These guys are super professional. I unfortunately confused them with someone else and they handled it very nicely. I have been wanting to adopt from them and visited a couple times. I have had my eyes on Jerry for the past few months, but it wasn't meant to be. I did get slightly annoyed at some point. I have communicated with them through email previously...so I do have their contact info. I saw a schnauzer and came to meet him. I arrived a little early since it was first come first serve, but miraculously someone else was ahead of me. I really should have emailed first. They couldn't make it, so I got to adopt the most adorable and sweetest boy ever. I am over the moon. I am thankful for this rescue. read more

I adopted my pup from A Path For Paws and had a great experience! The volunteers are clearly passionate and very active in the adoption process. They took the time to talk with me and answer my questions--even when things got a little busy, they still made an effort, which I really appreciated. It's clear the dogs are well socialized, and my new pup adjusted quickly and comfortably at home. A really thoughtful touch was that he came with 30 days of medical assistance and the cutest little goodie bag. If you're looking to adopt, definitely check them out. I've been volunteering with this rescue since November and have been a foster since this recent December 2023. The volunteers here really care and love the pups. They, get to know each dog so when families come in to adopt them into their homes they know what each pup's personalities are like and what their triggers may be. I've fostered 2 puppies and 3 Great Pyrenees. You can volunteer to walk the dogs on Saturday or Sundays. They have littles, mediums and large doggies. The adoption center is open Saturday and Sundays 10am-4pm and the pups are there to meet and greet. On their website are all the dogs available for adoption so if there is someone you want to meet, be sure to reach out to the email and ask about the pup so they will be at the adoption center on Sat or Sun. All the dogs are fixed/neutered when adopted out, they are all up to date on their shots and they are all microchipped. Highly recommend looking for your next furry friend elsewhere. We put in an application for a dog the night before the adoption event. Got responses and issues with our application because I stated we owned the home when we don't legally. It's a family home but I didn't feel the need to explain our unique situation with the home, but had to anyway. We then got more responses until nothing. Conversations were one sided and all responses stopped. I called a couple times and texted. Nothing. As the close of the adoption event came near, I called again on a different phone wondering if they were intentionally ignoring me. They picked up on the first ring and finally told me that the dog we applied for THE NIGHT BEFORE was adopted that morning but another one similar to it is available. I expressed my frustration and sadness because we were so excited and involved in the application the night before. I asked how much the "new" dog was and she expressed that she'd have to email me. She's busy. So I sent another email asking if that's part of the process that in person applications can bump previous applications. Which then apparently she wasn't busy anymore because she called me accusing me of being passive aggressive and was raising her voice at me telling me they are busy. I tried to calm her down and explain that although it's a job to her, people on the other end of applications get excited and get their hopes up and it was very sad and disappointing to lose out on a dog that we were actively communicating about and then to not even be told the dog was taken. It was heartbreaking. She continued interrogating me about the house and trying to blame the situation on that. Still refusing to answer my questions about the new dog. She finally hung up on me. :( Honestly this is truly why people shop rather than adopt. I talked with another organization who we also know and they told us that organizations LIKE this one get the animals from the shelter and then rehome them. Also I noticed that the adopting fees at the shelter are significantly lower than organizations similar to this one. Which means they do make a profit which then is the same as a breeder who also pays for food and board and shots for their puppies before selling them. So these organizations are possibly doing the same thing as breeders just at a lower scale and lower numbers. Not sure if that's how this one works but every time I go to the shelter, I find aggressive dogs or very old dogs. And usually these organizations have all the younger, family dogs. Organizations like this seem to like to play God. They hold so much over your head and interrogate your whole life. You're completely at their mercy and they hold so much power over you. I understand the questions to a point but to "adopt and not shop" is a taxing and emotional and disappointing outcome everytime. Whether or not my grandmother lives with us or not and whether or not we own or not or doesn't dictate who we are as pet owners. And EVERY experience I've had with the ones who run these organizations are that they very much know they hold the power and if you don't act a certain way or bow down to them they won't let you adopt. And also you can't even express how upset you are for missing out on a dog that they knew you were in the process of adopting without being called with aggression. For families who want a beautiful adoption story, good luck finding it here. They are rude, the application process is brutal, and they will still adopt your dog to someone else without you knowing. These organizations stand on "adoption stories" and how beautiful it is to adopt. Maybe for them, but not for the people attempting to adopting. I'm guessing she denied us an opportunity to adopt based on me expressing my feelings on her adopting the dog we wanted. Because if it was based on my application, why would she suggest me adopt a different dog with them? Edit: highly recommend reading the rest of the reviews especially on google about the owner. They back up my story as well. Lots of people encountered awful things there. And were very disrespected and disappointed. Selling dogs behind someone who is in the process of adopting was also a reoccurring theme. Skip this place to avoid the anxiety of losing out on the dog you have your heart set on. Skip it if you don't want your entire life to be interrogated. Skip it if you don't want to be called and yelled at because of your hurt feelings. If I could give this place a lower score I would. I have been rescuing dogs for 30 years and never have I met such incompetent people in all my life. I wanted to adopt a female dog, and was kept waiting 2 hours to be told I couldn't even see the puppy because I already have 2 females at home. I was told female to female do not get along and I would just end up returning the puppy. These people are idiots. I have had female and male rescues all my life and never had an issue. Pack animals establish an order in their pack, and as humans we have to allow that. This rescue needs to be reported and checked out for violations. The poor animals Saturday were scared, shaking and fighting in small cages. These people don't need to be allowed to do what they are doing. They do not have the experience, integrity or concern for dogs they are letting on like they have. If you are looking to adopt avoid A Path for Paws at all costs. read more

Went today 11/3/24 to look at a puppy I wasn't helped was told I couldn't visit with puppy until I filled out an application which other patrons were coming in mind you they were not of color wasn't given the same treatment and was allowed to visit with the pet of their choice. I was also told I needed to wear gloves no other visitors were asked that. Such a horrible experience wouldn't recommend this place to anyone of color clearly they cater only to a certain group. I had my two small daughters with me who didn't understand why we were not able to visit with the puppy we were interested in. So sad. They experienced rascism first hand. read more

Whoever I spoke to was very rude. I was thinking of taking my pet here to be re-homed. Instead I found a nice couple willing to take my dog and I tried to explain this to the person in charge of their adoption event and they were less than appropriate. If I tell you that I already found my dog a home, that should be the end of the discussion. No this lady wanted to argue me down and try to make me feel bad that she left her dog at home. Not sure what you leaving your dog home has to do with anything. That's where your dog should be when you are at work. Get a grip! read more

You people said she's house trained and friendly and also two years old... She is none of the above... My vet said she's 4-5 years old ..and she's aggressive towards everybody and poops and pees all over my house so you need to get it together and just say unknown because it's not fair... read more
