogs off, the person working at the front desk was very unfriendly, which, while not the best first impression, is not the reason for this bad review.
After 2 hours, we received a call from the groomer, Cathy, who informed us that they had lost power, and they were unable to give our Golden Retriever a bath. She told us they had done his haircut, and that he was "much better" than he was previously, and that we could "take him back another time" for the bath (for an additional charge). She also told us they have a generator, but she "didn't want to do too much" as she had recently had surgery. She charged us full price for what was done. In addition, she told us she had begun clipping the terrier's nails, but did not clip all of them because she didn't want to stress him out.
When my wife picked up our dogs, the one who was trimmed and not bathed was barely trimmed and still had matting behind his ears, and the one who was bathed was still soaking wet, and then had to be brought out in the cold weather. I understand that the power went out, but if you have a generator and "don't want to use it because you can't do too much right now" then you should not be accepting new pets. We would have happily found a different groomer to bring them to if we were told this upfront when we first made the appointment.
Now, after paying over $100 for this half-completed job, we will have to find another groomer that will be able to complete the rest of it for us and pay even more. In the future, we will be avoiding this business at all costs. read more
