I stayed here a couple weeks ago and had a wonderful stay! Because I had a busy itinerary, I was unable to get all of this hotel but I can share what I did get to experience! FREE BREAKFAST: Breakfast is located in the 8th floor of the hotel from 6:30-9:30a. Super yummy! They have a ready to make omelet section that was really good. And of course other hot favorites : potatoes, sausage, bacon, French toast, eggs, and all the other dried and sweet items. Really great amenity! ROOM: VERY spacious and clean! I received fresh linens daily. The toiletries smelled really good. I did wish there was a liquid bath soap instead of the bar. They do include shampoo, conditioner, and lotion! My room came with a fridge, microwave, and coffee/tea maker. The view was absolutely stunning from the 15th floor of the city! One of my favorite things of this stay. LOCATION: This hotel is right in the middle of Sarasota! It is within walking distance of lots of shops, eateries, and city favorites like The Bay and the Van Wezel Performing ArtsHall. It's also within a short distance of the beautiful Ringling and Siesta Key beaches (quartz sand ). I used transportation services, so so can't speak to parking. I do know there's valet and a garage within the hotel. In all, I had a great stay and I can't thank the staff enough for making it a pleasant one!

This hotel has deceptive pricing practices. I've been given hotel credits in the past as a courtesy. However, those credits have always been included in the room rate. This Hilton property, however, has a unique twist on the practice. Turns out that if you book your room at the Embassy Suites Sarasota on any travel site other than Hilton (I.e. something like Concur for all of us business travelers), you couldn't know that there is a Daily Mandatory Destination Charge of $28. That little slice of deception includes premium guest internet access; daily $28 food and beverage credit for use in all hotel outlets; 2 hour bicycle rental. Unfortunately, after booking a room, driving 5 hours to get there at 9:30p and, after they run your credit card, that's when they inform you that they charged you an additional $28 and that you have to use that credit at the bar or restaurant by 11:00a the next day - or you lose it! BTW, you can't apply it to their $40 per night parking or the gift shop. You can complain when that message is delivered but their desk staff is very well trained to shut you down by telling you that it's their policy and that it's posted on their website whether you booked it on that or not. When you respond to their, "We hope you're enjoying your stay" text and tell them you've had a bad experience and explain, the response is that it's your travel booking site that is the problem and you need to take it up with them. I'll translate... you, the customer, patronizing their property, can pound sand because we've got you on the terms and we've already billed you. I've been a Hilton Honors member for most of my career and I truly feel deceived and disrespected enough to 1) post a review which I have never done before ...good or bad, and 2) book all future travel with franchises other than than Hilton since, after calling Hilton Honors to discuss, they seem to covet their franchisee more than their customers, and finally, 3) recommend that my Company (with ~40,000 employees worldwide) remove this property and, perhaps, all Hilton properties from our Preferred hotel list. Unfortunately, I'm not the only one that was surprised by this as I heard similar conversations with guests in the elevator and lobby the next morning as they tried to spend the money the hotel extorted from them the night before - you'll find more mentions in the other Yelp reviews below. I'll be checking other sites like Trip Adviser and others. I expect there will be similar complaints so, I, in turn, I will share my experience on those as well. I suppose it's just $28 and I bet they've done the math to figure just out how many complaints they can get away with for compelling their customers to spend more money at this hotel or, in my case, just taking it from me. I've attached the fine print that they give you once they are already in your pocket. Most of us have known this type of practice exists since we watched Willy Wonka as a kid. You remember "I, the undersigned, shall forfeit all rights, privileges, and licenses herein and herein contained...", etc, etc, etc. so "you lose Charlie!" Who'd have guessed that we'd get that treatment as adult Hilton Honors members? Really, really bad form.

Oatmeal station from the breakfast bar

We had a great stay at the Embassy Suites. The check-in process was seamless. The rooms are clean, big and quiet! We didn't have any disturbances while trying to sleep. The breakfast was huge! Omelette bar, oatmeal & waffle station with toppings, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, mini pancakes, large bread selection, it does not disappoint! You receive 2 free drinks at the bar a night between certain times, the time is different depending on the weekend/weekdays. I knocked off one star because parking is $30/day, and laundry is $4 a load. Also there is a "Daily Destination Charge" of $25/day, however, it can be used in the restaurant and bar. What I did was I used it to buy water bottles from the bar (6.50 a bottle). I also used it the first day we arrived because I was hungry and got a Caesar salad and French fries, they were both delicious. Make sure you check your bill at checkout to make sure they take off the $25 each day you use it.

Not a bad view!

I'll start with the great! The location and views are amazing! The hotel is beautiful. The elevators are efficient and never left me frustrated! The parking garage is convenient and easy to navigate. The not so good: 1) they charge a $25 destination fee daily. This does go toward meals at their restaurant but kind of keeps you trapped if you want to get your money back. 2) I presented a federal tax exempt form upon arrival. When I checked the night before, there were still taxes on my bill. They said they would be removed when I checked out. When I checked out they were still on my bill and they said they would be removed before they emailed me my bill. When I opened my email there were still taxes. I called and they said they would take care of it and send me another bill. The taxes were removed but there was a charge to my credit card with no explanation. When I called they said that was all the taxes lumped together and that their accountant had to remove them and it could take several days...we shall see. This makes for a nightmarish travel voucher. 3) The TV in the living room didn't work so engineering came up to take a look. He said a cable was bad but he'd look in a room that was being renovated to see if he could get another cable. He came back and apologized that he couldn't get into that room and they'd have to order a cable. Not sure why they couldn't just get one from an unoccupied room and order one for that room. It was never replaced and I had no TV in the living room during my stay. Lastly, there was a mildew odor in the bathroom.

Food at the restaurant

We arrived and entered our room to see a used bar of soap that had hair on it. There was no apology about it. There was a resort fee attached to the room each day but it wasn't mentioned during check in. When I asked about it 2 days later, there was no accommodation to help us use the previous credits we weren't told about. Very disappointed in how this hotel was managed. The restaurant was great! The bartenders and servers were great! The pool was great!

The view of the bay from my corner room was absolutely beautiful. Consider booking the one-bedroom corner room. More space than a standard room plus gorgeous views from the living area and bedroom. I miss this property already. Staff and dinner from Bridges restaurant was fenomenal. Hotel staff quickly addressed concerns I experienced with my room. To my delight, they adjusted my bill to accommodate my unique situation with my room. Book here quick, your money will be well spent, trust me.

The sunset

Looks can be deceiving as the case with Embassy Suites Sarasota. From the outside the hotel seems wonderful; however, there were many flaws during our visit. The parking garage is a nightmare with an extremely narrow lane to maneuver around. I'm glad we didn't need our car for our 3 night stay. Customer service is not up to par. Front desk had issues with our reservation, but the worst was when we called down and asked a question about an upcoming event being held in their hotel (the reason we were there), the front desk gentleman, said he didn't know. When we stated that he should know the detail of events in their own hotel, he hung up on us. The room: the room was nice with a separate living area and bedroom; however, the closet was the smallest closet to hang clothes I have ever seen. I've stayed in teeny tiny rooms in NYC and had larger closet space. Lighting in the bathroom was disgraceful. The bar: thankfully guests receive two free drinks during Happy Hour. The staff though were so busy on one side of the bar, that we waited almost 20 minutes before we could order our drink. This was the case all 3 nights we stayed. Breakfast: was great. Lots of options and the food was tasty. Overall, not sure if we would stay here again.

Beautiful and updated hotel! Everything was very clean. Felt safe and comfortable staying here and with everything in the room. There were 6 of us in one room. The room had two queen beds and a pullout sofa. The room had a very spacious bathroom and a little kitchenette. Great space! In the morning, I went down the breakfast, which was an amazing spread. They had omelettes to order, pancakes, sausage, bacon, home fries, bagels and pastries, juices, yogurt, and fruit. Would definitely stay again!

Wow, this hotel is amazing. We did make a reservation to stay for one month. I am glad because they were 90% to 100% booked every day I was there. This location was great right on the bay. The sunset here almost matches the west coast. Surprisingly this location did not have any private room balconies. What a welcoming hotel staff. The front desk ladies were kind and proactive. I loved my morning conversation after my dog walk. As for the cleaning crew were one of the finest. Also, the maintenance men were quick to act when I voice my A/C was on the fritz. The daytime valets were quick and respectful. Unlike the nighttime valets who were youthful, not concerned with time, and not professional. I did not think I was going to use the gym. It was a healthy way to release work energy and stress away. I was most impressed with the many different types of equipment. Wow Savannah and Beth, the mixologist created such memorable cocktails. Both ladies took great care of my friends and myself. Some of my top favorites are the smoked old fashion, smore martini, cherry martini, lavender lemon drop martini. Also, what a unique happy hour from 5PM- 6PM. The free well cocktails and appetizers tasted fresh and delightful. Then the breakfast is made to order omelets that were most desirable. It was the perfect start to my day. The cook had the best music that made me smile. Now the lunch/dinner chef's skills were exquisite, what an honor to dine here. My husband's and I favorite lunch would have to be the juicy burger, crab cakes and share an order of French fries. The laundry room was very clean. It was equipped with two washers and two drying machines. Both washing machine and dryer were $2 each to use. If you forgot or ran out of quarters the front desk personnel will help you acquire as many quarters as you need! On the 9th floor there is a most interesting pool on the balcony. It was just beautiful to sit in the shade or bath in the sun. A +

The other patrons and staff at the bar in the evenings commiserated as well about their experiences. I ran into a wonderful man, Hudson from Brazil, who is the project manager for the hotel and was observed working on finishing touches this week and working hard. Email me if you have any questions as I share the following review: At Check in - was not told about amenities or reward points system. MANAGEMENT has been scurrying about this week, agitated and trying to figure things out during the new ownership. The growing pains of transferring ownership are apparent and transferred to the hotel clients. Here are examples: SUSTAINABILITY: Every floor has a room with an ice machine, microwave and water/seltzer dispenser at the vending room temperature is 20 degrees hotter than the hallways. Every room has glass water bottles which you have to refill. I wonder how they clean these bottles? The neck is pretty tight. Great concept although not sure how sanitary. The front office manager screamed or spoke in a high tone to the staff looking for receipts - save it for a time when customers aren't around. OR talk softly to your staff in your office. BAR area: The POS System at the bar... not working & Limited wine selection. Evening lighting in the restaurant bar area - doesn't need to be full force. They preach energy efficiency and sustainability but don't practice it. Dim the lights! BILLING: Destination fees: not explained at the front desk, even if you dont use the shuttle, or the medites, you are charged AMENITIES: wading pool was closed, outside seating area was not accessible, the shuttle is by appointment (if you know about it), and the gym .. well just average hotel equipment. COFFEE: Is this coffee discrimination? not served or available in the lobby. They offer tea for free but you have to pay for coffee. The practice is inconsistent...One day, you get coffee in the lobby, one day in the staff office, one day the restaurant gives you a cup... and then suddenly you have to pay for it using a coffee machine located in the little shop. Staff aren't sure, and I asked and received different responses. Day 5 - they just started offering coffee in the lobby area, for a photo shoot only. Day 6 - you have to pay although if you are a Delta Airline worker, you get coffee for free. The restaurant response "let me look for some cups" one day. IN ROOM EXPERIENCE: The Mixpresso machines in room don't work 100% of the time, and pods are espresso pods. They have cute sipping cups which is all you get from the machine - a few sips worth. The clothes steamer works well in the room, the hair dryers are old and two died on me this week, the decorations are modern with wood like flooring. You don't get extra comforters, just the sheets and a blanket. Bathrooms are spacious. Bed is comfortable. Air conditioner / fan is loud. The rooms are vinyls wood and lift easily - they need to use better glue. They have carpet runners on both sides of the bed and weren't glued down straight, great concept, but when yo try to straighten them, the wood flooring comes undone. FRONT DESK STAFF: staff are not empowered, the response of "I don't know, I am new here, the staff called out and I cannot leave the front desk, or we don't have a shower cap or extra coffee pods or extra blankets", are just not customer service. On weekend the staff had her son playing on the computer at the desk. Adopt a "Get to Yes" culture here. HOUSEKEEPING staff: they apparently have two different groups, one that gathers towels and wipes down the room, and one that replenishes? The first few nights I did not get replenishment of cups or coffee pods, and was told that is not what I do.

Our las trip to Sarasota included a somewhat less-than-pleasant stay at an economy motel. I promised myself I would find something better - and luckily I did. Hotel Indigo is still a bit pricey, but as the saying goes - you get what you pay for, and in the case of this locale - you get a lot. The building looks very nice from the outside, there's plenty of free parking (a plus in my book) to be had, and you are greeted by a beautiful lobby, well furnished and staff that are friendly and accommodating from the moment we walked in. I will admit, we had some hiccups - I reserved a King Bed Room, non-smoking, and all they had to offer was a room with two Queen's - no big deal. I had the devil-of-a-time trying to get their small cappuccino machine in the room to work. They had someone come to the room and show me how to function it. Our keys stopped working after just a few hours - no problem, the front desk fixed it right away. I mention these as examples of the exemplary customer service we received - a breath of fresh air that I truly enjoyed. The rooms are very chicly furnished - you can get yourself complimentary water from a machine that offers not only cold water but hot, ambient, and sparkling - this was a treat. Checking was fast and easy, and checking out is as simple as dropping off your room cards at the front desk - no fuss. You really can't ask for more. We will be back to Sarasota in a month's time - this will be the place we stay without any hesitation, but certainly with a "reservation".

During our stay, Hurricane Debby passed by, leaving about 17 inches of rain in one day with very gusty winds. Through the weather was dramatic, we never felt in danger. The building felt solid. Whew! We used the community gas grills, the shared PC, bought postcards, and generally enjoyed the same experience we've had over the years. Plenty of parking is available, and the activity center was refreshed where we played ping pong and reviewd books in the lending library. Site: The beach was substantially augmented with crushed shell/sand. It held up to the storm surge like nothing ever happened. Spectacular sunsets were a treat. We saw dolphins, pelicans, gulls, lots of wading birds including a rosette spoonbill! Entertainment: We loved the Tuesday evening one woman band. Beautiful versatile voice and musician - she had the kids, and some adults, up dancing at sunset. A magical treat! Value: For a family friendly, safe, clean on-the-beach experience- it was amazing! In summary - for the experience controlled/managed by the Limetree, the overall rating is a solid 5 (best). It's what we've come to expect after many years of visits. We hope they continue for our future generations. However - there were some non-controllable factors that downgraded our visitor experience. 1) Temporarily, construction noise from a new development. Swiveling tower cranes, clanging metal, banging, truck traffic immediately adjacent to the Limetree on the north side occurs during the day. We experienced noise from about 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. This was not a surprise because Limetree staff informed us of the work. Yet we were grateful to be on the south side of the facility - a little further away. 2) Other people: We were surprised to hear late night (after closing) loud pool parties on several evenings. They stopped before midnight but still it was not expected. We were also disappointed to see people pitch camp (umbrellas, chairs, etc.) between our rented cabanas and the beach - which obstructed our water view. Apparently, there is a public beach strip between Limetree property and the waterline available to anyone. Thus, Limetree could not force them to move, yet, we are used to a Limetree community of kindness - not competition. Thus, the atmosphere at times seemed less friendly this trip. Like the uncontrollable weather, I don't allow these external issues affect the Limetree rating. We'll be back.

My Mother purchased a unit from her friend in the early 1980's. Our family had been traveling to…read moreLido Beach since 1969. My aunt & uncle purchased pre- construction 2 units in the building next door, prior to Limetree became a time share & we stayed there every year. They also had a studio unit when Limetree opened but never used. Once Mom bought her unit we would transfer to that unit for our 2nd week. These units were for Mom, my sister, me & any grandchildren invited on that vacation. Basically girls only & kids which excluded my Dad, brothers, and later my sister's husband & mine. My Mom did purchase a week that was Memorial Day & rented this week as kids were still in school. However I got married on May 30th & Mom gave us the week. My husband had never been to Florida & thereafter we went every year & eventually using week 24 once Mom no longer wanted to go to Sarasota circa 2006 or so. My husband took a great interest in the turtles & took it upon himself to enforce no lights on the beach & early morning strolls & volunteering unofficially with conservationists by identifying new tracks & nests. He became known as " The Turtle Man of Lido Beach" by these conservationists & Limetree Resort. He learned a great deal & was advised to get certified as a volunteer but it was a 6 week course that due to the fact we lived & worked in Illinois & came to Florida for 2 weeks in June was not an option, plus really not necessary. This resort has truly been our home away from home with our annual Limetree friends , the beach, St. Armando Circle's favorite restaurants & stores , & a feeling that comes over me hearing & seeing the Gulf upon arrival that envelopes me, mind & spirit at peace, all concerns or troubles forgotten. There is no comparison to hotel stays as just another guest & Limetree's attention to providing amenities & supplies so you feel at home & as sense of belonging. Last year was the first year in more than 50 years I could not do my annual vacation to Sarasota due to a change in ownership to another family member of both weeks. Rest assured that Myrtle Beach does not hold a candle in any way to Lido Beach & will either rent or purchase a unit in June or August 2026 to ensure Limetree is the only destination for my vacation come what may.
