Absolutely a great place to go and have some good Italian food. The owner Kurt is very nice and personable as he will come by and talk to you and ask how everything was. On this particular visit I tried the spicy penne Rustica which is full of different kinds of meat as in Chicken, Sausage, and Shrimp with some green peppers added in for some extra flavor. This dish is covered with a spicy Alfredo sauce that is really very delicious but not overly spicy so even the ones that don't like spicy food could handle this. You also get a bread basket with a fresh prepared bread and olive oil. All the sauces are made fresh and in house. Then comes the dessert which are also made fresh in house a must try is the triple chocolate cake. Its a rich chocolate cake layered with chocolate mousse and then covered with a chocolate syrup and served with vanilla ice cream. This dessert is so decadent that it will literally melt in your mouth. Worth a drive to the thriving town of Buckner Missouri to give this place a try. read more

On a random road trip, we came across Tusconos and decided to stop in for lunch. There was no wait, we were seated immediately. I ordered spaghetti carbonara, he got chicken parmesan with a side of penne a la vodka. First of all, they give you bread. It's crusty and delicious and comes with an oil and vinegar dipping sauce. Don't eat too much! The food portions are big, I took home nearly half! I can't complain about the food-it was on par with the other Italian food I have had out in the Midwest. It was pretty ok. But I like pretty ok. So i say this is a good spot to try if you like cheesy carby saucy food. Which I do. read more

We went in on a Saturday night for my mom's 75th birthday. We tried to call ahead for reservations, but they do t take them. When we arrived we had a 30 min wait. We waited in our car as there is no wait area inside. They called us when our table was ready. When we were seated, they seated us is a beautiful and quaint little private room. The seating area was the best part of our experience! The wait staff was helpful and polite, but the food in my opinion was subpar. When I told the wait staff that it was my mom's 75th bday, they said "happy birthday" but didn't offer anything special. The chicken Marsala was over cooked and the bread served before the meal was not warm and seems kind of cheap. In addition, the food took almost an hour from ordering to being served. We didn't mind the wait so much as we were enjoying each other's company in our private little space. Not sure it's worth it for me to drive all the way to Buckner for average Italian food. I have friends that swear that I must have gone on an "off" night which is entirely possible. If I go back I will try a less busy time and I will definitely request the private seating! read more

I recommend everything, but my favorites are the Speghetti w/ meat sauce, greek pasta, Tusconos pasta with roasted red pepper sauce w/chicken, and sausage pizza, the Italian sausage they put on their pizza is not like the other restaurants (which I don't like) this sausage seems almost homemade, you can tell it is a high quality product. Service is always friendly, they are busier on the weekends (understandably) but the staff does their best to make sure you have a good experience, if there is an issue they are really quick to fix it/ or make sure you are happy. Definitely worth a try! if you are in the mood for a drink they have a good cocktail list and cute bar, and the deserts are amazing, especially the chocolate cake, bread pudding (no raisins/ chocolate chips instead) and awesome cannolis! read more

Been here a couple of times. Foods always been good no big complaints. I haven't wrote a review until now! Went the other week and had the best martini ever. Lavender Martini. I asked the waiter for his opinion on two drinks and he was like how about this one? So I said yes and was so glad I did. I wish I got the waiters name. But he was super attentive, was so helpful. My suggestion is get there as early as possible for dinner. It was empty when we got there right at 5, but at 7 it was packed. Tons of people waiting to even be sat down. What a hidden gem, while in town visiting family for the holidays my sister (this is her current) favorite spot) suggested we eat here for dinner and I am so glad she did. I struggle with eating pasta so I was reluctant but was glad that I was overruled by the others. We had a large group of 12 on a snowy evening, the staff was terrific and accommodating and the food was exceptional. With a large group we had a little bit of everything from pizza to pasta, everyone LOVED their food. Next time we are in KC, we will visit again and have already recommended this to others. Normally love this place, but the last time we went we had some troubles with our food, two meals were missing shrimp, so they brought it out in a cup and asked the first person to scoop out what they wanted and the rest would go to the other person (very bizarre tactic, especially during covid)- flies were rough inside, actually had a dead fly in a Bloody Mary, one of our dinners came out so late that everyone else was already done eating- our server was great, but overall experience went downhill. I sent an email to management following explaining the scenario and was only told they would discuss with their staff. We were celebrating a couple birthdays there and it was just a bad experience, most likely will not return after just being brushed away that night and after emailing my concerns. read more

A great establishment for Italian food. It was recommended to us by a friend who traveled through Buckner for work. Our party was seated immediately and our server was attentive and friendly. The food was fantastic and the portion sizes were huge. We tried the grilled salmon salad, the chicken broccoli alfredo, and the fettuccine alfredo with chicken. Everyone loved what they ordered. It is evident that the owners care about their customers and want to leave a good lasting impression. The pizza looked really good too so you wouldn't go wrong ordering one there. The Italian sausage tasted like hamburger plus the veggies are so thin once baked they are tasteless the sauce was so light I could taste it. My friend had a regular pizza and she loved it. We've been hearing a lot of good things about this place lately. After trying it last night, I'd say it is solid but not spectacular -- Olive Garden quality or slightly better. To be fair, members of my party who had the lasagna and Greek pasta loved it. I had the chicken pasta in mushroom sauce, and it was flavorful with a good balance of ingredients -- the mushrooms, shaved Parmesan cheese, and chicken worked great together. However, I thought it was served to me a bit on the cool side temperature-wise. My wife ordered the chicken marsala, and while it had an interesting wine flavor and a bit of a spicy kick, her chicken was not overly flavorful and the sauce was more oily than creamy, which we both thought would have been better. I will also say that the bread did not blow me away at the beginning of the meal. Somehow it did not have quite the right bite to it, and the flavor was a little off too. For the area, I'd definitely say the place is worth trying out. If I go back, I'll probably try out the wood-fired pizzas! read more

We have ate here about four times and the food has been wonderful each time. The service is also good although a time or two we was left feeling a bit rushed. Update- Tuscano's has now become one of our favorite places to go. Food is always fresh and good. This is real food made with real ingredients and at an affordable price. read more

I pretty much got enough food for 2-3 people for only $10. Super affordable and delicious. Everyone is extremely friendly and the service is good. Vegetarian friendly as well (although I'm sure they think we're weird) I got the pizza pasta with no meat and it was great. read more

My husband and I love Italian food, so when a friend told us about Tuscono's, we made the drive from Kansas City to give it a try. The restaurant is in the old post office, and they've done a nice job of keeping the ambience with the original ceiling and walls and a hardwood floor of the period. The seating area is spacious and filled with light from the huge front windows looking out onto Buckner's main street. Our server was Leslie, who was VERY attentive and efficient; we were trying to make a matinee showing of a movie in Independence, and she made sure that we were able to order quickly and still have time to enjoy our lunch. I had the muffuletta sandwich and a house salad, and my husband had the calzone with mushrooms and Italian sausage. Everything was tasty and very fresh, with ample but not overwhelming portion sizes. Pretty good pizza! The picada was excellent. Bread is tasty has a certain flavor of olive oil. The restaurant is nice. Everyone is friendly. Fast seating. Water bottle on the table. Acoustics and lighting need some work. I overheard the manager(?) saying absolutely everything is made fresh daily front the sauce to the dough and the veggies are fresh. 10/4/19 6:55 pm. Group of 8 come in are told 20 minutes so sat in bar lounge kinda busy. That time passes ask again 5 more minutes. That time passes same host as before comes 3rd time to say 4 to5 more minutes after that time passes I go to ask about table to find 4 host talking about un work related items oh yeah it's ready. I wave my group on and ask to talk to owner it's now 7:35 and getting empty. The owner comes over tell him about our wait and ask to get water for the kids. He apologized and says he will take care of it. A few minutes pass and he comes back with no water and says I've pulled the cameras and you have been here about 5 minutes. Feeling now like I've robbed the place by telling him about our wait and asking for water for the kids I explained I'd been in the establishment longer then that. 15 minutes after I asked the owner for water it finally came from our server who was good. From the time we came in to the time we left was about 2 hours and probably should have been half of that but don't take my word on it ask the owner to pull the cameras! WOW read more

I think the 3 star rating is mostly due to the fact that I set too high of expectations going into this place. I'm a huge fan of Carraba's and Cafe Verona and mistakenly thought I was going somewhere similar. Therefore, that's my fault and I should have came with more of an open mind. We went at 6:30 on a Wednesday evening and the place was busy with 4-5 couples also waiting to be seating. No hostess in sight for several minutes. Finally she appeared and we were sat in just a few minutes. (Huge Pet Peeve: cleaning seats with a wet rag right before you're seated. Eww) Our waitress was extremely friendly and the best part of our experience. We both ordered an adult beverage, but weren't given any water. After 25 min we inquired about the bread and dipping sauce we had read about on other reviews and saw at other tables. She informed us that they are not allowed to bring it unless it's requested! No, no, and NO is all I have to say to that. This is just a sad move to save money I guess but it really just lowers the class of the place. Plus the spices in the oil were very sparse so it was almost all oil. First star gone. After 65 minutes our sandwich and entree salad arrived but the salad was wrong and we didn't have any interest in waiting again. Second star gone. I imagine the food here is good as many people say, but we just had a struggle trying to get some of it. I was also confused that they have fried green beans, corn nuggets, meat loaf and philly's with Cheez Whiz on the menu at an Italian restaurant. Bizarre to say the least. I can't help but wonder if they're trying to do too much and that adds to the wait time.
