We have been coming to Villa Roma since 2019 during the Summer and we love it, although it has definitely gone downhill because we do have a fun time during the Summer, and we decided to try and come here for New Year's Eve. We were all so excited! We arrived today and it is not at all what we expected. There is only one word to describe this trip so far "FREEZING"!!! Everybody is walking around in jackets and ski caps, or have heavy blankets wrapped around them. The halls feel like a morgue. We just came from the nightclub and everyone was complaining about how freezing cold it is. I actually saw children crying and their parents had to take them out. My daughter and I tried staying for the show, but had to walk out because we couldn't take it anymore. You have to be so happy if you happen to run across a small area of the hallways that has a "warm spot". ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? We spent over $700 a night for this New Year's Eve event and we can't even enjoy it. How can you run a hotel like this and expect people to ever come back? It's a disgrace!!!! For all the money I spent and I have to get sick, and now my daughter has a sore throat! Not to mention, I was in shock when they told me I have to pay for the New Year's Eve party after the dinner. WHAT?!!! I was never told that when I made my reservation. I am now so disgusted with this place and my heart is breaking because we truly loved it. Definitely going to look for other options from now on. Who knew I'd be spending my time in a freezer, and now I'm in my hotel room instead of being in the nightclub. THIS IS WHAT I SAVED UP MY MONEY FOR?! Another thing to add on because, we had to go to our room instead of the freezing nightclub we thought we'd get some snacks at the very least to have in the room. We had a great time for the murder mystery weekend with our kids and would definitely come back for the murder mystery weekend. Not sure if we would come back for more than a weekend as they're renovating so a lot of the activities were unavailable during our stay and the kids would potentially get bored however would absolutely consider bringing the kids back again for a weekend once renovation is complete. read more

Friendly staff everywhere, including the ski area. Breakfast & dinner were included in our stay and the food was very good and plentiful. They apparently host many school trips and there were many HS aged people there. This was not an issue during our stay but staff told me they have had groups who have trashed the place. Very disappointing. Very poor dining experience when you have to argue with the Maître d' over your seating arrangements. Games and contents failed to have any equipment available in a timely manner. No paddle for pickleball or they are damaged. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. My stay at Villa Roma Resort was nothing short of a complete disaster. From the moment I walked in, I felt like I had stepped into some rundown, forgotten relic from the 1970s -- and not in a charming, retro way. This place is filthy, poorly maintained, and laughably overpriced for the dump that it is. Let's start with the room: disgusting. It smelled like mildew and disappointment. The carpet was stained, the furniture was falling apart, and I genuinely questioned whether the sheets had been changed. There was a kicked-in door that looked like it had been patched up by a blind raccoon. The TV didn't work, the bed was broken and slanted like a death trap, and to top it all off, the toilet seat was cracked -- I mean, how do you even let that go ignored? Ever sat on a toilet seat that's pinching your leg because it's broken? Not exactly a spa experience. Then there's the "arcade" -- what a joke. Most of the machines were either out of order or gladly stole your tokens without delivering a second of entertainment. No refunds, no apologies. Just more evidence that the owners don't care about guest experience -- only your money. And speaking of people who don't care: the staff. Wow. I've never encountered a ruder, more indifferent group of employees in my life. Every interaction felt like I was inconveniencing them by simply existing. No one smiled. No one apologized. I could've sworn one front desk person actually rolled their eyes when I complained -- as if they'd heard it all before and just didn't give a damn. The whole place feels like it's just coasting on the fumes of better days. It's clearly neglected, outdated, and understaffed by people who would rather be anywhere else. Don't waste your time, your money, or your sanity. This is not a resort -- it's a borderline scam. Avoi myd Villa Roma like the plague. Stay literally anywhere else. On July 7, 2024 we had our wedding at the Clubhouse at the Villa Roma and everything went perfectly. Cheryl Dunne and her staff were amazing we couldn't be any happier with the service. The food was delicious and we received many compliments on it. We would also like to thank the bar staff they were great also. The Wedding Cake looked amazing and tasted great and was also made by the Villa Roma baker and we cannot thank her enough. Pack a nice outfit for dinner, bathing suit, your toiletries and a couple tops and bottoms. A little cash for tips and some off the cuff fun games. The rest is card only or you can bill to your room. That is all you need to enjoy Villa Roma. We stayed in the hotel, on the Futura wing. Rooms were far enough back to be peaceful and had a small balcony perfect for the free morning coffee (in the morning at 7:30am across from the elevators, main floor). We had the all inclusive plan which provided a wristband. Included was most activities, as well as breakfast and dinner in the main dining room on the third floor. Food: so good. See the pictures. I was shocked. You know how lunch wasn't included ? Well I wasted a lb of coldcuts I brought with me because dinner is a feast! Portions are epic and the food is delicious. You'll be having your left overs for lunch the next day. Drinks besides water are not included so bring up your room card or credit card if you'd like some wine. Breakfast, it's a buffet. It's pancakes, cinnamon French toast, eggs, potatoes, danish, oatmeal, juices, pastries and an omelet bar. Entertainment- I was lucky enough to be there on one of the nights Keith Doughtery's production of, "The Souprano's: Villa Roma or Bust," was performed in the forum. Soo hilarious and interactive ! I mean, belly laughs! The next day he also led the sip n paint. My daughter is non verbal and I was really worried about meeting her sensory needs on this trip. There is an entire inflatable bounce room yall! She loved it! We played in the kiddie pool area. Then we went to the game room to do the craft (she made a visor) which was very nice. Also the game room has a smaller play area for the toddlers, she was a bit too small for the big slides in the playground (she caught some radical air though!). Everyone I spoke with was a Villa Roma regular, ready to share stories and experiences. One of the highlights was a dance party at night on the mezzanine (personally my favorite area, have an espresso martini and look out on the entire property from the balcony). The hotel is in great need of renovation. The hallways are malodorous and it doesn't smell like cleaning fluids. Our room was unlocked by an actual key. There was an apparatus attached to the door that appeared to use key cards previously. After entering the room, we noticed our door doesn't latch. In order to stay shut it has to be bolted. First they gave us a room that was never cleaned.. people's food etc left behind, so do they even change sheets or anything? Then their solution is give us keys to a room with a family still in it that we had to walk in on. Their excuse it's a busy weekend! Ladies at the front desk were terrible/unfriendly/unpleasant people. To top it off nothing they advertise is open! Indoor pool, nope. This place is horrid. We paid $600 for the night and I feel like I'm in a 1980's sitcom. One thing is worse than the next. All the so called activities are across the street. They have an arcade that is nasty along with a completely empty area. It is depressing at best. The bowling alley has 6 lanes and was closed for the employees dinner. Stayed mid-May for a quiet getaway with my husband. The resort needs an upgrade.. the gym was sad, and landscaping is non-existent. However, hanging said that, if you're looking for a place to chill and you have little ones, this might work for you. Indoor and outdoor pool (outdoor opens Memorial Day week) , bowling on premises, raceway, nightly entertainment and a great place to eat also on-site And more importantly to me, it was CLEAN and everyone was friendly and helpful. If I could give them zero stars, I could. This is a run down, poorly run property with poor customer service. We arrived to find our room 236 has no shelves in the little refrigerator and clogged sinks -- one takes almost 30 seconds to drain. We arrived in the afternoon and tried to tun on the TV this evening. There are two TVs, one in the bedroom and one in the sitting room. There is a TV remote in the sitting room. It does not work. The "light" button doesn't light up the controls, indicating a dead battery. The remote for the bedroom TV is missing. We cannot turn on the TV manually because the cable box has no ON switch - you have to use the remote. The TV power switch is recessed under the bezel. We turned on the TV and got "No Signal" on a blue screen. We called the front desk several times and staff finally came after an hour with a new remote and programmed it to the TV. Other issues: it would be nice to have a nightstand on each side of the double bed -- this is standard in all motels/hotels. The lamp on the dresser in the bedroom is not plugged in, because there is no available outlet behind the dresser -- just a duplex outlet in use for the TV and the cable box. How hard would it be to put a cube tap on the outlet? UPDATE NEXT DAY: Staff came and serviced the clogged sinks. On the plus side, the room has new carpet which is very nice. read more

I did not think the staff were very helpful or friendly and not informative, no signs telling us where to go, our room was not in the main building. Our phone did not work, the bathroom toilet was not connected to the floor and never told us there was another side to our room meaning a kitchen. None of the activities we're going on, looked like there were plenty of things to do but not open. I'm going to make excuses! We are currently staying at the timeshare section of the resort. I DO NOT RECOMMEND coming here as a timeshare holder! The building equipment is broken, dirty, or simply unavailable. The doors to patios are not repaired, torn screens, bad carpet with duck tape trying to hold it together. They give you an ice bucket in the rooms but no ice in the building-you have to walk all the way down the road, across the street into the main building to get ice! An ice tray is provided but good luck getting any ice to come out it. On the bright side, there are plenty of activities to do especially for little ones except access to the outside pool because although the weather is very hot, upper 80's, the pool is closed and no workout room available either. If you stay at the hotel side in the main building it seems you have access to more items, but without being in the rooms, I can't say if the insides are better. read more

Shocking that this place has not been shut down by the state health department. Stayed one night in a room in which I slept in my shoes due to the filthy carpets, sheets, & shower. Demanded a refund the following morning and moved to a motel down the road. Black mold throughout. Wish I could post pictures here! Truly a shocking experience. read more

Heidi and Adam took care of our needs for over 72 hours and they went above and beyond to make us comfortable and welcomed. Our event at the Clubhouse at Villa Roma was excellent! We began planning our event a year ahead of time. Cheryl Dunne and the rest of the staff were helpful and pleasant, making sure that everything flowed smoothly throughout the night. The food was terrific, and got many compliments from our party. We had the choice of the number and setup of tables, as well as whether or not we wanted the dance floor. The dining area and cocktail bar were clean and comfortable, and the furnishings were arranged so that everyone could easily mingle and visit. The event started promptly and our hostess, Cheryl, and Tyrone and staff were available within minutes if we had any questions or needed any assistance. Our buffet choices were served hot, and the line moved quickly, never running out. The new bathrooms near the dining area are appreciated, a huge plus! We remember the location of the previous ones were not as convenient. Cheryl is a great asset, helping to plan logistics for everything, including a TV setup we used to display our group's photographs (using our own tablet). We highly recommend this venue for a party or get together. read more

We're timeshare owners and have been coming to Villa Roma for 15+ years. We have an "off season" week at the start of the summer which means it is less crowded, but there are also fewer activities going on. As others have mentioned, the resort is in need of a lot repair and maintenance. A lot of the photos on their website are older so be warned. Our unit, had a lamp with a broken knob that didn't allow it to be turned on, the AC unit was loud, there were several bugs and spiders that made their way into the unit and some windows no longer opened (or couldn't be shut if you did open them). The furniture in the unit is quite old and has been well used. While the unit has AC in each room, it is quite damp and you notice it when you sit on the furniture and your swimsuit never quite dries. The patio has a few plastic chairs on it which were in acceptable condition, but the wood railings were wobbly and falling apart. All of the appliances were in working condition. The wifi in our unit was very poor and would disconnect frequently. Verizon cell phone service is not strong. We mainly use the pool when we go. The pools themselves were fine and there were life guards on duty. The pool area could be spiffed up. Many of the pool chairs were worn and dirty. They are the same ones that have been there for years. Towels are available for use at the pool, but they are fairly thin so you may want to bring some of your own. I've heard if you go during the "on" season you need to arrive to the pool early to save chairs as they fill up quick. The activities and grounds also could use some work. There used to be lots of activities to do throughout the week, but now it seems like the same activities are repeated every day-sometimes twice a day. The roads have a lot of pot holes and there is a lot of weeding and mowing that could be done on the property. All of that being said, it is a good place for families with kids to gather and hang out if you don't mind some older facilities. There are lot areas for small groups to sit and eat or play games. read more

On May 6th 2023 I had the pleasure of having an event at the Villa Roma Club House in Callicoon, New York. Cheryl Dunn and her staff were excellent. From beginning to the day of Cheryl was cooperative , helpful and went above a beyond to make sure our event was just as we wanted. From the menu to the decorating she made it happen for us.
