I noticed some changes the last couple of times I've been there and guess I'll go ahead and write about them. The food is still very very good but the portion sizes have shrunk a bit. The thick slices of warm bread that used to come to the table have been replaced with thin slices that don't taste nearly as freshly baked. My Sicilian iced tea seem to have more sweet-and-sour mix in it than it used to, but it was still okay. The prices are on the higher side of reasonable. Still like Toscano's and the food is good. Get there earlier or be prepared to have a wait.

When I first moved to Missouri, I got insurance through AAA in Lee's summit and I was recommended by the agent who signed me up to check out Toscano's in Buckner. I was told it's one of the best Italian spots in town. I added it to my bookmark list and thought last Friday it was time to go check it out. I was not disappointed to say the least. Well, one item could've been better but overall everything was fantastic. From Anita our server to the owner Kurt. The deep fried artichoke hearts did not work well together. Personally, I think they should've had some kind of creamy sauce mixed inside of them so they would've been softer and every bite would have been as much as you wanted. Does that make sense? You took a bite, and the whole artichoke dip would slip out of the casing of the deep fried goodness... Just to give a shout out to the owner. He walked around table to table, asking about how their food was how their experience was, and just got to know the people. I thought that was really cool. I've worked in restaurants before I started working in utilities, and I know what makes good customer service shine. This man has it. One day I plan on opening up my own restaurant when I retire, and what he does is what I want to do. To be that guy who gives the guests attention. Anyways, other than Kurt Anita, our server was attentive... She was always there when we needed something, always offering refills. She gave us great recommendations starting with a full flavored wine, and one thing I do love about Anita is she recommended something and said not to eat something. Yes some of you might say, "you can't say not to eat something at a restaurant." I disagree. This is something I did when I was a server and everybody wanted to hear those kind of comments. Most of all we all don't have the same taste buds and some things aren't as good as other items. The restaurant was clean, I love the vibe. I love how all three of the rooms were all put together for one big restaurant. They were old buildings on the downtown over in Buckner. Don't hold me to that I could be wrong... But regardless, it was really neat. I felt like I was in an authentic Italian restaurant, the hustle and bustle the wine bottles on the wall... The bar....and don't get me started on the food. Well, I will... The food was awesome. My bacon, chicken, chipotle pasta had so much flavor. my wife's chicken Spiedini was packed with flavor as well. I only had one bite, but I did enjoy it and the presentation looked phenomenal. All plates were perfectly balanced with more meat and toppings than actual pasta. Which I think is top-notch. Everything came out, and the marinara sauce was flavorful and thick! We finished it off with a chocolate and vanilla cannoli and this I don't have much experience with. I did have a cannoli out in Boston Massachusetts, but I can't remember because it was about five years ago. But from what I know it was good. Ha ha ha . I can't wait to come back again and bring some other people to enjoy this experience. I will come back anytime I get the opportunity. Oh, one last thing. I did use the restrooms and they were perfectly clean. FYI... It is one person per bathroom ha ha ha, so wait your turn!

The food was amazing. The service was excellent. Had a good bottle of wine. And the price is definitely not bad for the level of quality. Only thing I didn't like was the cheesecake as it is not as sweet as I am used to.

Check out the amazing history of the floors and tables!

I've seen lots of local buzz about this place, so we had to check it out. It definitely lived up to all the hype! Loved, loved, loved interior and the history of the 150+ upcycled floors and tables in the South room. The little guy and I shared the fettuccini Alfredo. It was creamy, garlicky and oh so delicious! The hubs ordered the Tuscano pasta and really enjoyed it. The homemade bread baked with cheese and served with an olive oil dip served before the meal is amazing!

Great service and beautifully made food. Staff was friendly and very accommodating. The cocktails were created by our server/bartender and were delicious and unique.

An unexpected, but nice little gem of an Italian restaurant in a small town! I ordered the lasagna which was very tasty and in generous proportions. If you have gluten allergies, order the gluten free bread to start things off. It's very good, especially with a spread of butter. We also ordered the Fusilli pasta which is gluten free as well. The Cesar Salad is good and great to have ahead or with your entree. You can also choose from a bottle or glass of your favorite vino too. For dessert, we ordered the crem brûlée for the finisher- so good and creamy with that carmelized top! The dining areas are nice and decorated in that old world charm just like Italia. Our server took good care of us and made some nice suggestions!

It always feels like a special night out. Ashley is usually our server, and she's an absolute gem. She offers thoughtful recommendations, knows the menu inside and out, and provides the kind of warm, amazing service that keeps us coming back. The food is consistently outstanding. On this visit we shared the ceviche, the tagliatelle Bolognese, and the Campo Lindo chicken breast. It was all delicious. We love that the menu is always being updated, but they continue to offer some of our favorites. The ambiance is just as memorable as the food. Whether you choose the oyster bar, the cocktail bar, or the dining room, the experience always feels elevated. They also have a great private dining room. We recently celebrated a friend's birthday there, and it was the perfect setting. Farina continues to deliver one of the best dining experiences in Kansas City. From the exceptional food and thoughtful service to the inviting atmosphere, it's a restaurant we find ourselves returning to again and again. Highly recommend for date night or any special occasion.

If you can't get to Italy, go to Farina! (In fact even if you regularly go to Italy - or even if…read moreyour Italian visiting KC - GO TO FARINA...!) Some of the best Italian inspired food anywhere. It's justifiably difficult to get a booking, as befits the best restaurant in Kansas City. Beautiful dishes in a great atmosphere. Start with the ambiance: it's usually busy in an enjoyable uplifting way. People watching is at a peak here as smart diners move between elegant and tasteful furniture while friendly, professional (and invariably handsome) wait staff glide through it all. If you recognize and appreciate good Italian design, this place will delight you before you've even glanced at the menu. Talking of the menu - it's a revolving tableau of Italian inspired deliciousness that will cause you to pause after each first bite - and look up at your dinner companion with a smile that says "wow"! Last night I had a lobster roll that defied gravity in its lightness. And the taste and texture was just perfect - what an appetizer! It was a moderate eating evening so I only had the pasta. A Carbonara of homemade thick noodle pasta with a deeply seductive cream sauce base. Paired both with a selection from the other great feature of Farina, its wine list. My selection was a minerally dry sparkling rose (I know, but trust me!) from the slopes of Etna. The wine selection is itself a wonderful experience - I'd recommend sticking with the Italian options - of which there are many, and they are quality examples some of which are rare finds in America. When you add great service and - as always - a brief check in from one of the two owners (he chef, she sommelier) you can round out a top level dining experience right here in KCMO. One to rival any other eatery in much bigger markets - or even Italy itself.

He brought me a starter salad with a tomato based dressing... holy hell, bro! Delicious! Never have such a dressing... and it did not disappoint! And the main dish... I don't even like mushrooms and it didn't matter. More deliciousness! The lightly breaded chicken was tender. The white sauce was savory. The noodles were cooked to perfection. Exquisite. And the Tiramisu he brought me rounded out what has been the best midday meal I've had in as far as I can remember. And the Godfather music cycling through the atmosphere... made me feel like I was just made an offer I can't refuse. Thank goodness I don't have horses. Seriously though... told Dibi that I was upset. He asked why. I told him that I was upset it took me this long to find this place! And yes... I am a comedian... but one thing I don't joke about is making food recommendations. If you've seen me or know me... you know that I have a rep to protect! Thank you, Dibi... and the owner, Randy! It's alright. Just okay. Bland and off-putting food, with a weird and uncanny atmosphere…read more Here is why I think that: I went here once before and had a dish I absolutely was disgusted by. , "The Tortellini Michelangelo." I could not finish more than a few bites before throwing in the towel. I played it off as maybe I just didn't like the dish. Maybe my palette wasn't meant for it. A year or so later, today, I order a lasagna, something my microwave is quite familiar with. With my vivid familiarity of microwave lasagna, I'm not proud to inform you that great-value microwave lasagna brings me more joy than the lasagna I had here. The lasagna here was not bad, but it was not good. I would eat this again if I was hungry, but I would never seek this lasagna out. Each bite was so oily that I became a meteorologist for my stomach's own forecast. While the oil was consistent bite to bite, the meat dispersion wasn't. The meat was hanging out on one side of the dish clumped up together, making the bites with meat feel either lonely or overcrowded. Now that I have tried a dish that I know how it should taste, I can admit maybe, "The Tortellini Michelangelo," is likely objectively not good too. Or I should just appreciate the one-note musky mushroom taste and nothing else. The atmosphere feels weird and tacky. I understand what they are going for aesthetically but the execution feels like a fake halloween mimicry, rather than being authentic. Not that I could tell you anything of being authentically italian. I am mainly thinking of the black drop ceiling tiles which turn into regular white drop ceiling tiles at the diagonal edge of the wall or any time there is a ventilation tile. The service was okay, it was very busy so it was hard to flag our server down, but nothing bad. Considering all of this, I think this place as a very middle of the road experience. It really only feels like it is doing the bare minimum to be a restaurant, as such, it meets my expectations for a restaurant.
