She decided that if she did get a cat, she wanted it to be a senior cat at least nine or 10 years old and she wanted a black cat. I checked a few rescue places and came up upon homeward bound cat rescue. We went clear across town to visit and we're really happy that we did. We spent some time visiting with one of their senior cats. I don't know how someone passed her up. She is very friendly. She did hiss a couple of times at homeward bound, but I think it was because she was afraid and didn't know us ...but you could tell that she had a good demeanor as she started to warm up after we spent a good 45 minutrs or more there with her. She came and sat right next to my sister. She actually then crawled up onto my lap. We knew that she had picked us as her new humans. She will come when you call her name and she has litter box trained. She will also come give you a little head but to tell you, she loves you. She is friendly with me and my husband. The intake form said she was a little nervous with other people coming into the house, but we've had several people interact with her now and she's never had that issue. I don't think it was a cat issue. I think it was the people issue. We're really happy we found homeward bound cat rescue. The facility is very clean. They do have quite a few cats. They have their own rooms and some of them have a couple of cats together so that they have a friend or they're bonding, but I love the fact that they weren't all sitting in cages having such high stress like you see at some of the adoptions at the pet stores or PetSmart, etc. It is truly a wonderful place and the ladies there are exceptional. The intake form was really not that long. I don't know what other people on the reviews are saying that it was a difficult process, but I would hope that they would be selective and talk to each person and get some information and have you sign adoption papers so they're doing everything the right way. Even If you don't need a cat at this time, at least go to their website and make a donation.

I stalked the website, because they are very good about updating their website every night, looking at dogs I'd want to meet. We headed over to the facility, which is very easy to find and easy to get in and out of. We walked into the dog side (there is also a cat side but both sides share a lobby so it's ok to enter either door if you don't have an animal with you) and signed in on the laptop immediately. I was a bit intimidated but the people working the counter were friendly. They did kind of speak to us like we knew the drill but we aren't needy and figured stuff out ourselves. We visited quite a few times before finding our baby boy. I started to see the place as a sad place because it was one disappointment after another but finally we found our particular pup and couldn't be happier. The adoption process was easy and very informative. I appreciated our first pic with our new baby that they took. I would have forgotten in our excitement.

I was told on 23 NOV 2021 by the foster mom "I sent all your texts to the operator of the rescue I foster for and she's very happy with everything your doing to ensure Avalanche's arrival. Her only concern is if for whatever reason it doesn't work out and we have to come get him your all the way in Georgia and not that we're saying it won't work we just have to think of every possible scenario for Avalanche's safety is all. But you seem sincere and I've been talking to her about it." I then told the foster mom I would sign whatever needed that would require me to return him to Nevada. The foster mom and I then messaged everyday. I got all the things he would need and want. I got the food he was on, his favorite treats, toys, brush, leashes, collar, harness, toothbrush, shampoo, seat belt for his harness, bed, crate etc. I scheduled a vet appointment and two daycare evaluations locally as well as to meet with a professional trainer. Then on 06 DEC I was emailed that I cannot adopt him as I live out of state and that's their policy. This was the first I was told that policy. I've since offered to fly out there (I was going to have a rescue group transport him for me which I filled out all that paperwork) and rent a car and drive back myself (2,000 miles). I offered to do a FaceTime and have any other person they trusted that was local (from another rescue organization) to see my home as they require a home inspection. Now they are messaging me telling me "Please reach out to those rescues who will make exceptions. We will not make the exception. Thank you. We will no longer entertain ANY messages or emails from you as we have been clear on our end". I feel betrayed as I couldn't sleep the night they told me. I kept looking at everything I had ready for him and crying. I thought rescuing an animal was the right thing to do and instead I'm left with a broken heart. It's not okay what they did to me.

We are here for the holidays and it was her first time in Nevada so we wanted to give her a groom experience over here. I'm glad we chose this place because the hand scissor skills and experience was top tier! They actually do get spoiled. She got her photos taken during the groom and after! Her hair was very soft and she smelled so good. There were still some armpit knots afterwards but it was very minimal and hard to spot so missing it was very likely but not impossible. I know Ginger is not fond of having her under brushed so I think her groomer did not want to force it on her and prioritized her comfort which I definitely understand and would rather prefer it that way. Her overall cut was honestly very surprising to me. It was very symmetrical, detailed and polished. I can usually tell when they cut more clipper focused (from bringing her to different groomers which let me see the different styles--I'm picky) because some thigh edges get left out, some indents get visible, and it ends up being a random longer tuft of hair though in this cut there was visibly none. The hair her groomer cut (or Kandice in particular) was molded and shaped well. She nailed the round face, her legs and the start of her tail by her butt looks more flushed and it feels flowy. It's hard to explain. There was a tuft of hair by her butt before that didn't really flush the start of her tail and now it's basically cut well--I feel like I'm saying jargon at this point but you have to see/feel it in person to tell. The cut by her visor was also so admirable. It looks so straight and detailed; I'm so happy with it. I can tell she took her time, and that Ginger was comfortable enough to let her do it. I'm pretty sure it's a given with all the pictures you see here. Them taking pics of the pups before and after just shows how confident they are in the final look. I'm really satisfied with how she cut Ginger's hair! This raised my standards a lot more with hand-scissor cutting and I fear I might have to start looking again around Torrance sigh. Now, the store itself. In the morning when I dropped her off I got the strong dog odor smell when I opened the door which I'm not fond of, because her groomers at home do not have that so it's possible to mask the smell. Though when I picked her up the store smelled okay, so it might have been one of the clients, but just a heads up that it can be one or the other. The entry experience was awkward, but nothing bad. They just don't greet you until you get to the register bahaha. Their merchandise was so cute. I wish I budgeted for that, but it'll have to be for next time. The price was a little inconsistent as well because before when I called they said that it would be around $90 since the groomer I chose is $20 above the beginning price of $70, but I ended up paying for $100 and some change. I didn't mind because the matts might've been the issue and we usually pay around that price back at home, but just be prepared to bring extra. They cut really well so I had no issues paying more than I was quoted for, but some people might not be. This is where I take off a star when it's regarding the storefront and the pricing. Regardless, all-in-all great visit with some minor understandable inconveniences. They take their time with your pup, they SPOIL them. Their hand-scissor skills are very proficient, and you get cute pics of your pup depending on the season! There is no doubt when they take care of your pup. Thank you so much for taking care of our little Ginger during her vacation at Nevada. We will definitely come back if we stay here with her again next holiday when we come back to visit my husband's family. Thank you Kandice! Happy holidays!

After I set an appointment, I received an email with instructions ands tips on how to prepare your pet before and on the day of the appointment. As a first time pet parent, I truly appreciatted that! From the moment we walked in to the time we picked up Oreo after her procedure, every single person we encountered was super kind! I had a million and one questions being that Oreo is my first pet and I was nervous about how the procedure will go. They answered every single question I had, explained everything thoroughly with patience and even asked if I had any more questions! While waiting in the lobby, we chatted with a family who was bringing in their 3rd pet and they let us know how great Heaven can wait is. We couldnt agree more! They do not overcharge (paid $230 for spay and microchip) and dont sell you things you dont need! I asked about a cone for Oreo and they explained why we may not necessarily need it! Being a non-profit, I thought maybe they try to get as much money as they can, but nope. I was expecting Oreo to be lethargic for like 3 days but she was back to her happy self like the 2nd day! I dont see a big scar on her belly like Ive seen in other dogs either. This is the place to bring your beloved pets if you want top notch care for a reasonable price. I am so thankful for Heaven Can Wait Animal Society and all their wonderful staff! From the receptionist, to the vet techs and Veterinarians. They all seem to care for and love what theyre doing. We run into Nutter Butter that had just arrived at the PetSmart on 2140 N Rainbow Boulevard. I believe his arrival date is 5/52026. My wife and I immediately love him, but our determination was based on how he reacted to our children. Our daughter is four years and our son turns two in July. We knew he'd be shy, but Nutter Butter responded very well to our children, and that's what made us take the leap of faith to bring him home. Less than twenty-four hours later, Betty the Adoption Facilitator sent me a text at 7:33am, denying our adoption request, and even went to the length of stating that she refrains from adopting to family with small children. She informed me to wait until my children get older, THEN at that point we can adopt a cat. I expressed to Betty that Nutter Butter was very receptive to my children and that's what made us sure in our determination to adopt him. I would like to state that Betty was not present for my family meeting Nutter Butter. After informing her that I felt this was blatant discrimination, and that I'd be filing a complaint, she immediately requested to meet her at PetSmart so we can discuss adoption at 6pm today. However, the initial encounter was so negative that I canceled the meeting. If this is how your adoption facilitators conduct themselves when dealing with families that want to give cats a loving home, then this adoption company isn't very helpful to the cats they serve. My daughter cried when I informed her of the very abrasive text message Betty sent me. What she texted me after in a disrespectful and condescending tone is what moved me to file this complaint. This really turned a hopeful and memorable moment into a terrible experience with this adoption company. Adoption Facilitators like Betty are hurting the company, and evermore the cats they continue to house.
