I've been here a few times. I've really enjoyed it and the food is delicious. The service is wonderful and they always make sure you have everything you could want. The ambiance on the bar side is a bit quieter and there is also a patio you can enjoy while you eat. I noticed some changes the last couple of times I've been there and guess I'll go ahead and write about them. The food is still very very good but the portion sizes have shrunk a bit. The thick slices of warm bread that used to come to the table have been replaced with thin slices that don't taste nearly as freshly baked. My Sicilian iced tea seem to have more sweet-and-sour mix in it than it used to, but it was still okay. The prices are on the higher side of reasonable. Still like Toscano's and the food is good. Get there earlier or be prepared to have a wait. read more

My family loves a good Italian restaurant and BOTH of our last 2 "go-to" places have now either closed or changed hands (and is no longer good). Dad's requirement to call a place good is that it reminds him of his mom's cooking. We visited Toscono's in Buckner recently and, while it's not grandma's, it's close.. The prices are a bit high, a family of 4 should expect to spend about $120 without alcohol, but the food is pretty good. It's no Cafe Italia, but is good if you are in the area. My dad had the shrimp Alfredo, mom got lasagna, and I got penne in meat sauce. We also ordered a 4 meat pizza to go so we could try their wood fired pizza (forgot to take a pic of it when we got it at the end of the meal). The ambiance is nice, quiet and clean. There is a small private room you can reserve, well appointed restrooms that are clean, "Sal" over looks the wood-fired stove which you can view from the main dining area, and a bar room with TVs that are not turned up so loud they bother the diners in the main room. Lovely art prints hang on the wall, as well as an original painting that is beautiful. The storefront is easy to find, and the outdoor space has a fountain that provides a nice backdrop and sound of bubbling water. They start you off with bread and seasoned oil, the food arrived in a reasonable amount of time, and we all enjoyed our food during the meal. The pizza though, was by far my favorite thing- it was old world Italian style, made in the wood fired oven, and was amazing!!! I'm so glad we decided to order one to go! Service was excellent, even when it started getting busy earlier than they expected, leaving their one server to cover all of the open tables in 2 rooms. Yes, it is amazing, our family eats there on a regular basis for 8 yrs. We have a pretty good drive from Pleasant Hill to the restaurant, well worth the time. Awesome food, salads are great, pasta is great. Lasagna is my favorite. I do enjoy their cauliflower pizza as well. Awesome hospitality great wine and enjoy every minute. read more

When I first moved to Missouri, I got insurance through AAA in Lee's summit and I was recommended by the agent who signed me up to check out Toscano's in Buckner. I was told it's one of the best Italian spots in town. I added it to my bookmark list and thought last Friday it was time to go check it out. I was not disappointed to say the least. Well, one item could've been better but overall everything was fantastic. From Anita our server to the owner Kurt. The deep fried artichoke hearts did not work well together. Personally, I think they should've had some kind of creamy sauce mixed inside of them so they would've been softer and every bite would have been as much as you wanted. Does that make sense? You took a bite, and the whole artichoke dip would slip out of the casing of the deep fried goodness... Just to give a shout out to the owner. He walked around table to table, asking about how their food was how their experience was, and just got to know the people. I thought that was really cool. I've worked in restaurants before I started working in utilities, and I know what makes good customer service shine. This man has it. One day I plan on opening up my own restaurant when I retire, and what he does is what I want to do. To be that guy who gives the guests attention. Anyways, other than Kurt Anita, our server was attentive... She was always there when we needed something, always offering refills. She gave us great recommendations starting with a full flavored wine, and one thing I do love about Anita is she recommended something and said not to eat something. Yes some of you might say, "you can't say not to eat something at a restaurant." I disagree. This is something I did when I was a server and everybody wanted to hear those kind of comments. Most of all we all don't have the same taste buds and some things aren't as good as other items. The restaurant was clean, I love the vibe. I love how all three of the rooms were all put together for one big restaurant. They were old buildings on the downtown over in Buckner. Don't hold me to that I could be wrong... But regardless, it was really neat. I felt like I was in an authentic Italian restaurant, the hustle and bustle the wine bottles on the wall... The bar....and don't get me started on the food. Well, I will... The food was awesome. My bacon, chicken, chipotle pasta had so much flavor. my wife's chicken Spiedini was packed with flavor as well. I only had one bite, but I did enjoy it and the presentation looked phenomenal. All plates were perfectly balanced with more meat and toppings than actual pasta. Which I think is top-notch. Everything came out, and the marinara sauce was flavorful and thick! We finished it off with a chocolate and vanilla cannoli and this I don't have much experience with. I did have a cannoli out in Boston Massachusetts, but I can't remember because it was about five years ago. But from what I know it was good. Ha ha ha . I can't wait to come back again and bring some other people to enjoy this experience. I will come back anytime I get the opportunity. Oh, one last thing. I did use the restrooms and they were perfectly clean. FYI... It is one person per bathroom ha ha ha, so wait your turn! read more

Fantastic experience for my first time. Had a small 4 meat pizza that was soooo tasty! The building has nothing but charm to it, and I feel like I missed part of it by not walking around and exploring more. Bonus was meeting Royals HOF pitcher Dennis Leonard, which in turn I then got to meet the owner, who was super nice (thanks for the autographed ball! Signed by Dennis, not the owner!) Genuinely the best Italian spot!!!!! We were heartbroken when they posted they were closing before deciding to remain open! This place needs more love! It is so so good!!!! I've seen lots of local buzz about this place, so we had to check it out. It definitely lived up to all the hype! Loved, loved, loved interior and the history of the 150+ upcycled floors and tables in the South room. The little guy and I shared the fettuccini Alfredo. It was creamy, garlicky and oh so delicious! In town for a wedding. Bride recommended Tusconos, called a day before to see if they could accommodate a party of 20 on a Thursday night and they booked us in their banquet room. We had to pass through the main dining room which had a steady flow throughout the evening. We had a diverse group and everyone of all ages enjoyed their food. read more

An unexpected, but nice little gem of an Italian restaurant in a small town! I ordered the lasagna which was very tasty and in generous proportions. If you have gluten allergies, order the gluten free bread to start things off. It's very good, especially with a spread of butter. We also ordered the Fusilli pasta which is gluten free as well. The Cesar Salad is good and great to have ahead or with your entree. You can also choose from a bottle or glass of your favorite vino too. For dessert, we ordered the crem brûlée for the finisher- so good and creamy with that carmelized top! The dining areas are nice and decorated in that old world charm just like Italia. This is a very good Italian restaurant in the small town of Buckner. The owners are very nice and usually visit your table while you're there. They serve both pizza and Italian food of all types. It can be crowded on weekends, but that just tells you that the food is good. read more

This place is a well-kept secret. The building is phenomenal. From what I understand the owners hand crafted many of the aspects of the building and restored it. It's charming, it's clean, and the staff at this restaurant are incredible. I have had two entrées at this restaurant. I had the 14 inch Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza on the old world style crust. I have had their lasagna. I have no words in my vocabulary to explain how good these dishes were. I've only been to the restaurant twice, but this is now my favorite "go to" for special celebrations!! There is a light and fluffy focaccia bread that they serve with olive oil and herbs prior to taking your order. I swear I could fill up on that bread and not worry about ordering an entrée, however I find a way to eat all the bread I want and then have a bite of the meal, and take the rest to go. The owner of this restaurant told us that he and his family traveled to Italy for four months to learn how to serve authentic dishes. I think it's really neat when a person immerses themselves in the culture and the people and in the cuisine. Considering that this five-star restaurant is sitting in the middle of the tiniest town I've been to, this is a very sweet place to visit and I cannot recommend it enough. read more

You'd never expect a nice Italian restaurant to be in a small town like Buckner. This place has multiple dining rooms along with a beautiful outdoor sitting area. The food is really good. Their signature item is their pizza but today we went for the Chicken Brocolli pasta dish and the Spicey Penne Rustica. We definately plan to return to try the pizzas. We planned a large family dinner here. They do not take reservations (although we did try to tell them a couple times we were coming). Not being from the area, I wasn't sure what to expect for an Italian restaurants in a small down. Turns out Tusconos is really good! Our server was very nice. They seemed to be understaffed (who's not these days, right?!), but all the staff were friendly and helpful. I had the Italian steak. It was huge and came with chips. My husband got a pasta and my son got the lasagna. They have several sauce options for their pasta dishes so that's fun. A few other people ordered salmon and I noticed that it didn't appear to be overcooked (common in non-seafood restaurants) and they said it was good. Went here tonight for dinner, with friends. It's located in downtown Buckner in an older building. I really liked the exposed brick and the wood floors. My friend and I started with sangria and it was nice and sweet. They brought some warm bread and olive oil out to munch on. This was a nice touch. I ordered a house salad with Italian dressing. It was large enough to split with my husband. My husband and I ordered a pizza to split, the Tuscano. The Tuscano had Italian sausage, mushrooms, roasted red peppers, and garlic; we selected the NY Style. It was very tasty. We ended the meal with tiramisu. The tiramisu was spot on. Well worth the trip to Buckner. Wonderful setting in historic old downtown renovated building, tons of ambiance and charm. Food and service were excellent, in spite of place being very busy. Staff very friendly and attentive. My dinner choice was the stuffed, grilled portobello mushrooms (doing that Keto diet thing...tough to do at most Italian restaurants). Two large portobello caps, grilled nicely and generously stuffed, covered in gooey cheese goodness...Smokey, char flavor was wonderful. Others in our party of 6 enjoyed traditional Italian classics; pizza, fettuccine Alfredo, and eggplant parmigiana (zucchini noodles were a bit limp and a skimpy portion given the up charge...our only disappointment) Overall a very nice experience which will draw us back for another visit. The service was great and the atmosphere was decent but the entrees left much to be desired. I ordered the Greek pasta which comes with chicken. The chicken was processed flat dry pieces, just like the turkey school cafeterias serve. I was expecting nice tender slices or chunks. After picking the "chicken" out, the remaining ingredients were just mediocre. The antipasto appetizer was good. The only entree enjoyed was spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs, but the comment on that was that we make better at home. Service was impeccable from the moment I walked in to the time I sat down, ordered and received my food. I had high hopes, after my server sold me on some of their specialty menu items. Unfortunately, the salmon was over cooked - I mean almost leather like. It should flake off the fork... And the chef has a very heavy hand with salt. The rice pilaf under the salmon was hard and clumped together - I think it was probably a few days old and just reheated in the microwave. It too was salty and inedible. The side of sautéed spinach was at first amazing, and then there was that salt lick feel with every bite thereafter. Wow, I'm still drinking water to rehydrate. Everything was just salty.
