My fiance and I were craving some Italian after church and we found Bella's only a few miles away. We are new to the area and have never heard of it so had no idea what to expect. Ambiance was cool - it was low light, lots of wood and interesting architecture. Definitely felt "old school" in a good way. Not what we were expecting from the outside which is not particularly unique as far as the build out. We waited at the host stand for a bit but it was clear every worker was in the middle of a task (we saw a very large party and it seemed like food for every table was Just coming out). One thing I really admired was that every employee that walked by (running to a table with a tray of food, turning a ticket in, etc.) made eye contact with us and acknowledged our presence and apologetically said, "We will be right with you!" We didn't wait long at all and we didn't care even if we did, but I just thought that was so kind compared to some joints where employees who are busy just pretend you are not there. We were met with kindness at the door and that meant more to me than the great service and great food. The rolls are SO good and they come out warm. I had the Murphy which was very flavorful and on the spicy side, while my fiance had chicken Alfredo. We both left full and happy! We will definitely return! read more

Nice place!!! Very Nice!!! Dibi welcomed me as I walked in and he is freaking amazing! Ordered the Chicken Cremona. He brought me a starter salad with a tomato based dressing... holy hell, bro! Delicious! Never have such a dressing... and it did not disappoint! And the main dish... I don't even like mushrooms and it didn't matter. More deliciousness! The lightly breaded chicken was tender. The white sauce was savory. The noodles were cooked to perfection. Exquisite. And the Tiramisu he brought me rounded out what has been the best midday meal I've had in as far as I can remember. And the Godfather music cycling through the atmosphere... made me feel like I was just made an offer I can't refuse. Thank goodness I don't have horses. Seriously though... told Dibi that I was upset. He asked why. I told him that I was upset it took me this long to find this place! And yes... It's alright. Just okay. Bland and off-putting food, with a weird and uncanny atmosphere. Here is why I think that: I went here once before and had a dish I absolutely was disgusted by. , "The Tortellini Michelangelo." I could not finish more than a few bites before throwing in the towel. I played it off as maybe I just didn't like the dish. Maybe my palette wasn't meant for it. A year or so later, today, I order a lasagna, something my microwave is quite familiar with. With my vivid familiarity of microwave lasagna, I'm not proud to inform you that great-value microwave lasagna brings me more joy than the lasagna I had here. The lasagna here was not bad, but it was not good. I would eat this again if I was hungry, but I would never seek this lasagna out. Each bite was so oily that I became a meteorologist for my stomach's own forecast. While the oil was consistent bite to bite, the meat dispersion wasn't. The meat was hanging out on one side of the dish clumped up together, making the bites with meat feel either lonely or overcrowded. Now that I have tried a dish that I know how it should taste, I can admit maybe, "The Tortellini Michelangelo," is likely objectively not good too. Or I should just appreciate the one-note musky mushroom taste and nothing else. The atmosphere feels weird and tacky. I understand what they are going for aesthetically but the execution feels like a fake halloween mimicry, rather than being authentic. Not that I could tell you anything of being authentically italian. I am mainly thinking of the black drop ceiling tiles which turn into regular white drop ceiling tiles at the diagonal edge of the wall or any time there is a ventilation tile. The service was okay, it was very busy so it was hard to flag our server down, but nothing bad. Considering all of this, I think this place as a very middle of the road experience. It really only feels like it is doing the bare minimum to be a restaurant, as such, it meets my expectations for a restaurant. read more

Bella's Italian Restaurant is just okay overall. The inside is super cute and the service was great, which definitely helps the experience. The food, though, was pretty mediocre. The "Caesar" salad really missed the mark -- it was basically just Caesar dressing on a salad with tomatoes and olives, no croutons and no parmesan, which doesn't feel like a Caesar at all. The shrimp Alfredo was alright, but nothing special -- honestly, it's something you could easily make better at home (at least I know I could). The garlic bread was fine; if you like bread, it's good bread. I will say they do offer gluten-free options, which is a plus and appreciated. Overall, nice atmosphere and friendly service, but the food didn't stand out and didn't quite live up to the hype. read more

I came here on April 29, 2026 for a second date. It was a Wednesday night so the place was a little slow which was perfect for us. Our server, Takine, could not have been more polite and attentive. While tempted by the appetizers I noticed that meals included both salad and bread. I ordered the nightly special which was a Mediterranean pasta that featured shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, Greek olives and an olive oil sauce. It was fantastic. My date got the chicken marseille and she loved it. We had no need for dessert as our portions were large enough that we both took home leftovers. And while we both had two drinks our bill was under $100 with a reasonable tip (I tipped more than reasonable as everything was so good). I highly recommend this restaurant for any occasion. read more

Food was flavorless. I dont think they use any sort of seasoning on anything. The chicken alfredo came out dry as the sahara desert. And i think the alfredo sauce was literally just 2% milk with a sprinkle of pepper. The chicken parm quality was very neck and neck with those chicken nugget freezer meals you can buy at the grocery store. After my experience eating here I had to check reviews to see how many people agreed with me and I was flabbergasted when I mostly just saw positive reviews. That leads me to believe most people that enjoy this restaraunt are already black out drunk when they arrive or are pretty close. I didnt look at a drink menu but I think I needed atleast 12 drinks to begin to appreciate some of the food. Service was pretty mid. But I did think the ambiance was fine. So I guess that gets it one star. I hope my experience dining here was just a fluke and the cooks just had a bad night or something! The biggest disappointment for me was that I actually had to pay for the food when I was done haha. Food was ok, but I got charged twice on my credit card for my lunch so I went back with my receipt and a copy of my credit card statement. I was treated like a crook as they basically didn't believe me. I am a 70 year old gal on a budget. Show some respect. They wanted to see my credit card, wanted my girlfriend that I had lunch with - wanted her phone number because they said she didn't pay, and then said there must have been a third person at our table that didn't pay. All this after they received payment for 3 meals. This took forever to resolve as I heard excuse after excuse. Word of advice: I eventually got my money back with an attitude and I didn't do anything wrong. If you want to keep a customer, do not treat them this way. I will not be going back because it was so obvious how much they hated me for asking for MY MONEY BACK. I don't understand what their issue is unless they did this on purpose which I am suspecting maybe they did. Check your credit card statements. read more

For the discriminating Italian food aficionado who knows what authentic Italian cuisine tastes like, this is the best place in the Metro KC area to find it. As the daughter of a first generation Sicilian mother, I can say unequivocally that this the closest thing to my Mother's and Nonna's cooking that I have found in the greater KC area. Everything from the homemade knot rolls to the decadently delicious limoncello cake, to their tomato basil salad dressing, and their delicious marinara sauce, it will make your tongue do the Snoopy happy dance! Great food, great people who make you feel like family, and an ambiance that takes me back to the neighborhood restaurants I frequented in my trips to Roma. A group of 20 women visited this nice restaurant in Lee's Summit on 9/11/24. It was super easy to find and had good parking arrangements. The interior was welcoming and NOT loud and noisy, as some restaurants seem to be these days. We had two young men as our servers. They were friendly and funny, although a couple of the gals were oblivious to the jokes.... I ordered Chicken Albaneses. I like to try foods I've never made and this one appealed to me due to the color photo and well written description contained in the menu. Mine was VERY GOOD. Great sauce. Exceedingly tender chicken breast. And a proper portion for lunch. The salad was meh. Really meh. Chopped up bib lettuce with a small slice of tomato. All of the ladies enjoyed the garlic buttered bread rolls. A nice addition to the meal. Two "buts". One women had a bad time with speed of delivery on her food. And another claimed to me her lunch was cold. I suppose they can be somewhat forgiven due to the size of our party.... But kudos to the kitchen staff and the servers for delivering all the meals at once. NOW FOR THE BEST PART!!! I ordered Tiramisu to go. Decadent. Perfect. Save room!! Bella's! I didn't even know it existed. I require gluten free pasta. That's my biggest worry when I eat at Italian restaurants. Well no worries there! They had gluten free pasta available on almost every entree. I ordered shrimp scampi pasta and triamisu. I also got a salad and garlic bread. We had numerous appetizers. I loved all of it. I can't think of my favorite appetizer cause it was all so good. Service was impeccable. I enjoyed every bit of Bella's and it's a place I'd take out of town guests. read more

Best Italian restaurant in Lee's Summit! My husband and I came here for a date night on a whim and were beyond impressed! The food was authentic and the service was attentive. I had the shrimp fettuccine and my husband had the tortellini Michaelangelo. Both tasted delicious and fresh! We recently had an unpleasant experience with the owners of Vetta, a new Italian restaurant in the area that replaced Calavera's. We would recommend Bella's over Vetta based on the treatment of customers alone, but it doesn't hurt that the food at Bella's is also much more authentic and tasty. If you are looking for a quick bite at lunch, highly recommend this place. The service was friendly and attentive. Their lunch specials include a salad and garlic rolls. I ordered the house dressing expecting it to be similar to an Italian dressing. But it tasted more like a French dressing. The garlic rolls were soft and not overwhelming garlic. The lasagna was cooked in its own little dish. The sauce was good but felt like there should have been another layer to the lasagna. One thing I want to mention is the table next to me ask the waiter if they could make something not on the menu. He yes, absolutely tell me about it. Literally the best Italian food I have ever had. Driving through on the way to a wedding. Picked this spot from all the good reviews on Yelp. They were deserved! I got the tortellini and my boyfriend for the Stromboli. Both were incredible. You can taste how fresh the pasta is. The sauce is next level! Very fresh and smooth texture. We ordered the garlic cheese bread and the cheese is fresh and the bread is toasted with a great crunch. The sauce is great with that too. The garlic knots that come with the meal are more of a yeast dough, but soft and tasty. I ended up getting the tiramisu at the recommendation of the chef. Very very good. I personally would probably ask for no chocolate syrup garnish, but the tiramisu itself was to die for. One of the layers is made with Baileys. That was new for me, but delicious. The service was enthusiastic. Place was clean and decorated how you would expect for an Italian place. We loved it so much we made a reservation for tomorrow too on our way home. Day 2- Got the eggplant parm. Now the chef said they don't make it like everyone else and wanted me to try it first before ordering. Incredible! They very lightly bread it, but it's not fried like most places. They bake it with the sauce and the cheese. All of that flavor gets packed it. The eggplant is soft, but not mushy and maintains an excellent flavor. The house made sauce is delicious. BF got the lasagna pizza. It's exactly like it sounds. Very cheesy. More ricotta than sauce. It wasn't my cup of tea, but bf said it was amazing. He finished over half before we left. We ended up getting the tortellini to go because we just needed that pink sauce in our lives! The owner was very friendly again and was excited to see us. We've already made plans to come back in a few months. Please check this place out. A happy mistake brought me in. I thought this was the Italian place downtown LS when I pulled it up (I didn't look very close). However, I had plans to meet people here, so was committed. The restaurant was large, but pretty empty. I ordered the shrimp scampi and the house salad. I ordered the house dressing and was a little surprised that it was red and thick. My boyfriend and I finally decided to try Bella's. Early on I had been told mixed reviews but had heard some good things more and so we decided to give it a shot. We went on an early in the week late afternoon. My BF ordered the spaghetti with garlic and olive oil and I ordered the chicken piccata. Salads came with the meal but were nothing special. Iceberg lettuces a sprinkle of cheese and maybe 3-4 slices of olives. The dressing wasn't anything to be excited about either. The garlic rolls were decent. His spaghetti had good flavor but there wasn't even a full "normal" serving of pasta in the bowl. We both left hungry which we were told by others the portion sizes we got didn't sound right but we didn't find enough of a reason to go back. I moved to STL three years ago but returned recently to celebrate my son's birthday. Looks and smells like cat food. Owner has no manners and refused to exchange the meal and gave attitude instead of apologizing.
