For our anniversary we stayed at this charming bungalow with great character. It's brick pathways, pool, quaint beach and a dock right on Heron Lagoon. We stayed in the Ringling bungalow with its own private deck with propane BBQ facing feet from the lagoon. They offered free beach towels, beach umbrellas and beach chairs for our use. The kitchen is equipment with the basic things we needed. The beautiful beaches, stores, restaurants were nearby. We had a very memorable stay and plan on booking next year's anniversary in this sweet escape. We highly recommend this quiet, peaceful getaway. read more

We loved our stay at Siesta Key Bungalows. It was very affordable, secluded, and quiet; yet being on the key itself was still only a few minutes from Siesta Key Beach. Our cottage was clean and cold when we arrived. We enjoyed the dock overlooking the lagoon as well as the pool during one of our lazy days when we weren't on the go. The kitchen was on the small side (one person at a time to fit comfortably cooking food or doing the dishes), and the bathroom lacked a fan; but these were very minor quibbles in the overall experience. We felt very comfortable and safe while we were going about our time there. We would definitely return and have already recommended it to friends! read more

We loved the old Florida charm. It was landscaped beautifully. Even though the units were full we hardly saw anyone because there is so much to do. It is located between 2 beaches and we rode the free trolley to the village which has shops and restaurants. The heated pool is also a plus. We found Siesta Key Bungalows quite by chance. Wanting a simple vacation that was in a spot easy to get to, Siesta Key came up and we then checked vacation offerings. The Bungalows fit the bill for exactly what we were looking for - a quaint, quieter location still with easy accessibility to all the wonderful offerings of the Village. And what a perfect choice it was! The Bungalow was in a gorgeous area and had everything we needed. We spent a lot of time on the little dock, just enjoying the quiet and watching birds. We didn't have a car, but no worries, it wasn't needed - the excellent free shuttle service was available to take us about town and to the beaches when we didn't want to walk. The area is very, very walkable and we usually made the trek to Turtle Beach on foot. After spending a few hours on the beach, we would take advantage of the lovely, warm pool outside the Bungalows. There is a lot to do in the area. We took the shuttle into town a few times, taking advantage of the Sunday Farmer's Market and shops. We highly recommend at least one meal at Turtles (you MUST try their desserts) and kayaking with SRQ. We may have discovered Siesta Key Bungalows by chance, but it is now one of our favorite vacation spots. We will definitely be back. read more

My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway over the Memorial Day holiday. The owner was quick to respond to our inquiry, was able to accommodate and provided a clean place to vacation. I wish this review could be better. Let me first start off by saying that Jackie, the manager at Siesta Key Bungalows, is an absolute sweetheart. She is endearing, charismatic, and an extremely hard working person. We arrived early, on a Sunday, before normal check in time.  Jackie let us keep our car parked on the premises, so we could catch a ride on the free trolley that goes around Siesta Key and go to the Farmer's Market. Upon our return, our bungalow (The Tortuga) was ready. The bungalow was what I call "shabby chic." The structure itself is old, and worn, but the décor is light and inviting. The linen was pristine, as were the bathroom and kitchen. Everything in the bungalow was in working order. We left the bungalow again to hang out at the Siesta Key Drum Circle on the beach. Upon our return, around 8:30pm, we come to find out that most of the power was out in our bungalow, and the refrigerator was not working which had our 2 days' worth of food. We called 3 different phone #'s that we had for management, and did not receive a return phone call. Luckily, we always come prepared and had a Ziploc bag full of tea light candles, lighter, extra external battery to charge our phones, and an ice chest for our food. The light was working in the bathroom and only one TV in the living room worked. That's it. We managed easily since being a veteran of many a Florida hurricane, you learn to adapt to having minimal electricity. Come to find out the next morning, from Jackie, that the Tortuga bungalow has had wiring issues that are tied into the Pineapple bungalow's electrical fuses. Basically, they need the Tortuga bungalow rewired and have a new circuit breaker system installed instead of relying on old school electrical fuses. Jackie gave us a late check out to make up for the snafu, so we were not upset. It is imperative that a property manager be on call for emergency situations like electrical or plumbing issues. You cannot leave your guests hanging with no return phone calls. That is a lesson learned, on our part, to make sure next time we stay at a privately owned property versus the cookie cutter big corporate hotels, that we make sure who is responsible for handling issues after the front office closes for the night. It is impossible to burden just one person with handling emergencies, but as a guest, you expect some accountability from the proprietor. Not sure if I would stay at Siesta Key Bungalows again. This property has a lot of potential, they just need to do upgrades and have a solid, fail-safe after hour's emergency management system in place. read more

This place is a hidden treasure, beautifully landscaped, well provisioned and very clean. The location is perfect - on a lagoon, close to Turtle Beach and a free trolley ride away from Crescent Beach and the village. The pool was well maintained and the laundry facilities were convenient. The owner is quick to reply to questions and requests. The landscaping and cleaning crews are very friendly and helpful. We plan to return next year for a longer period. read more

We just stayed there last week in Dolphin. We got a discounted rate through groupon, so for what we paid, it wasn't bad. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful, and the location is great. It's only a mile from turtle beach, and about the same for crescent. As far as the room itself, it's in dire need of some updating. The bed frame is broken, causing it to sit crooked. The gas stove is ancient, and almost doesn't work (we had to light it manually, and it only burns on high). There is almost no water pressure in the shower, and the bathroom sink is somehow connected to the toilet. When you turn the sink on, the toilet bubbles. The cookware provided is shoddy at best. While cooking with the pot, I was straining boiling potatoes, and the plastic handle broke. Thankfully I wasn't burned, but when I brought it up to the desk, the owner(?) didn't seem to see the safety risk, saying "oh it's ok I'm not going to charge you for that" as if i was being done a courtesy. So in short, everything outside was great. Kayaking, fishing, pool, and my friends and I loved hunting lizards in our spare time. The inside was questionable at best. If I hadn't gotten the discount from groupon, and split the cost between 3 others, I would have been irate at the condition of the facilities. I'm an easy going guy, and I enjoyed my time there, but it is 100% NOT worth the money. read more

We had a wonderful time. This property has a new manager and evidently has made many improvements since earlier reviews. Everything was very clean and welcoming. We especially appreciated the extra touches. We had a bottle of wine waiting when we arrived. Beach towels, beach chairs and umbrellas were provided. It was a great location away from the crowded village, but a trolly came by every 20 minutes for trips to the beach and village. We enjoyed kayaking on the lagoon and sitting by the pool. The rooms were spacious, the lagoon was absolutley tranquil and we were a short bike ride (provided by SKB) away from everything! We took kayak rides (also provided) on the lagoon almost everyday. Great place to stay. The first night the windows on the front door were damaged due to previous tenants and Jackie fixed it the next day. The staff was very friendly and kind. We came during the Red Tide and was unable to really get in the ocean. Overall, the cottage was nice and very quiet. Would come and visit again very soon! read more

Super nice staff! Great part of these bungalows is that you can bring all your equipment (Paddleboard, bikes) they actually have nice bikes and small kayaks that you can use for free! We stayed in Tortuga and that is for sure the best bungalow. It was also pretty clean. The bad part is the parking lot is very small (we have an F150 and had a very hard time getting in and out of parking lot when other cars are in lot), I feel that the bungalows feel old and on the weekend I hardly saw staff or even other people (that may be a plus) and water in back is on a lagoon. No outlet, which is a problem for people like my husband and I who like to kayak. I'm glad we got to experience it on a Groupon. read more

Booked a 4 day weekend , but was Sorry after checking in. After we started taking food items in and placing them on the dining table, the leg on the table slid away and the table almost fell over and dumped our food on the floor. Leg was not secured on the table , wow what a surprise. Next we were looking around inside and found the tub/shower had most of the enamel in the bottom was peeled off and covered by a rubber mat covering the bottom of the tub and it to had seen it's better days. Discovered that the tv did not have regular cable but firestick for channel selection and was told by the person that worked there to watch most of the stations required us to sign in with our home cable company I'd to see tv. She said it was cheaper than cable installed. Internet kept going in and out getting on was horrible. First night there we were woke up at 4 am by loud talk an arguing in the patio area. The staff leaves at 5 pm each day and there is no security on property to call. Second day after going to bed at 11 pm , my wife had a medical emergency and we had to leave and go to Plant City where her Doctor is, there was no staff to talk to. The next morning we called the office but none would talk with us but would email us. After explaining the emergency, we were told they would not give us a refund on our days left that we had paid for. Very unsatisfactory to treat customers they did us. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. It is not worth what you pay and the staff if you can find them are not helpful. Besides that there are cheaper nicer places to stay the at these outdated bungalows. We were told by staff when we checked in that they were always booked but we only saw three other rooms with people staying there. Beware. read more

I'll start by saying that the four nights(Monday-Friday morning) that my family stayed here was gifted to us. That was SO appreciated as none of us had been on vacation in a long time and the relaxing/quality time was long overdue! My husband, two young kids and I were in the Ringling, Mother and Father-in-law were in the Tortuga, and Sisters in law had the Catamaran. Each had their nice factors and each had their not at all nice factors. For what this place costs during the busy season, it needs some serious TLC and attention. In the Ringling, we had a gorgeous view from the back patio overlooking the lagoon. We had to stand to see over the overly grown bushes but while standing had to watch out for far too many large ants and other critters. The kitchen was small with almost no counter space - lucky for us, we had access to the big kitchen in Catamaran(overall that's a big bungalow just no nice view.) The tile floors were nice and the carpet in the bedroom isn't the worst. The wicker "rug" in the living room hurt my feet to walk on. The couch looked like it was going to be nice to sit on, it wasn't. The cushions sunk in at a backwards angle making it impossible to enjoy. The bed (in the room, not pull out in couch) was comfortable but something about the sheets (and every room in the three bungalows I was in) made me so itchy that I was awake more than I slept most nights. My in laws also complained of being very itchy and had a few bites that hadn't been there before. The water pressure in the kitchen is ok, in the bathroom sink it's great - fills up the sink fast (with it came an abnormal amount of mineral deposits out the pipes into the sink), the showers pressure on the other hand - was disappointing and frustrating. My four year old son pees at a higher psi than the water coming out of the shower head. After being at the beach all day and coming back to find this out I was furious! We had to let every faucet run for at least 5 minutes (closer to ten in the shower) just to get lukewarm water. After a night of cold showers, we left a note in our basket and the next morning it was addressed with an "Oh sorry, I forgot to tell you the temperature is reversed in the shower - not sure what to tell you about the water pressure. It can't be fixed without breaking through the wall again..." She also said that because we were last in the line of four bungalows using the same water heater that "that's just how it is. Let the water run for a while." We had an incident (in Ringling) that could have ended way worse for us - a side table next to the couch at the hallway seems to have been broken and then propped back up on the leg and pushed against the couch for a little more stability. It was accidentally bumped and the broken leg (and rest of the table) fell to the ground with too much ease and as a result so did the glass cup of soda, the large clay lamp that had been on the table - both shattered and since there was no broom it ended in a cut on my hand that bled for far too long. This particular table, my 9 month old(who has been working on pulling up and standing) had been crawling around just hours before. It was dismissed by management(owner?) more so than the shower conversation! She just asked if she could clean something for us. As for the other two bungalows, catamaran has a slightly updated/renovated kitchen and living room. Couches were ok-ish. Bathroom has awful brown and yellow colored tiles from 70's - but at least they've got water pressure that is satisfactory. In Tortuga, my mother-in-law was greeted on the first morning she woke up here to a pretty good sized rat inside who wasn't too scared to show himself(and be heard) numerous more times during our stay, in various places around the property leading me to assume he has friends living here also. The porch, looking out to the lagoon, made for a great view during one of the afternoon thunderstorms! I realize this was more of a rant than anything (I tried to add in the silver-lining of each place.) but I feel that people paying serious money to stay here need to know what they're getting. It is a quite location and offers a few free amenities(biking, kayaking , pool - all of which are far from new or nice) but really needs a much lower price point and/or some serious renovating and regular maintenance. If we had paid money to stay here, I would have been FUROUS and demanded a refund(and left) or to have some things fixed right then. We will NOT be staying at Siesta Key Bungalows ever again!!! We booked a long weekend in the Dolphin room. We were ready for a relaxing weekend and excited after reading good reviews and getting a great discount. My initial reaction after checking in was how extremely OVERPRICED the bungalows are for what you get. I am glad we booked at a discounted rate because I couldn't imagine paying ~$320 per night for this dirty run-down place. Cleanliness: The floors were dirty and our feet were black within minutes of walking throughout the bungalow. It was laughable that the housekeeper left an envelope for tips. Bedroom: Old mattress on bed with a pillow top cover to make it look new/soft. Be ready to have an achy back every morning. Kitchen: Old and greasy appliances. Numerous cracks in wallpaper/plaster. The kitchen sink drained into a bowl under the sink that had to be emptied outside. I am certain that the office had prior knowledge of this issue since bowl was placed to catch the leaking water. It is a shame that we were not made aware of this problem. Patio: Uninviting and covered with leaves. We ended up leaving a day early after the office couldn't manage to repair the kitchen sink. We stated that there was no reason to pay ~$200 per night while having to wash dishes in the bathroom. The office provided zero customer service and stayed in their closet office while we had issues with the room. Instead, I spent a day of my vacation checking with them while, evidently, nothing was being done. After my stay, I conducted a quick search of Siesta Key Bungalows along with the management company. They seem to be going through financial issues; I can only assume this is the reason behind the deteriorated state of the place. Overall we feel ripped-off and wish we had of stayed ANYWHERE else! Finally, I should mention that we were refunded for the night that we did not stay. However, this does not make-up for the above stated issues. read more

I'm shocked at all the great reviews for Siesta Key Bungalows, I'm guessing they all liked Jackie so much they bumped up their rating. I got the groupon deal (which has gone up in price since) and I had a $50 off coupon when you added everything all together (groupon, taxes, fees, I paid 178 a night) We had the ringling which appeared to be one of the highest rated bungalows at this place. It was right on the water, pretty well renovated, had nice tile, decent kitchen, bathroom, but many issues as well. Wifi didn't reach, tiny shower, AC couldn't quite cool the bedroom despite being newer, even when I closed the other vents. the couch was very uncomfortable so we pulled out the bed (still uncomfortable as well as watching the tiny flatscreen TV with crappy speakers). We certainly had some uninvited guests in the form of roaches and a multitude of flying creatures that clung to the TV at night. Service/Jackie was great but don't expect daily bed making, etc. It's about once a week, you leave a basket for anything you need (towels, tp, pt, coffee, etc). You can do much worse i other rooms at the same location that haven't been renovated, don't have the water view/porch, and are much less desirable as a whole. You have much better options in the $200 plus range. There is no beach access, so the location doesn't merit points for that the water view wouldn't only be an advantage for kayaking. Speaking of which the free biking is scary with no bike paths and too much traffic, plus the kayaks had floated away so we couldn't do that either. We left a day early to get back to out more comfortable non squeaky bed, couch, and big TV. We would not return or recommend this place. Check out the many other locations on or near the beach. Possibly during peak season you may get stuck here, but on off season go elsewhere. To note the ringling is one of the best rooms, also the Catamaran is bigger, without the good patio view, the tortuga has the only screened in patio with good view but you are really on display in the middle of the property. read more

Traveling through florida this summer. We stayed at the Siesta Key Bungalows in July. This property is okay. The sister property at Ana Maria is much nicer and has more beautiful views. For a property boasting a full kitchen it was disappointingly equipped for cooking if inexpensive cookware would make a huge difference. We stayed in Pineapple, the bedroom was very very hot. Kayaking was fun. Of the four bikes on the property only one was in repair to use, the others had flat tires or or the chains were off. The pool area is clean and nice. The common use grill was handy and well cared for. The garden like setting is pretty. In our opinion this property has TONS of unrealized potential. read more
