So, when someone says to you let's eat Italian tonight, what goes through your mind? Are you going to order a pasta, like a spaghetti or maybe a penne, possibly fettuccine, and there is always angel hair? Or maybe you're going to go with a sandwich like a meatball sandwich or an Italian panini, what about baked? Is lasagna your thing how about chicken parmesan, will that work for you? For me it's simple I absolutely love Fettuccine Alfredo, and you toss in some shrimp and I'm in heaven. So today I was thinking about Italian, and I was wanting to go someplace I had never been before. So, I go out to my garage and get in my Horseless Carriage and send that buggy northward on I-35 to the Great Northern Tundra and a city called Kearney. And in this city call Kearney there's an Italian place called Gino's Italiano. So, I pull myself out of the buggy, I walk up and open the door and inside I go where was seated at table. I order up my fettuccine alfredo with shrimp. They served it with some bread, and I had a beer to help wash it all down. Just look at that gorgeous bowl of pasta! The Alfredo sauce was rich, creamy, and smooth and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The shrimp was to the tooth there was no rubberiness to it! And dig in I did, after I let it cool down a bit because you see they brought it to the table with steam rolling off of it! And with each bite of those pasta noodles and that sauce it got better, richer, and creamier. If you happen to find yourself in Kearney don't be afraid to give this place a try because they also have weekly hamburger specials and they have a breaded pork loin sandwich that I've heard other people say is quite good. Wow! What a find! We were in Kearney to see the tulip farm and stumbled on this gem for lunch. The menu was excellent -- most of your basic Italian favorites. I had the "Italian steak" (pork tenderloin) parmigiana sandwich with a side of spaghetti and red sauce. The portion was HUGE and the food was perfect. The sauce is sweet and delicious and the meat was tender and perfectly cooked. My wife had an Italian panini with a side of eggplant parmigiana. The portion was too large for her (which is not a complaint). The server was attentive and welcoming. The prices were fair, particularly given the portion sizes. I will eat here the next time I'm in the area. I loved it. read more

Me and my Wife had dinner here because of other pics and reviews, we came up from Gladstone Mo. and it was worth the drive, the staff and Chef D himself were awesome, we will definitely be back, I had the tenderloin and I am not really a tenderloin fan but man it was amazing and I could not even finish it, lol could not even make it to the sandwich part haha. It was thick and juicy and the flavors was great. My wife had the Cajun chicken fettuccine, and she said it was delicious and you could tell Chef D made the noodles from scratch. We will definitely be back to try other selections too. And we finished off the meal with Chef D's personal selection of cream brûlée, and I am not sure if I ever had it before but it was very delicious Thank you Chef D and your staff for taking great care of us. What a great lil place! Totally surprised there was an Italian restaurant in Kearney and the food was great! Sauce was Sicilian tasting with a hint of sweet, ravioli was very good, salad was fresh with romaine and homemade Italian dressing. I don't know who took over this place, but WOW did it go down hill. The only thing we really liked was the bread, and it's just run of the mill grocery store italian bread. We got a bowl of lasagna. For a small town Italian place, it was pleasantly tasty. They have quite the wine list as well! And dessert :) For starters, we ordered the calamari and the toasted ravioli. Both were very delicious. Probably some of the best toasted ravioli I've had in a long time. It had sausage and cheese mixed in fried to a perfection. Very tasty! Then I ordered the spinach and artichoke pizza. It lasted me 4 days with leftovers! It was amazing. Very juicy and the crust was cooked in a brick oven. Very well done. My friend ordered the Cajun pasta and it was very good as well. Not too spicy! But still creamy! For dessert we ordered the strawberry cheesecake and the friend cheesecake stick thing served with ice cream. It was good, although less cheesecake in the middle would have been better! Will go back anytime I want Italian! read more

Unfortunately they had no steaks so I went with pasta and had the sampler. Holy heavens it was good! I have to say don't bother with the garlic cheese bread. It's sliced bread with melted butter and garlic powder and a slice of cheese on it. - not worth the money. Do get the pasta though. Super delicious and you get enough for 3 meals. My only suggestion is that when they seat a customer they should say what they are out of at that time. It would save the disappointment when the customer is told they are out of something. Stopped here for lunch on the way to Tulsa. We saw the sign off the highway and decided to give it a try and it did not disappoint. Husband had the Gino's sampler with 4 different type of pasta, lasagna is my favor and he likes all 4 - cheese ravioli, fettuccine alfredo and penne marinara, and lasagna of course. I had Gino's Diablo and it's A LOT of pasta and very delicious. The penne is cooked al dante and the sausage is very flavorful. Would totally recommend! read more

Food is bland and seems to be made from frozen not fresh ingredients. Have eaten here a few times. Tried the eggplant parmigiana. Flaccid breaded eggplant with flavorless sauce. Had to stop in before Gino goes on vacation from June 30-July 9 and he reopens for fried chicken night on July 10. Got the 1/2 loaf meatzza bread for me and quarter loaf pepperoni for Katrina. This stuff beats the frozen French bread at the grocery hand down. Great food, (and not just Italian), great service, and the prices are pretty reasonable considering the amount of food that you receive.

What a find while passing through this berg. To me this food was every bit as good as our trip across Italy a couple years ago. Servers were 'people persons' and went out of their way to make us feel welcome. I had the four course Gino's sampler and glad I did. Just a heads up for anyone looking at their website to place a catering order or anything apparently. While still posted with no mention of not being current, prices are now more than double. I had the unfortunate experience of ordering based on website prices and was not quoted a price difference even after talking to a manager and my reference to the website. At no time did the mgr share that the website was not correct or outdated. My fault for not confirming the total cost! GM has taken no ownership (and very rude) for the misinformation or in having any interest in an appropriate resolution. Been a customer since day 1, new owners have destroyed a great business in my eyes. Will never return! read more

Decent family Italian food in small town. I bring my family here, often. The staff are always very friendly and Gino himself makes it a point to walk around and visit with patrons eating here. Family atmosphere. Portions are large, if that is a checkbox for you. It's not going to compare to finer cuisine Italian restaurants in KC, but if you're in the area and want Italian food, Gino's will hit the spot. read more
