Rented one of the reverse living units for the month of February 2023. The Good Stuff This is an excellent location with a great view of Sarasota Bay/Bird Island that has a sunrise view and loads of wildlife. It is within walking distance of 3 nice restaurants and convenient beach access. The staff was quite friendly. The Bad Stuff 1. For the first two weeks the adjoining duplex unit took advantage of the "fur-baby" policy and brought 2 dogs that barked. A lot. All accompanied by the owners yelling at the dogs to not bark. 2. The unit is old and has a beaten down look to it with lights that stayed on all the time, ones that didn't work at all and other work that looked as though it was done by armatures that watched You Tube videos to try their hand a DIY work 3. The unit is decorated in an early-attic, late basement, rummage sale motif. Although the bed was comfortable and the downstairs den was decent, everything else was low-end 4. The kitchen could only seat 4 and was ill equipped with utensils, cookware and china which had the rummage sale-goodwill store feel. The bad stuff noted above is all predicated on the eye-popping cost of $646/day ($18,000 for the month). Based on the cost we expected a much better unit and experience. From other review it appear that most people stayed for long weekends in the cottage units which I presume are in better shape, however, our experience in the duplex was not worth the money. read more

The personality of this place is just busting at the seams! This is a little and gem and one of the best kept secrets of Sarasota. They offer every sort of fun amenity they can possibly think of including fishing poles and even bait traps, canoes, kayaks, there is a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, even swings & lawn chairs so you can sit out on the dock to watch the sunset! The manager is a throwback today's when customer service still mattered. In our particular case, we were picking up a boat in Sarasota and transporting it home. We asked if we could keep our boat at the dock after we left, and they accommodated graciously. I seriously haven't seen that kind of customer service since before all the Covid madness! And all with an upbeat attitude and friendly smile but honestly catches you off guard because so many businesses have lost this. Mind you this little inn is quaint... but it deserves five stars for its mighty efforts to be accommodating, clean and fun! When we are back in Sarasota we will definitely stay there! read more

We stayed here for a 40th birthday weekend. We had 3 cottages all with great views of the bay. The common areas were amazing for hanging out by the water and even a few dinners. They provide kayaks we used to check out nearby mangroves and look for manatees. Fishing poles provided with a nearby bait shop to catch fish, we caught about 10 in one night. Dolphins were easily spotted from our front porch every morning. We enjoyed naps on our private hammock and even took a dip in our hot tub. The kids loved the pool while the adults hung out nearby. The room was a bit old Florida with decor. The staff were friendly and helpful with recommendations for nearby dining. We will definitely put this in our list of must return resorts. read more

We found TB resort by chance! The property is quaint and truly delivers that good old Florida lifestyle of sun, salt, and relaxation. The kAyaks were a plus, and the "secret" beach was over the top beautiful! We stayed in the Jasmine cottage and it was stocked with all you need for R&R! We brought our dog and she was welcomed throughout the property. Sitting on the deck and watching the beautiful birds, dolphins, and manatees was amazing! Walking distance to 3 restaurants is a plus however we brought our own food and enjoyed grilling and sharing good times with other guests! I had an overall great time here...until my departure. Upon arriving to the airport after check out, I realized that I had left my very expensive shoes in my room. I gave them the exact location where I left them and was told to call back. I called back only to be told that the shoes that I KNOW I left were not there, but that they did find the tights that I left. I've called numerous times to try to speak with managers who are always busy and never return my calls. Even the "Guest Relations Officer" refuses to answer. If you want your stuff stolen and for the hotel to pretend as if nothing ever happened, this is the place to stay! read more

I surprised my girlfriend with a quick get-away trip to Siesta Key and had the pleasure of staying at the Turtle Beach Resort. As soon as you walk in you cannot help but feel tranquil and serene. The landscaping and entire presentation was peaceful. Our cottage was pleasant, having our own kitchen and eating area was very convenient. The views?? Amazing. Waking up every morning ocean side with our own dock and jacuzzi facing the water was fantastic. The only downside was the activity equipment needs updating. When I expressed my concern to ownership, my feedback was heard and I was told that they will be updating the equipment relatively soon. The fact that my feedback taken seriously really shows how much ownership cares about their customers and it ensured that I will be returning again on my next visit to Siesta Key. I visited this summer and stayed for one week. I stayed in Key West which has two bedrooms, an open floor plan with a kitchen table, kitchen area, and living area, hot tub, hammock, porch with a table and an additional table near the hammock and hot tub. The bedrooms were good size with spacious closets(enough room for vacation stay), dressers, a TV, and ceiling fan. The kitchen cabinets looked recently remodeled and there was an electric stove and stainless steel refrigerator. What I look for in a place is enough space to feel comfortable with other guests around, cleanliness, and up to date appliances. Not necessarily big on state of the art or top of the line but working condition and made within the last 5-7 years. The bathroom was nice but small(not enough room for two people to be in at one time comfortably such as if one person wanted to brush their teeth while another person wanted to utilize the hair dryer attached to the wall) and it had a shower but no bath which was fine for us but again something others may need and or want. The interior provided everything I look for and I felt it was clean. One thing I'll mention is the place I stayed did not have a dishwasher which wasn't a big deal to us but could be to others. We used their chairs and umbrellas. They were satisfactory. Some of the chairs had more rust than others and parts of the umbrellas poles had rust on them as well. We used their bikes which were in okay condition. In addition, we utilized their kayaks and one was in good shape while the other had a seat with a broken strap but otherwise in working condition(3 kayaks total available for use and a canoe). The hot tub was newer looking, clean, and able to be used in sun or light rain as there is a roof overtop. We prepared a couple dinners on the outdoor gas grill which had an extra propane tank available for when the current one ran out. The pool was nice and there were plenty of comfortable furniture to sit on in different areas around the pool. I also used the swing on the deck a couple times which was nice but could use a new paint job and showed rust on the chains. All in all I recommend this place and would stay here again. I think some of their outdoor physical equipment could use some extra tlc but to us it wasn't enough to worry about. It was especially nice to stay at a place that had all the amenities and activities provided to utilize at our leisure and the landscaping surrounding the buildings is beautiful. read more

Wow this place was fab. Went here on our anniversary and had a blast. It was in a perfect place. It was walking distance to a couple of restaurants and you could take a canoe across the little lake to the small strip of land that on the other side was the most beautiful ocean. We had our own hot tub!!!! You felt like you were alone because each room was so private. It was so relating and a perfect little place to get away to. read more

We stayed here for my birthday last year for two days and it was amazing. Across the street from the most beautiful beaches in the world on a canal. They supply all the fishing equipment, Canoes,BBQ,everything. The pool overlooks the water and its just beautiful:) and pet friendly. I think I will go back this year again. The staff was so amazing and helped with everything we could have wanted. Its truly a special place. I took a long needed nap in a hammock a quick stint in the hot tub and back to the beach! Paradise. If you like hanging outside in a hammock, sitting on a swing on a dock overlooking the bay, kayaking through the mangroves or to a private beach, fishing, or relaxing by the pool then this is the place for you. There's so much life in the bay that this resort sits on. The mullet continuously are jumping out of the water. You can see schools of fish everywhere around the grass beds and sandbars. We saw dolphin feeding this morning 100 feet off the dock. We caught 2 keeper drum right off the docks. They have grills right there so you can cook your catch if you're up for it. The staff was great! They were extremely friendly and helpful with any questions we had. We've vacationed in Siesta Key and Turtle Beach many times and this is our favorite spot. We would definitely return. Keep in mind, they have 2 locations. One family friendly and one that's more geared towards couples. We stayed in the more family friendly one with our young kids and close friends and their child. read more

This property is in a good location. It is a very worn down property and needs vast improvement. It could be awesome, but is not. The unit we were in is called Montego on the water front of the bay and was infested with bugs. So disappointing! Also window covering broke and wires free hanging. We checked out early. Suggestion: look at the property and unit prior to staying. read more

We where gone for 10 minutes and wanted to go back. This is a great get away at a very reasonable price for the area and for all they offer. The staff is great. Very helpful and friendly. When you first walk into this place you are automatically transformed into vacation mode with the tropical ambiance that surrounds you and the beautiful views of the water in front of you. They provide canoes, kayaks, fishing poles and bait, bikes, beach chairs, and beach toys as well as as many towels as you need. There's several spots by the water to just sit and relax. And the sunrise is beautiful coming across the bay. We will definitely be back and have already told all our friends to go. read more

I had a great time here. This is an interesting "resort" and worth a visit. Every room has a private outdoor jacuzzi and patio and it is very quiet. It is a really relaxing place to get away from everything in your life for a few days. The resort and inn owners are very friendly and do a good job at keeping the place clean and pleasant. There are also free kayaks and bikes and other things that you can use to explore Siesta Key. I will go back. Very nice place. read more

Overall this was a great experience. The pictures are a little deceiving, it is a nice private area, but the rooms are right next to each other. I went on a slow time so there weren't many people there the time I was there and it was very nice. The staff is insanely friendly and is what I feel made it worth while. It was also very nice having free usage of certain things like the kayaks, canoes, fishing poles, etc. There is some good fishing there, my girlfriend and I caught quite a few fish while we were there. I recommend getting some live bait (shrimp), it makes a huge difference. Some of the staff there know how to fillet the fish also, so you can keep what you catch. The only downside I would say is the place could use a little RNR. There were a lot of minor things that were quite obvious that could easily be fixed by the staff for very minimal cost. read more

`Mixed feelings about the Resort and the Inn. Would do a 3.5 stars, but want to nudge this business to be bit more attentive. I thought I had booked a cottage with porch and water view at the Resort. But when we arrived discovered had assigned us to the Inn across the street & down 5 doors.. Had I checked my Hotels.com reservation carefully I would have realized this assignment. So my bad in a way. The point is their website suggest two distinct properties, but they might book you in either, depending on availability or ...whim? The Inn's plusses: dockfront on lagoon's end, a short bike ride or kayak paddle to get to Turtle Beach Park. There was a private hot tub outdoors in our sheltered deck area. No view of water from there. Unlike at Resort. The Inn is noticeably less well landscaped and maintained than the Resort. The wood floors and trim outside need replacing in parts: maybe the exposure to ocean side means more storm wear? The Resort has a nicer larger, more 'green' view from dock/pool: the wide lagoon and mangrove islands. The Resort supposedly has kids and Inn not, but we didn't see any kids at either over 4 nights. Both places are little funky or rustic, so not pretentious. Think Gilligan's Island in a fun way. The location of both are its largest asset. Each quiet, each on different lagoons, we enjoyed the free bikes and beach chairs and umbrellas. Quiet end of island & quiet lodging unlike crowded noisy Siesta Key Village. Much fewer people and more shells on Turtle Beach. You have nearby access to miles and miles of beach, including undeveloped preserve to the south. a place across lagoon also rents (nicer) kayaks, tandems and SUPs too. No eateries on this beach here but clean safe public restroom, shelter. Two restaurants are within walking or bike distance 500-1500' from lodging. The free trolley stops 500' from the Inn. (A tip is appreciated) A great idea to avoid congestion in Village. Our room/patio could use a little TLC: bit of carpentry work. Overall the Inn could use a little more attention: Our hot tub lost its cover (new one ordered) so the evaporating tub kicked on the reboot for full jets & heat and woke us at night. Sounded like a rain storm. Then the dropped water level made a snoring sound the next night at 3am..for 3 hours til we got up and corrected it. Wish TB offered recycling. A note about laid back casual Siesta Key and the Village: It does seem about 80% over the age of 65, even at night, and it is 98% white (really) with a few speaking French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and rough guess, 60% from the Midwest. Happy Hours at eateries start early, think 3pm for some, and offer good savings. The lack of diversity was a surprise, given where we come from. Yet people are friendly. Best meals: Bonjour Cafe: very friendly, am or lunch only. Made in Roma gelato is authentic and great staff. Delicious. SKOB's pork tacos - yes, they area seafood pub. Siesta Key Beach near Village down to Point of Rocks is that fine white sand and no slope and 1-5' shallow out to 1000'. But many beach walkers, sunners between Village and Point of Rocks. Turtle Beach to south has a less fine, gray white sand, more shells, more slope on land, still quite shallow, less people and perfectly AOK. No lifeguards, but hey this is the shallow Gulf. All beaches were noticeably clean of trash: thank you Sarasota County. Florida oddity: 500 people walking or sunning on beach during the day. 75 degrees. Nice gentle body surfing waves one day, fun sandbars to WALK out to, and maybe 10 people in only slightly cool sea. No riptides seen or experienced. No red tide worries this week. read more

Went for birthday trip and was not disappointed. Stayed in jasmine cottage and was able to bring dog who was very happy. They have an incredible pool and many activities to keep you entertained. Canoes, kayaks, bikes and fishing poles. The manager and owners are so helpful and kind and make a point to make sure you are happy and welcome. We arrived somewhere between 9-10pm on 3/25/17 - our wedding day. We had let the office know we would be arriving after hours. As they said, there was an envelope on the office door with our name. We had trouble finding our room as it was located on the Inn side while the office was located on the Resort side. That was mostly our fault for not reading carefully, but a map with "you are here" pointing to where our room was in relation to the office, would have been helpful. We finally arrived at our room. It was unlocked as the note said it would be. When we opened the door to the Sunset Suite, we were hit with a wave of warm air. (It was in the low 70's outside.) It only took a moment to realize the a/c was broken as it was 82 degrees inside but set on 73. We called Erik at the number listed on the sheet. While we waited for someone to arrive, we looked around. The facility was ok... but definitely more dated than the pictures on the website showed. One of the fans in the bedroom was very rickety and loud, but that would have been ok if the air had worked. It didn't take too long for Dave, the owner, to show up to take a look at the a/c. Knowing we were newly weds, he made an off-color joke about us being the reason the place was so hot. That was not okay! He made some comment that made us think he knew there was a problem with the air before we arrived. My new husband said something about "his people" (the staff) should have alerted him that there was a problem with the a/c. Dave responded that he doesn't have people - he has sub-humans. I was done from that moment on. Who talks about their employees like that? Not only was the room run down, the a/c didn't work, the very personal off-color joke, but Dave treated his employees - the people that do the daily grind so he can make money - with such disrespect behind their backs! After giving him about half an hour, it was decided that the air could not be fixed that night. Dave's suggestion was that we open the windows - of our room - on our wedding night... Um, no thank you. I was so disappointed that our honeymoon started off so poorly. But, what I didn't know was that this was a blessing. Had the air worked, we would have stayed there - in that run down room on the bay. Instead, we had an amazing gulf-front honeymoon at Tradewind's Guy Harvey Outpost in St. Pete. Our deposit was refunded without incident. That's about the only positive thing I can say about Turtle Beach Resort & Inn. read more

My grown daughter and I stayed here two weeks ago. We were looking for an escape from cold New Hampshire and simply unwind. This delivered in spades. If one is looking for a 5 star, amenity galore "resort" than this would not be for you. However if one wants views, tranquility, superb service and access to a quaint Island this is for us! We stayed in the Caribbean Cottage complete with our own private dock and hot tub. I could have stayed for weeks. The kitchen had everything one needed to prepare meals and everything was a quick, charming trolley ride away. Staff and owners are beyond courteous. I will be back!! Often. My wife and I started here for a couple of days for our anniversary. The staff was friendly, the area gorgeous, the room was pleasant and private. It had a private outdoor area with its own hot tub. I just had to cancel my reservation. They charged $150 fee to cancel even though I cancelled two and 1/2 months before my reservation. They indicated the fee is in all their information about reservation cancellations. I got the name from Fodor's, there was no mention of an extreme fee for cancelling. Its my fault for not reading about the cancellation policy. However, the fee appears to be an indication they are not really concerned about customers or potential customers only about bringing in cash. If there is any possibility in the world you may need to cancel your reservation, stay somewhere else. read more

DO NOT BOOK A ROOM HERE! They Tried to price gouge me when the hurricane hit called the hotel and stated that they would refund my money and they never did, called after that no one answered. Initially hotels.com (whom I booked the room through) called them and told me that the manager did not wish to refund my money for the hotel despite the hurricane and offered no reason why. Then Had my credit card company call them and filed a dispute, said they would put the money back on within a 15 day time frame. A month has passed and still no refund, very dishonest. Make sure if you want to stay here you are absolutely sure and don't cancel because you will pay dearly for it. read more

Amazing place with probably the most serene and private views just across the street from Turtle Beach. What I like about this place is that it is unique and feels like your own personal oasis on siesta key. Close enough to the beach and also a short drive to the Siesta Village. If you want a relaxing and restoring experience this is the place to go! read more

The staff was very helpful. Gardens were beautiful. Jacuzzi's were in bad working condition. $300 a night I expect a working Jacuzzi.
