The course is just as beautiful as 2003. Plush fairways. Nice greens and real sand in bunkers. Beautiful Catskill views. So many of the staff remembered me. They are just as nice as I remembered. I will be playing once a week again, at my favorite course. So worth the drive from Westchester NY. Returned 7/31/18 and the round was 3 hours and 13 mins. Walking That is unbelievable for such a beautiful public course.

I only got to play the back 9 because the weather started acting up again, but it was a really nice place to be. Their website lays out what you need to have to demonstrate you are a tourist. We weren't asked to show papers or anything, hey, this is chilled out Woodstock NY for God's sake! We used the putting green and had fun practicing our strokes. They don't have tee times so guests are asked to call in to see what times are good times for guests. First priority goes to members. The course is well taken care of and seems to have some challenging spots. It's mostly flat which is good for sight lines and for seeing your ball and the flags. They have plenty of golf carts. There is also a restaurant attached . Nice people work there.

It is fun and challenging, not to mention very nicely maintained and an absolute bargain. If you play the blues it's still pretty tough for an average golfer (#3 plays ~200 yards for a par 3, for example). The namesake hill on #8 is downright nasty, and you have zero chance of getting on the green in 1 no matter how big a hitter you are so you have to lay up at the bottom of the hill and then rocket one up there to have a chance. I am a huge huge fan.

And after just one visit here I'm upset I never tried this sooner. The staff here is really friendly and helpful and will be glad to answer any questions. I was also skeptical of these simulators, I didn't expect it would be very fun or engaging, but it is. I just did the driving range simulator, where you hit off of an automated tee. Great setup and it lets you concentrate on hitting the ball. I'm as much of a beginner as they come, but even after just one session, I have noticeably improved and can't wait to come back. I was here with my 7 year old and we both had a great time. Great for families as well. Great vibe here. Highly recommended. Price is good as well.

The rest is card only or you can bill to your room. That is all you need to enjoy Villa Roma. We stayed in the hotel, on the Futura wing. Rooms were far enough back to be peaceful and had a small balcony perfect for the free morning coffee (in the morning at 7:30am across from the elevators, main floor). We had the all inclusive plan which provided a wristband. Included was most activities, as well as breakfast and dinner in the main dining room on the third floor. Food: so good. See the pictures. I was shocked. You know how lunch wasn't included ? Well I wasted a lb of coldcuts I brought with me because dinner is a feast! Portions are epic and the food is delicious. You'll be having your left overs for lunch the next day. Drinks besides water are not included so bring up your room card or credit card if you'd like some wine. Breakfast, it's a buffet. It's pancakes, cinnamon French toast, eggs, potatoes, danish, oatmeal, juices, pastries and an omelet bar. Entertainment- I was lucky enough to be there on one of the nights Keith Doughtery's production of, "The Souprano's: Villa Roma or Bust," was performed in the forum. Soo hilarious and interactive ! I mean, belly laughs! The next day he also led the sip n paint. My daughter is non verbal and I was really worried about meeting her sensory needs on this trip. There is an entire inflatable bounce room yall! She loved it! We played in the kiddie pool area. Then we went to the game room to do the craft (she made a visor) which was very nice. Also the game room has a smaller play area for the toddlers, she was a bit too small for the big slides in the playground (she caught some radical air though!). Everyone I spoke with was a Villa Roma regular, ready to share stories and experiences. One of the highlights was a dance party at night on the mezzanine (personally my favorite area, have an espresso martini and look out on the entire property from the balcony). My parents came with us and did the zip line, archery and lounged by the pool. We just got back and are thinking about Christmas time...
