My wife and I were in search of a rescue cat that needs a loving home and a second chance. We decided to make Mother's Day very memorable and get my wife a cat that needs loving and grow with a family. We run into Nutter Butter that had just arrived at the PetSmart on 2140 N Rainbow Boulevard. I believe his arrival date is 5/52026. My wife and I immediately love him, but our determination was based on how he reacted to our children. Our daughter is four years and our son turns two in July. We knew he'd be shy, but Nutter Butter responded very well to our children, and that's what made us take the leap of faith to bring him home. Less than twenty-four hours later, Betty the Adoption Facilitator sent me a text at 7:33am, denying our adoption request, and even went to the length of stating that she refrains from adopting to family with small children. She informed me to wait until my children get older, THEN at that point we can adopt a cat. I expressed to Betty that Nutter Butter was very receptive to my children and that's what made us sure in our determination to adopt him. I would like to state that Betty was not present for my family meeting Nutter Butter. After informing her that I felt this was blatant discrimination, and that I'd be filing a complaint, she immediately requested to meet her at PetSmart so we can discuss adoption at 6pm today. However, the initial encounter was so negative that I canceled the meeting. If this is how your adoption facilitators conduct themselves when dealing with families that want to give cats a loving home, then this adoption company isn't very helpful to the cats they serve. My daughter cried when I informed her of the very abrasive text message Betty sent me. What she texted me after in a disrespectful and condescending tone is what moved me to file this complaint. This really turned a hopeful and memorable moment into a terrible experience with this adoption company. Adoption Facilitators like Betty are hurting the company, and evermore the cats they continue to house. read more

These are professionals, from the volunteers, rescuers to the foster parents of these beautiful fur babies. They are knowledgeable, friendly and respectful. They can answer any questions you have about these fur babies. They are vaccinated and given thorough vet exams. They spend whatever money is needed, but the cost is beyond affordable. Did I mention they are all spayed/neutered, well they are. A non-profit, no kill, and beautiful place to adopt your next fur baby! Everyone there loves these animals and treats everyone with respect. I recently found a few kittens in my car engine, and after their mother rejected them, I was desperate to find a safe and good home for them. Foreclosed Upon Pets was the ONLY group who got back to me in less than a week (same day I contacted them). They were extremely kind, and not only ensured these kittens would be cared for, but that they would not face being euthanized at any point, which was a dealbreaker for me. We haven't had a cat in two years, since our last one crossed the Rainbow Bridge. I really wasn't looking for a new cat, however, an acquaintance, Fatima, was volunteering for this group. She urged us to come look at a couple of them to see if we were interested in adopting one. Most people probably want a kitten, but I didn't. I fell in love with an older one and knew I wanted to adopt her. I went home and started filling out the paperwork to start the adoption process. They called me that night! I didn't realize it would go so quickly. I was able to bring her home the next day after a whirlwind morning of getting everything ready. The volunteer Betty was outgoing and was almost as excited as I was to adopt her. I did take her to our vet the next week. She's quite healthy but does need to have her teeth cleaned. This is what I signed on for and it's a small price to pay for her continued good health. I would recommend this organization for anyone looking to adopt a pet. But, I reminded myself, that there are two sides to every story and I loved what this organization is about. I'm so glad I listened to my own advice. For once! And now we will be taking our new baby girl (kitten) home after her spay surgery next week. I had a GREAT experience adopting through this organization and am SO happy I found them. Christia, Mary and Kristie are all amazing! First and foremost they just want what is BEST for the animals who find their way to them and these ladies and their volunteers want to make sure these animals have a loving, stable home for their entire lives. They were super responsive throughout our entire process and Kristie - our kitty foster mama even graciously welcomed us into her home to meet all the kittens, offered to send us pictures this next week while we wait for our little gal to come home and was super welcoming and sweet! Kristie loves every single one of her fosters like her own and takes impeccable care of them all. I will always highly recommend FUPI when looking for a new furbabe/family member. Is a fantastic organization! The fact that they don't just adopt to anyone, shows that they take the time to find the BEST homes for these babies. Fosters use their own money to provide food, toys, necessities...anything and everything a kitten or cat needs to be happy and healthy. Some of these cats come from the streets and have never even been in a household setting. Fosters aren't "cat sitters", they love and teach these animals good behaviors and prep them to be able to blend into another household setting that may have other pets. If you're denied as an adopter, there is obviously a very good reason for that. For example, A foster isn't going to give two kittens to an adopter who admittedly let their last cat die because they didn't want to pay the vet bill. That would be totally irresponsible of the foster to do. Christia works hard for the lives of these innocent creatures. Spent a couple days trying to adopt 2 kittens for here and was denied because my boyfriend who the owner of our home is not a "stable living situation" I was also not even going to be considered because I share my home with other people! Forster parent will tell you one thing only to completely change the next day! We adopted a kitten riddled with EAR MITES, RINGWORM, and CALICIVIRUS. It infected our entire household and Foreclosed Upon Pets refuses to pay our vet bills!!! We paid $175 adoption fee to ensure we added a healthy kitten to our household and it has infected both humans and cats alike. I am so disgusted with their lack of care. I am very angry and hurt. I thought you may be interested in knowing how FUPI treats their animals and costumers. The application was a little intrusive making put my land lords info and everything (i live in a cabin on a ranch property near south point). However me and my best friend "Genji" ( AKA Cinder when he was adopted) would highly recommend adopting through FUPI. I respect that they want their animals to go to good homes and that is why the application had so many questions. I do not recall the name of the woman who fostered him but loved that she insisted on meeting me at my work instead of dropping him off at a Petsmart for me to come get him. She even let me keep his carrier that she brought him in. This was on August 27th 2020. When i saw his photo on their website i knew i had to adopt him. This is the second time we have adopted from FUPI and we are so happy with our new girl! We had originally arranged to meet and adopt a different cat, but upon walking into the adoption area our new girl walked out and chose my husband without hesitation. The kitten we wanted was very shy and reserved and we weren't sure if she would be the best fit for our current kitty, but the cat we chose has been nothing short of perfect for our household. She is the snuggliest, most playful and friendly girl in the world and absolutely adores our other cat! Could not be happier with how easy it was to adopt, and how incredibly friendly and kind everyone was. Antoine was super helpful in arranging a visit and we were able to fill out the forms to be approved prior to showing up to adopt which made the process quick and simple. We walked in and left with our new girl in a matter of minutes. For how much work they put into the cats and love, the adoption fee is small and reasonable. I can't imagine anyone having a hard time with them, they were straightforward and easy the first time we adopted as well. As For Negative Reviews Regarding Health of the Cat: If you are adopting you need to understand that your pet likely came off of the street or from an abuse/neglect/abandonment scenario, and when you adopt your pet likely has come into contact with many others and they have likely been exposed to various things. It is your responsibility to keep the pet quarantined until you have seen the vet after adopting to ensure it is safe to be around your other pets. This is standard protocol for bringing any pet into your home. So new adopters just be mindful. We have been fortunate that all of our pets from FUPI have been the picture of health, but we also have always followed the quarantine first and vet check rule and have never had any issues. read more

I'm sorry to hear about these negative experiences, but our experience with FUPI was a good one! We were interested in adopting one of the dogs that was posted on their facebook page. My husband got in contact with them and started the process with their application. When it got approved, he was told that the dog we were interested in, along with others would be at the Petsmart adoption event on Saturday that week. However, we were not able to make it because of our work schedules. The foster informed us that if she was not adopted that day, she would let us know and would be able to bring her over to our house the next day. Lucky for us, she was still available for adoption and we met her the next day. We fell in love with her and noticed she had a similar personality to one of our other babies that passed away several months back. The entire adoption process was smooth and we are so happy that she is a part of our family! Thank you to everyone at FUPI for all that you do! It's so sad to hear some of these stories, but you are all doing a great job in helping these fur babies find forever homes. Rescue dogs are the best! read more

I reached out to this place for a cat adoption today, I spoke with and texted with Nancy who advised I needed to fill out an application. I did so and I was 'approved'. She stated a volunteer would then contact me for setting up a meet and greet with the cat. I waited two hours and reached back out to Nancy who said I would be contacted shortly. I was contacted by the volunteer and I was advised I could come in the next day to meet the cat in person. A minute later she tells me that the cat had just been adopted by someone else. Her compassion extended to a mere 'I don't know what to tell you, we have other cats'. The communication here is majorly damaged, clearly. Too many people involved in a simple process of pet adoption. If a pet is reserved for someone who was APPROVED for adopting the pet, then this needs to be notated/communicated somehow, somewhere. He was spoken for and was taken from under me due to a break in communication. Instead they allowed me and my family to get our hopes up of adding a new addition to our family and then crushed every bit of hope we had. Your system is broken and you desperately need to review how your adoption process flows. I understand we are currently going through a world wide pandemic but do not let this be the reason or fault for your broken communication and process for adoption. Shame on you for breaking our hearts. read more

I had a horrible experience with this organization. The woman who was emailing me was extremely rude and dismissive. I asked about a dog they had up for adoption and the only response I got was "it wouldn't be a good fit". She didn't even bother to ask me what my home was like or what I was looking for. Then I was told I had a "short temper" when I emailed back to explain the situation. Spoke to a lady name Nancy. I let her know that there is two dogs that needed help in my neighborhood. One had an infection on his anal gland. Long story short I was not able to get them to help that they needed so I contacted these people I met with them they picked up the two little dogs and I let them know once they were ready to be adopted shots and neutered. I would gladly take them. She stated that would not be a problem we had been texting back-and-forth waiting on the animals to be ready for adoption one then got adopted as she promised to keep them together another lie then she stated she sent me an email on how to do the application which I did the following day I text her hey what's going on with the dogs and she stated they were adopted yesterday everything from start to finish is lie she looked my daughter straight in the face who was in tears, and stated it would not be a problem for us to adopt these dogs. Take care of animals somewhere else and if you find strays, there are many other channels I don't recommend this place at all now I don't even know if they didn't put the dogs down if that was a lie. read more

I found a cat and couldn't keep it so I started searching for a rescue. I found FUPI, sent them an email and got a quick respons. I had to wait about a week before bringing her to Navy who was very kind. Took the cat to their vet and had her checked out, then returned her to Nacy who took her. Great experience and I'm very happy they are able to help this sweet kitty find a forever home. I would highly recommend this rescue for anyone looking to adopt or help homeless animals:) read more

Adopter Beware: called in to adopt a kitten and passed the application. I was told I was the first person inquiring about her and no one else would be able to adopt her. Less than 48 hours later the foster volunteer Mary adopted her out to someone else without even notifying me. I had bought a new pet bed, carrier, blankets, and toys within that time frame. Be very careful with what volunteers promise you at this organization. It is devastating to have your heart set on a new pet and then volunteers have so little disregard for adopting families. I am still looking to adopt a kitten but will not go through this organization again. read more

I come from a greyhound rescue group in LV. We recently went to petsmart and talk to a nice person by the name of Debby. I had my 10yo greyhound with me. Debbie and I talked and I fell in love with Klumps. She brought her out and I held her in one arm and the shortened leash in the other. My dog showed no aggression at all, didn't look at the kitten. I placed my application (took 4 times for them to get it). I then got a text from Christina and I answered the questions she had which she liked. A day or 2 later Kristia called and she talked me into taking her sister with her. After thinking and talking it over with my wife we decided to take both. Then on Sunday Kristia said that the foster was keeping the twins, we were broken hearted but understood that things like happen. We talked more about dogs and cats. We have had 7 cats and 6 greyhounds most of which lived happily together. Monday night Christina texted me that the kittens have to be separated from my dog. I asked her to call but to the confusion, she said that I had a young mean dog per Kristia. I then said I was confused. 1st about the kittens now again up for fostering and 2nd I had no young mean dog. She in a sense called me a lier (not in those words). After talking more I told her that I was no longer interested in their group which she said good. I've fostered, held meet and greets, did home visits for the old grey group, never have I seen the disfunction as I seen with this group. read more

In the last 10 years I have adopted 3 dogs from FUPI. They are a wonderful organization, all volunteers from the folks at the meet-and-greet events to the fosters to the people in admin. In response to negative criticism regarding handing over of veterinary records I want to share my experience(s) with FUPI. My first pup had suffered an abusive owner who (as I recall) either abandoned or surrendered multiple pets to FUPI so there were no vet records to be had; in both of the other adoptions, pet's records were provided. read more

Please do not let the negative reviews and rating about impact your experience with FUPI. Even though I was not able to initially Don't the cat I wanted to adopt, I did fall in love with another, and I adopted him instead!! Since this is a volunteer based buisness (meaning no one working for FUPI comes home with a weekly/bi-weekly paycheck), you're going to discover that the volunteers you ultimately end up working with are in fact cat and dog lovers like the majority of us. Unfortunately, due to overwhelming demand for cats and dogs (especially kittens and puppies), the staff are unable to "reserve" or "promise" or "hold" the pet you want to adopt, which is understandable. I was told this up front by one of the volunteers at the Ft Apache store (I think her name was Autumn?) When I asked her if she could hold the cat for me. So my advice, if you're 100% sure you're ready to adopt, go out and purchase all the essentials first, so you don't end up like that entitled reviewer down below that is upset because she believed FUPI would reserve an animal for her without realizing that it's "first come, first serve". Funny thing is, is that this is the same exact principal other adoption agencies go by as well, like Leid Animal Shelter, The Animal Foundation, and others. It's a animal, not a toy. Also, it looks like FUPI needs volunteers to Foster their adoptable dogs/cats, so I may end up applying for that as well, that way, if I end up falling in love with the cat/dog I am fostering, I'll be first in line to adopt him/her (barring any other applications). read more

I just adopted a puppy from FUPI and I see their reviews are often poor. I would like to point out that these people are unpaid volunteers who are donating their precious time for the welfare of homeless, discarded pets. They do not undergo a "personality" test prior to being a volunteer. I would guess that their only prerequisite is the genuine desire to permanently place pets in a SAFE, happy, "forever home". read more

I'll give zero star if I can do so. I filled out the cat application the night before they contacted me. Unfortunately I got deny because I don't understand what "declaw" means so I clicked "yes". I'm a foreign student from China, and sometimes I have to look up the words on dictionary. Not every time I understand fully, so I thought "declaw" just means trimming the cat nails. I called the person who send me the denial message to explain it and her name was Nancy. I explained my misunderstanding and purpose for the cat anxiously because I really like the cat. Then she asked me other questions based on I'm a "foreign student". She asked what will I do if I'm graduated and go back to China. I said I'm planning to stay here in the U.S. with my boyfriend who has a green card. Then she asked me "What if you guys didn't work out, and can't get married? What will you do with the cat?" First, I think it's really rude to ask a couple what if they breakup. Second, I gave her my solution which was bringing the cat with me back to China. Then she said, "It's not possible". I can't understand why she said it's not possible because I know lots of my friends have already bring they pets back to China SAFELY, and airline also supports travel with pets. She denied my request again and said they want to find another rescuer. She also asked me if I want to go other places like Animal Foundation or Henderson Animal Control. To be honest, I have been to a lot of places and none of them are like this rude to me. I don't know if this is some kind of "racist", why can't a foreign student adopt a cat? I'm really upset cause I want to foster a cat for a long time and finally I found the one I really like but I can't adopt it. FUPI has been such a lifesaver for many cats and kittens! I live downtown and care for a colony of cats. I spay & neuter as many as I can but even with that effort, there are always litters of kittens from time to time. FUPI has taken in three different litters of kittens with open arms and they were all adopted through the rescue very quickly. Their customer service has always been prompt and efficient. I appreciate the standards that this rescue abides by when it comes to who they will allow to adopt (i.e. indoor only, no declawing, etc). This kind of vetting ensures that these pets will have true forever homes and makes me feel comfortable and confident in the future of the cats involved. read more

Do not ever adopt from this place. My husband, our 6 year old daughter and myself went into a petsmart by our house and found a dog we like. We filled out the adoption papers and set up a home check. The foster of the dog,dense wolf( who was very nice and considerate) showed up with the dog before the f.u.p lady showed up. Her name was Paula and she is very judgmental and mean. We weren't able to keep the dog due to our walls weren't high enough for her liking. She was about a hour late to the home check , I saw her driving around my neighborhood a half hour before the home check even started; yet she kept calling me saying she was lost and didn't know which way to go. Plus while she was here she kept say I thought this dog was going to have a nice home which was just rude and disrespectful. So please NEVER adopt from this place. Paula is very rude. read more

As a previous review states, I also found the attitude of the person I dealt with as "haughty". 9 years ago I went a local animal shelter and adopted my precious sunset (calico cat), she was estimated to be 3 years old at the time. She has been a wonderful addition to our family. Sunset is now going on 12 years of age and our family has made the decision to add another feline family member. We thought it would be ideal to have our purrfect cat mentor our new kitten. I completed an application and was contacted about 4 days later. In short, this lady basically said since my elder cat was an inside/outside cat that I cannot be trusted to keep the new addition inside and should contact a kill shelter as she implied these kind of shelter will let anyone have a kitten because they would be killed anyway. I took this very harshly as I take pride in my love for cats and care-giving skills and her statement implied otherwise. I am/was very aware of the different options available to me, even prior to her harsh advice. I was just exploring the different adoptable kittens out there wanting to find one that would be a good fit (for both kitty and us). Luckily, although this organization implied that my home is one step above a kill shelter (which could not be further from the truth) I will not give up on finding our next furever family member using OTHER means available. Granted I just had one single interaction with a single volunteer - but I would still give FUP a negative star if I could, based on attitude alone. Not sure I'm qualified to write a review because our association was very brief. I have a cat who lived across the street. When their house was foreclosed, they asked if I would take their cat. This is a Ragdoll that they'd spent a lot of money on, but couldn't keep. He is a good cat, but I have 3 others and they don't like him. He really wants to be somebody's "one and only." After 2 years I've decided I need to do us all a favor and find him a home where he can be the main attraction. Someone at church recommended FUPI. I used to support them through the Animal Rescue Site because I'm sure there are desperate animals out there who need rescuing. So I went on their website and e-mailed with Paddy's story and picture. Got a reply that they would put him on their "wait list" and take him as soon as their was an opening. I wrote back and said, "no, he can stay with me until you locate the right home for him." The reply I got back was astonishing: "We do not ALLOW owners to foster the cats." Wait, what?? So this cat who is content and well taken care of, cuddled and petted is to be removed from my home and put .... where? In a cage? In a pen? In some kind of temporary facility, perhaps a house with a bunch of other cats to wait an eventual placement?? You're kidding me. This makes no sense. Although I can understand that Foreclosed Upon Pets is just that -- a group that takes abandoned animals and shelters and eventually places them in a "forever home" -- all she had to do was say that. Something like, "it sounds like he's being cared for and so doesn't fit our criteria." It was the haughty attitude that floored me. Very brusque, impatient. I don't think the person I dealt with is well suited to dealing with people. I hope she's better with cats because if she's not, she needs to change careers. read more

Sad to see others had a poor experience--after other agencies had let me down while I was on my way to pick up a pet, FUPI came through when I was looking for my first puppy ever. I found Enzo, my amazing dachshund, when he was just a puppy and Barb made the process so smooth and easy. Barb ensured we had all instructions and records and continued to provide guidance after the adoption. FUPI connected us to the love of our lives and I could not be more grateful. Don't trust these people. We thought we had adopted the dog we have been looking for...but they wanted to do a home visit even though we have had rescue's for over 20 years. We drove to Las Vegas on Saturday just to see Dale, we completed the paperwork and they promised us a phone call on Tuesday when they would bring him to our home. We purchased all new things just for him and were so excited. Then at the last minute on Tuesday they inform us they gave him to someone else because they didn't want to drive to Mesquite. I would have paid their gas if that is what they were worried about. I'm crying as I write this because by tonight I thought I would have my forever dog by my side. They could have told us this last Saturday so we weren't getting ourselves ready for our new dog. No they wait until the day we were supposed to have him in our home. Shame on you.....obviously you know nothing about how people feel about owing and loving a dog. Don't TRUST THEM. read more

This non profit organization FUPI is who rescued my Piggy. He was abandoned with his mama and sister in a garage left behind. The wonderful ladies that went out of their way to do a doggy date brought these two puppies to my home to meet my current Pumpkin. The puppy date went great and we waited for Piggy to get fixed so we could bring him home for good. We picked him up and he n Pumpkin are best friends. Well I don't understand how any animals get adopted thru this agency with such rude "volunteers". We got denied a dog (which is fine) but to then have that "volunteer" proceed to then tell my bf to "man up" and to "be a big boy" is just out right ridiculous! The only reason why I'm giving one star is because if I give none I'm not allowed to leave the review me and my wife and my daughter attempted to adopt an animal from these people just to have some elderly woman come and disrespect my home and my family because it wasn't to her liking I have a block wall in my backyard it is 4 foot tall animal Control says it's high enough but she doesn't she is somebody who has no authority the ladies first name is Paula also she let me and My Wife with the volunteer that she has sit at my house for an hour and a half why she plays ignorant and acts like she doesn't know where my house is when my wife is a stay at home mother who takes care of our house and our child saw her in our neighborhood an hour and a half before she was even supposed to be here I even saw her inside the property gate and drive away and then call from down the street and say she doesn't know where whereat obviously the woman is nothing but a judgment a liar who disrespect people and obviously the other reason is they aren't interested in saving any pets there are most likely just keeping them for themselves the volunteer that she had with her Dennis wolf had no problem with my wife or my daughter or myself or our house and was more than happy to let us adopt the animal he's been a foster care person to just like says on every other review the people that you talk to you don't care they have bad snotty attitude and they are nothing but judge mental I have also filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau maybe she could tell them why our block wall is it high enough but they say it is you can't just be an old lady who sits around and act like scumbag. Yet again another animal that was not allowed a nice loving cared about home and they also let us know the dog has separation anxiety funny how he is allowed to stay at home where the people are gone from 9 to 5 read more
